Hello there! I'm ~MidnightSong~, and this is my very first (Shakespearean) sonnet. I wrote this because I had to do it as homework, and I wanted to see what everyone thinks of it! A sonnet is a poem that is divided into three quadrants and one couplet (I divided them with a "~" to make it easier for people) The rhyme scheme is ABAB, CDCD, EFEF, and GG (I also put those next to the lines, again to make it easier for people) This is my first time writting one, so constructive criticism is greatly appreciated!
Scary Games

Every creeping sound, every dark hallway; (A)
Causes my heart to pound loud in my ears. (B)
My stomach flips when I enter dark doorways; (A)
This game is giving my these crazy fears! (B)
~
Why do I play you in the dark at night? (C)
It doesn’t help when I’m lacking my rest. (D)
You’re always such a terrible fright! (C)
Ugh, I think my heart will leap from my chest! (D)
~
You cause me to flich at every small sound, (E)
But why are you so addicting to play? (F)
I feel like a tiny dog in the pound, (E)
Heh, now my room is where I like to stay! (F)
~
“Hey, lets go play a scary game!” they said. (G)
“I don’t think so!” I said, “I’ll sleep instead!” (G)
I really like writing this, so expect more from me!
