Hi there!
I know a lot of you adored book 1 of the Jewel Empire stories. Well guess what? There's more! This series will be longer, more action-packed and with better characters (and romance!) than the other book.

If you wish to read book 1 (which is a better idea than starting here, you'll get muddled up!) here is a link to it.
The Jewel Empire

Now, posting is not open here, remember? Please don't post here; send me a PM! I love PMs. But if you do post, accidently of course, I'll just send you a friendly PM saying can you delete your post.
And also, if you are not a real fan or watcher of MLP FiM, it's very likely you won't enjoy my stories. But I'm not stopping you! I know have a couple of readers who don't watch it, and I love you. <3

Book 2 blurb wrote:During a peace celebration between foreign royals in the Empire, evil suddenly strikes. A weird race of creatures, who was thought to be destroyed 3000 years ago, are back. And they’re strong. To tear the royal family apart, they have kidnapped the Princesses, forcing the Whirlwind to go on a quest for them and leave Aka and Storm to defend the Jewel Empire. Is it possible for them to save the beloved Princesses and defeat the powerful threat before they are all frozen eternally?

Note:
I didn't get the Jewel Empire idea from 'The Crystal Empire'. The original idea of this was thought up before the third series of mlp fim aired.
Also, all these characters and locations other than Equestria, Saddle Arabia and the Crystal Empire belong to me and my friend! DO NOT STEAL! However fanart is highly appreciated. And some charries belong to my friends here on CS, whome I will mention the first time each of them in posted.

Whirlwind

Postby Kodabomb » Wed Feb 20, 2013 6:49 pm

This is written from King Whirlwind's point of view.
Image
Aka and I sat regally upon a large thrones in the Hall of the Thrones. A long, dark blue carpet stretched from our throne platform to the doors, over the beautiful white marble floor.
Soldiers, sparkling in the finest of the palace’s armour, lined the walls, ready to welcome our honoured guest.
Suddenly a trumpets sounded. I gasped and looked up eagerly. Two unicorn soldiers opened the doors with their magic, and somepony walked in. The trumpets played for a couple more seconds, and Aka and I got up and went to the bottom of the platform to greet them.
Led by two white Pegasus guards in lovely golden armour came Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. They smiled as they saw our faces, and walked very elegantly towards us. Both of their manes flowed behind them, and I looked in awe at Princess Luna’s. It was almost see-through.
“Queen Aka! King Whirlwind!” exclaimed Princess Celestia, and we greeted one another in a bow. I kissed both Princess’s hooves politely.
“Oh, it’s been so long!” said Aka, smiled widely at Celestia. “I can’t wait for the dinner. It will be spectacular.”
“Oh, and I can’t wait for our tour around the Empire! Can you, Luna?” replied the Sun Princess. Luna nodded.
“And we can hardly wait to greet thou’s children. It will be such a delight!” said Luna, speaking in her old-fashioned way that I’d heard of.
“We promise that this dinner will meet all your expectations, Princesses, and we are honoured to have you here to stay.” I said. “Our maids are excited to show you to your luxury suite in the tower.” Suddenly two extremely eager-looking unicorn mares charged over, practically bouncing. They bowed to the Equestrian leaders, and led them to the door.
All of a sudden the trumpets blew out again, and two more Equestrian soldiers walked in. Behind them walked a lovely pink alicorn and her white unicorn husband.
“Princess Cadence! Shining Armour!” I said, as the two happily walked towards us. We bowed and they bowed too.
“Hello, your highnesses!” said Prince Shining Armour politely, kissing Aka’s hoof.
“Hello to you too! It’s wonderful to finally meet you two, now that the Crystal Empire’s returned.” I said, in return kissing Princess Cadence’s hoof.
“Oh, I’ve always wanted to come here!” exclaimed Cadence, looking around the palace. “It’s beautiful, and Celestia says the citizens are lovely.”
“You will get to meet them, visiting the Empire’s towns. I’ve heard you two are very popular, they’d adore meeting you.” Smiled Aka.
“Would you like to escort Princess Cadence and Prince Shining Armour to their chambers?” I asked two more maids, who just as eagerly reacted to my call and rushed over.
The maids led the two away, and Cadence began talking to them.
Once again, the trumpets sounded. I looked to see who had arrived. A couple of soldiers came in. They were different, though. Longer faces, shorter manes, and their bodies were covered in stripes. The royals arriving were King Kaizari and Queen Malaika of faraway country, Clopswana. They were both very tall, covered in stripes and decorated with golden rings, jewellery and pretty woven rugs upon their backs.
“Greetings Queen Aka! Hello King Whirlwind!” exclaimed Malaika happily in her delightful accent. We bowed.
“Hello! We’re very glad you could arrive today.” Said Aka to the zebras. “It’s wonderful we can celebrate our peace.”
“Thank you very much, we are so delighted that we may be honoured in visiting your lovely kingdom for the next week.” Said Kaizari.
“Maids! May you escort King and Queen Kaizari and Malaika?” called Aka. Yet another pair of maids, a Pegasus and an Earth pony, came and happily led the royal couple away. Just on time, and trumpets were blew again.
We both looked over and saw who was walking in. No zebras. No ponies. But grey, insect-winged, blue-eyed creatures wearing shiny, beautiful lapis-lazuli armour.
Changelings. They marched in, holding their spears in their hooves full of holes. Behind them came the rulers of the little-known good changeling kingdom, Motatio Realm. A different kind of changelings than the ones that attacked Canterlot a few years before; these were good and fed off love in a different way.
In walked Empress Vespula and Emperor Apis. They had tall, slender figures, large, holed wings and jagged horns. The two eerie yet beautiful creatures approached us with smiles.
“Finest greetings, your highnesses!” exclaimed Apis happily, bowing along with his wife. We politely bowed back.
“Same to you too!” I replied, and we all smiled.
“A very big honour to come to your lovely dinner and tour of the Empire, and we just know this kingdom will be full of the wonderful love we can bring back to our subjects.” Put in Vespula. I lifted up her hoof and kissed it.
“And we will love to have you here. It makes us all so happy that we can provide your kingdom with the feed it needs upon this visit.” Agreed Aka.
Before I could even call them, some more maids charged over, waiting for the chance to serve royalty. I smiled and lifted my hoof to show them, and the maids delightedly led them across the hall.
“We’ll see you at the dinner!” called Apis over his shoulder. I waved.
“OK, Whirlwind, the others will be arriving later. We’ll go and see to the dinner preparations.” Said my wife, kissing my cheek. I smiled and followed her to the other door leading to the corridor.
We silently walked up it, then climbed the tall stairs to the next floor of the centre of the palace. At the other end of the hallway was a big door, and we went over to it and knocked.
The door was opened and we walked in. A maid, with her mane ruffled and glasses lop-sided, came up to us with a genuine smile.
“Hello, your highnesses!” she said, bowing down. “Have you come to check the preparations?”
“Yes, indeed we have!” replied Aka kindly to her. I looked around and saw the beautiful royal dinner hall. This hall was only used for very formal occasions, we didn’t even eat here on a regular basis. It was very big, the huge oak wood table stretched across to the other side. Upon it was a blue rug, and servants were rushing around setting the table to absolute perfection. There were tall candles in silver candle holders, sparkling cutlery and fine china plates and bowls. I knew the food would be divine, and it was being prepared in the kitchens. All around the roof hung beautiful banners. Flags of all the countries hung around the ceiling on silver poles, with the Jewel Empire’s flag the biggest on the opposite wall.
Gorgeous throne-like chairs sat around, and servants were placing pretty name-tags to show who sat where.
I nodded to the maid and we went over to the other door, going through.
This room was the ballroom where we would hold our dance. Big, circular and shiny marble like most of the palace. Once again the kingdom’s flags hung about the room. Over on the other side was a platform, already set up with instruments. A couple of ponies were already there, testing out their music. One of them waved to us and we returned it.
There were some statues all around too, each cleverly representing the kingdoms.
We turned and left the room. Tonight was going to be absolutely perfect. And it wasn’t just the kingdom’s peace we were celebrating. There was another surprise too…

* * *
“King Whirlwind, Aka wants you down in the Hall of the Thrones.” Said a guard as he approached me. “The Saddle Arabian Prince and Princess are arriving in a few minutes.”
“Oh, thank you.” I said to him with a smile, and he bowed. I walked up the corridor after coming back from the kitchens. The meals in there looked absolutely splendid. I couldn’t wait to eat.
Within a few minutes I finally reached the hall, where I stood silently beside my wife.
And I was just on time too. The trumpets yelled out and we stood to attention, just as a few soldiers walked in.
Arabian horses. Elegant, tall, black, dressed in their armour and decorative bridles. They marched up, coming to a halt.
Behind them came the Prince and Princess of Saddle Arabia. Apparently the King and Queen were away, which was a terrible shame, and we didn’t want the delegates. That wouldn’t be a very ‘royal’ dinner.
But they were perfect none the less. The Prince was extremely handsome, jet-black with dark brown mane and brilliant green eyes. The Princess was a shiny silvery colour, with flowing dark pink mane. She was decorated with many exotic items that matched her colours in perfection.
“Prince Ameer! Princess Sabwa!” I exclaimed joyfully, as the lovely couple approached us. The Princess was very beautiful. I kissed her hoof.
“It’s wonderful you could join us!” said Aka.
“Oh, we are honoured to come here this week.” Said Prince Ameer, nodding his head in a bow. “But it is a shame that Father and Mother couldn’t be here. They would’ve loved to see you again.”
“Don’t worry, you two will be perfect. I’m sure that this is a wonderful opportunity for your lovely wife to see another kingdom.” I said kindly.
“Oh, yes, I don’t travel often.” Blushed Sabwa. I knew that she had only recently married the Prince.
“You’ll be travelling all over the Empire this week!” informed Aka. “You will get to meet our subjects.”
“Now, how about you two get settled in your room. Our maids will be happy to help.” I said, just as some maids came over. They looked at the Princess in awe. Obviously they’d never seen somepony from Saddle Arabia.
“Wait, didn’t you mention in your letter that some more of you were coming?” asked Aka, just as they were about to leave the hall.
“Oh, yes!” replied Ameer, walking back over as Sabwa started conversing with the maids. “You see, our finest knight, Sir. Askari, has a daughter who has been absolutely desperate to come here and meet the prince and princesses. Their carriage will be arriving soon, and we were wondering if they could stay and attend the dinner?” asked the Prince.
“Oh!” I exclaimed. “That would be lovely! I’ll let the servants know soon.” I said, and Ameer smiled and walked back to the maids and his wife.
Suddenly the trumpets sounded, again, and in came two more ponies. The first was a brown Arabian stallion, and behind him was his daughter.
But upon her pink head was… a horn? Last I checked, only ponies had horns. And she had slightly large feet and a smaller muzzle.
“Hello! You must be King Whirlwind and Queen Aka, yes?” said Askari, bowing to us.
“Yes! Hello, Sir. Askari. And this is your daughter?” asked Aka.
“Yes! This is Lady Gamila, my lovely daughter. She’s been wanting to come here for a long time.” Replied the knight, looking at Gamila who blushed and looked at the floor. I was just about to ask about her differences between her and the other horses, when he replied for me. “Yes, her mother in a unicorn.” He smiled.
“Well, we’ll just get you a room, shall we?” asked Aka. “Maids! Turns out we do have a job for you. Please take Sir. Askari and Lady Gamila up to a spare suite near Sabwa and Ameer’s room.” Two maids, who had begun to sadly slide to the door, popped to attention and ran to us. They smiled at Aka and led the two away.

I stood before my enormous silver mirror. Even saying it myself, I looked an absolute star. I was wearing an absolutely stunning blue and white silk gown, that was light and flowed around me even if I moved very slowly. The chest area was decorated with luminescent emeralds and sapphires that glittered beautifully. I was wearing gorgeous decorations in my mane and on the base of my wings. Candy had completely outdone herself.
I lifted up my tiara and placed it on my head, spun around once, then headed for the door.
I opened it and saw my three lovely daughters coming out of their rooms, all wearing equally stunning dresses.
“Wow! Mother, you look amazing!” exclaimed Sparkle Flame, approaching me. She was wearing a gown that sort of matched her hair, but slightly paler. It was spiked at the end just like flames, and she wore a large diamond on her chest.
“I would have to say that you look just the same, Sparkle.” I smiled. The other girls came up to look at my gown. Wildfire’s was long and white with orange flame-like patterns on it. And Fire-Fighter looked very different. She barely ever wore anything but her armour. Her gown was even more like flames than Sparkle’s, and layered too. Her shoes were not the normal ones, but tall and spiky like Sparkle’s and Wildfire’s. But they reached very far up.
“Oh, Candy is simply amazing!” exclaimed Fighter, twirling around she show how her dress swished around her hooves.
“I know! But I think it’s time to meet Storm and your father down in the hall. All our guests will be arriving there soon too, but we must be there first.” I said to them, beginning to walk down the hall.
“And we’re hosting the party for the knight too, aren’t we?” asked Sparkle Flame.
“Yes. Out best knight too!” replied Fighter, as we reached the end of the hall and descended the stairs.
Soon we came to the door of the hall, and Wildfire knocked upon it. It was opened, and a maid dressed in a short skirt greeted us.
“Greetings, your highnesses!” she said happily, as we walked in. “We’ve set up everything, put everypony in the correct place… And you are up the far end, of course, beneath the Empire Flag.” She beamed as we came to our spots. A stallion servant greeted us with a towel over his hoof.
“We trust everything is to your liking?” he asked us politely.
“Yes, indeed it is! Well done. You ponies really seem to understand how important this party is for our kingdom.” I bowed to the two servants, and they did back to me.
There was suddenly more hooves clopping, and Whirlwind and Storm Cloud entered the room. Both stallions looked incredibly handsome in their suits and bow-ties, instead of their armour.
“Oh, don’t you two look like stars!” I exclaimed, kissing my husband.
“This suit hasn’t come out in so many years.” He replied, looking down at himself. “And Storm’s never worn his.” He glanced over at our son, who looked very embarrassed. His sisters giggled silently to each other.
“Girls!” I scolded with a smirk. “Now, everypony sit down. They’ll announce the arrival of the guests in a moment.” We all drew out our chairs and sat upon them, facing the door at the far side.
I watched all the servants rush around excitedly, whispering to each other to get in their position. The maids stood in the corners, and the servants stood by both door. Suddenly a guard came up to the door, and blew his trumpet in the regal sounding tune.
“Announcing, the guests of honour to the royal kingdoms dinner!” He cried. “Princess Celestia and Princess Luna of Equestria!” The two Princesses walked in, also dressed in beautiful gowns, representing the sun for Celestia and the moon for Luna.
“Princess Cadence and Prince Shining Armour of the Crystal Empire!” the young couple came in, smiles upon faces. Shining Armour wore an elegant suit and Cadence wore a long, flowing gown. “King Kaizari and Queen Malaika of Clopswana!” the two lovely zebras came in after, and I was in awe at Malaika’s gown. It was so different to the Jewel Empire’s style, very exotic and beautiful.
“Empress Vespula and Emperor Apis of Motatio Realm!” the two changelings walked silently in too. Apis was wearing clothes very different to that of the others, and Vespula’s draping gown was see-through. They sat. “Prince Ameer and Princess Sabwa of Saddle Arabia! And their knight Sir. Askari with his daughter, Lady Gamila!” the Arabian horses came in, they too wearing gorgeous gowns and suits. The mares also had those distinctive headpieces.
Everypony settled silently down in their seats. I was near Celestia, on the end of the row of our family. On the other end, Wildfire was near Malaika, and they started a small conversation.
I continued talking to Celestia for a moment, before I thought it was enough chat for everypony. I nodded to the sun Princess, then lifted a spoon to my wine glass and tapped it.
“Welcome everypony, to the royal dinner of our kingdoms!” I said, drawing eyes to me. “Whirlwind, Storm Cloud, Sparkle Flame, Fire-Fighter, Wildfire and I are all so happy you could come here tonight, and that you have a wonderful week in our Empire. In seven days time, all of us will sign the peace declaration, showing the eternal harmony between us all.” I looked to my side at Whirlwind.
“And also, tonight, there is something else. Not only is this a party for us royals, but a celebration for somepony else. Because he proposed very recently to his marefriend, Aka and I thought that we would hold their engagement party on the same night.” Said my husband, nodding to the guard at the other end with the trumpet. “Announcing, Sir. Golden Bolt, and his lovely fiancé, Aqua!”
The trumpets blew, and in walked the finest knight in the Empire. Sir. Golden Bolt, wearing a suit and bow-tie as well. Beside him was his blue unicorn mare, Aqua, in a stunning dark green and hot pink gown. She seemed shy towards all the leaders around, and waved nervously.
“Also announcing, the couple’s honoured guests! Grey Quartz, Crimson Star, Golden Bubble, River Tide, Emerald Glitter, Rainbow Bliss, Moon Flash, Solar Eclipse, Lunar Eclipse, Blue Spark and Frost Bite!” cried the guard. It seemed like a lot of ponies, but the table was huge and easily fit them all. They was a huge round of applause for the couple and their guests.
I tapped my glass again. “Welcome to you too, Golden Bolt, Aqua and their lovely guests.” I said, smiling to them. “But now, we shall eat!” suddenly, from the door, came a few unicorn servants, carrying in their magic what looked like an enormous amount of food. It was all placed down on the table. Salads, cakes, pasta, cream, wine, water, vegetables, fruits, soups, jellies, bread, tea and almost every other food imaginable it seemed. It was all neatly laid out.
“Dig in!” said Whirlwind, and suddenly their were many lit horns and outstretched hooves as everypony grabbed their choice of food.
I put some salad, bread, and berries on my plate and poured myself some wine. I lifted the food to my mouth and enjoyed.

Aqua

I walked to the snack table and grabbed some wine, lifting it up with my magic before me.
Tonight was absolute magic. My engagement party at the royal peace dinner? So great! I almost felt like a royal myself, and was treated like one. I was very stressed when Aka told me that our party would be held here, worried that the other royals would think that I was just barging in. But they didn’t, and I was very glad.
I walked over to where Bolt was chatting with Golden Bubble and Rainbow Bliss. “Hi guys!” I said, and they turned to see me.
“Hi Aqua!” said Golden Bubble, one of my very close friends from Naracolt. “I’m so happy for you, as I’ve said like a million times.” She giggled.
“Thanks.” I smiled. “Isn’t the part wonderful?”
“Oh, it’s amazing, Aqua!” exclaimed Rainbow Bliss, turning around. “It’s great Aka and Whirlwind let you two do this.”
“Hey, have anypony noticed that something’s up with Solar?” asked a voice. I turned to see my other friend from Equestria, a snowflake maker, Frost Bite. We all looked at her, confused.
“No. Why?” asked Bubble.
“Well, she’s normally so happy. But she looks really down… I’ve never seen her like this. Lunar seems to be having a better time.” She kept looking over her shoulder. I looked past her and saw the not-so-fiery-anymore alicorn, slumped down near the stage. Her fire hair was all flopped down.
“We should see her.” I said, placing my drink on a waiter’s tray as he walked past.
“I’ll stay here, I gotta go talk to River Tide.” Said Bolt, walking away. I gave him a kiss on the cheek and followed my friends over to Solar.
We approached her and noticed her tear-stained white cheeks. She looked fine at the dinner, but her inside feelings were showing now that she wasn’t in direct company with royalty.
“Hey, Solar, what’s up?” asked Rainbow, sitting down beside her and putting a hoof around her shoulder.
Solar sighed. “Nothing.” She mumbled, turning away from the Pegasus.
“Are you sure?” I asked. She threw me a look, and I jumped back.
“Tell us what’s wrong, Solar. We really can help.” Soothed Frost.
“There’s nothing wro,” she started.
“There’s no point. You need to tell us or we won’t leave you alone, making this party miserable for everypony.” Snapped Bubble. Solar looked up at her in surprise.
“Fine. But Aqua, please, please, don’t take this personally.” She begged.
“OK.” I whispered.
“It’s just that… for the past… well… ever since you met Bolt, I’ve been absolutely nuts about him. I was kinda fine with you two being together at first, but then I got jealous cause you guys were so… perfect together.” She said. I listened intently. “And now you’re getting married, and I sorta feel like I have no purpose. Just a sad loner.” A tear slipped out of her eye.
“Oh, Solar!” I gasped, jumping down and hugging her. “It’s OK! I just know you’ll find the perfect stallion. You’re beautiful, an alicorn, you live with Celestia and Luna… you’re like the most amazing pony in all of Equestria, and Jewel Empire!”
I gave her another tight squeeze. She smiled. “Thanks Aqua. So… you’re not offended?” she offered shyly.
“Of course not. There’s a stallion out there waiting to tell you he loves you next Hearts and Hooves day, and don’t forget it. K?” I said, standing.
“OK.” She stood too. We all walked back across the dance floor to get something to eat.

* * *
We all watched as Aka and Whirlwind twirled gracefully across the floor, the sparkling lights reflecting off the Queen’s gown onto the marble. They looked into each others eyes, making me melt.
Suddenly the magic stopped, and the dance ended with a warm kiss. We all clopped out hooves upon the floor, and they walked away from the centre of the circle.
I smiled and went to get one more small wine, when I felt somepony grab my elbow. I gasped and turned around quickly to see that Golden Bubble had gold hold of me and was giggling as she dragged me across the floor.
“Bubble! Bubble, let me go! What are you doing?” I demanded, and she shoved me into the middle of the sparkling dance floor. I heard a yell as Bolt was pushed over too my Crimson Star, on the other side.
“Well, this looks lovely, I’ll just leave now...” I said, attempting to go back to the snack table.
“No, Aqua. Everypony else had a dance with their partner, it’s your turn!” replied Bubble giving me a shove. I blushed as I noticed all the royals and guests stared at me and Bolt. I timidly walked over to him. The music began to play once again.
It was a beautiful tune, played on the piano with a violin in the background. Bolt took my hoof and smiled. He spun, twirling me around, sending my dress flowing across the floor. I came back and he wrapped his hooves around my back and stepped around in a circle. I looked into his eyes as he took me slowly around, then letting me spin again. We stepped forward, back, and around again.
I giggled. I glanced to the side and saw the others were watching me once again, making me blush and look straight back at my fiancé. Suddenly he released me, holding my one hoof as I gracefully swept down onto the floor, whipped up and fell into Bolt’s hooves.
The music soon slowed, coming to a stop, and he pulled me close and planted a kiss upon my lips. I melted and fell into him, and heard the other ponies stomp their hooves and cheer.
I blushed again and Golden Bolt led me off the floor.
“Well done, Aqua!” exclaimed Bubble, giving me a hug.
“Wow… I’ve never danced like that before!” I breathed, and she giggled.
All of a sudden the music started playing again, speeding up. Trumpets blew, the piano banged, and the music turned funky and upbeat. Bubble gasped and galloped off to meet her coltfriend, River Tide, and dance.
“You were amazing, Aqua.” Said Bolt, giving me a drink.
“Thanks, Bolt.” I said, taking a sip. “That was so scary though.”
“Yeah, but I’m used to attention!” he replied, mock boasting. I gave him a friendly nudge.
“Of course, mister knight.” I chuckled.

* * *
I sighed and curled up with my almost drunken friends on the steps to the music platform, sort of watching the royals dance.
Suddenly there were giggles and clopping hooves as two ponies approached us. It was Wildfire and her new-found friend, Princess Luna.
“Hello, Aqua!” said Wildfire. “We would like to congratulate you and Bolt on your engagement!”
“Thank, Princesses.” I replied.
“I’m sure you and your lovely stallion will have a wonderful life together, fair Aqua.” Said Luna.
I smiled. The Princess walked away. They were so funny together, like they were sort of oppositely identical. I shook my head and rested it on Frost Bite’s lazy shoulder.
Nothing could possibly go wrong now.

Postby Kodabomb » Sat Feb 23, 2013 12:22 pm

This is written from Princess Sparkle Flame's point of view. Start is pretty bad, but at the end it's pretty cool...
Image
“Come on, Sparkle!” called Princess Cadence. I looked over to see her climbing into her silver and gold carriage with Shining Armour.
I was coming with them on their tour, because Cadence wanted me to. And I thought it would be good fun.
“Coming!” I called back, and Aka gave me a small kiss on the cheek.
“Remember, Sparkle, this is Cadence and Shining Armour’s tour, so mane sure they get all the attention.” She smiled. I nodded and galloped down the steps to get into the carriage.
I climbed in, sitting next to the Princess who sat in the middle. I shut the little door and nodded to the armoured soldiers pulling it. They began to gallop, and after a few metres we took to the sky.
It was only last night that we had the party, and all the royals were beginning their Empire tour today. Aqua and Golden Bolt were having a smaller party tonight in the gardens, organised by Aqua’s friends. So it wasn’t our business.
We soured over the garden wall and over the city. I looked out at the view. It was very beautiful. The kingdom was so much prettier now that Wildfire was her good self and everything was restored.
We went high above Laheb City, just below the clouds. I sighed and rested my chin on the door.
“Oh, the Jewel Empire is just amazing, isn’t it Shining?” said Cadence, leaning over the unicorn to look out the view. She then looked out the front. “You are so lucky to live here.” She turned to me.
“Oh, and you are very lucky to live in the Crystal Empire!” I replied. “I’ve read so many books about it. And crystal ponies? That’s fascinating! Do you actually know a spell to change anypony into a crystal pony temporarily?”
“Well… I’m not sure. The Empire’s citizens are always like that, but I’ve had experiences where I’ve changed into a crystal pony. I’m not entirely sure what triggers it though…” the Princess looked at her hooves in thought.
“Hey, don’t worry. We’ll find out. We’ll be at our destination soon. I think we’re stopping at Maredura!” I replied, looking back out.
“Oh! It’s that one of the prettiest towns? I can’t wait!”

* * *
The carriage lurched and we sailed downwards towards the town square of Maredura. I looked out and saw the townsfolk running to greet us. We came down, the wheels hit the cobblestone, and we stopped. The soldiers reared.
I smiled and opened the door, stepping down from the vehicle. Shining Armour and Princess Cadence followed, and we gathered.
“Lovely citizens of Maredura, I present to you, Princess Cadence and Shining Armour of the Crystal Empire!” I called out, and the crowd cheered loudly and stomped their hooves. The couple waved and smiled. I decided to leave them be.
I tried to slip away, going through the crowd. A few ponies noticed me, and I walked down the street.
This town was very pretty. The trees were neatly kept, the houses were tidy, and there seemed to be no dirt upon the street.
In the houses above, I saw some ponies. They waved to me.
“Hello Princess Sparkle Flame!” called a mare from her balcony. I waved back to her.
“Princess Cadence and Prince Shining Armour are in the town square if you’d like to see them!” I replied. She smiled and disappeared, a moment later galloping out her door and down the street. I giggled.
I continued walking along in peaceful silence, examining the place. I was very impressed.
Suddenly I heard hoof steps and looked down in surprise. A little filly ran up to me, eyes sparkling with delight. She bounced up and down.
“Hello Princess!” she cried. “I’m a big fan! I want to be a Princess when I grow up!” She squealed.
“Hello! What’s your name?” I asked her, getting down to her level.
“My name is Orange Drop!” she said, beaming.
“Well, all hail Princess Orange Drop!” I cried, lifting her onto my back. She gasped in pure delight and I trotted down the street. I spread my wings and lifted my head as the small filly simply shrieked in delight.
I know I didn’t know her, but it was fun for both of us. And I wasn’t doing any royal business in this town today, I may as well.
Suddenly I opened my eyes and say somepony standing in front of me. It was a youngish stallion.
“Oh, hello sir.” I said.
“Daddy!” cried Orange Drop, leaping off my back and hugging the stallion around the leg.
“Hey, Orange!” he said. I looked at me and bowed. “Your highness.”
“Oh, there’s no need.” I chuckled nervously. “Sorry for playing with your daughter.”
“Oh, Daddy! The Princess put me on her back! And I was royalty! I’m gonna be a Princess when I grow up!” she yelled, bouncing around and around.
“Thanks for doing this with her. She’s a little lonely at school and stuff.” He replied, watching her. “You made her day.”
My heart melted. Poor filly. “I’m happy to help her.”

* * *
We arrived back at the palace just as the sun was lowering. I yawned and climbed from the carriage, before beginning the walk back up the steps.
I reached the door and the guards let all three of us in. I smiled to Cadence and Shining Armour. We’d had a wonderful day. I’d joined in with some things the other two were doing and I’d had great fun.
I began making my way through the palace to my bedroom. The palace was lit nicely at this time of the evening, and I calm. I needed my rest tonight after my very little sleep the previous night.
I soon arrived at my room and noticed that the others’ doors were shut. My siblings had probably already gone to bed. I walked into my room and crossed to my mirror, where I began to take off my things.
My lovely little maids, Sweet Star and Sun Chaser, joined me. Sweet began to tie my hair back. I remembered the night when Fire-Fighter came into my room, yelling at me about Wildfire that few months ago…
Sweet finished the knot in my hair, just as I heard the door open without knocking. I gasped.
“Who..?” I started, and noticed Wildfire had burst in, panting.
“Sparkle… Flame…” she puffed. “Hurry… You need to follow me. It’s an emergency!”
Horror filled my body. What could’ve gone wrong? I followed my sister and we ran down the corridor, charged up a flight of steps and turned into a hall. There was another set of spiral stairs, leading to a tower. We ran into the small room.
There was a balcony, where Wildfire pointed her hoof. I looked over in curiosity. There was somepony there.
“Hey, Fire-Fight…” I started…
Fighter was standing over somepony, who was breathing jerkily.
I choked and almost collapsed.
“FATHER!” I yelled, seeing Whirlwind lying there injured.
“Help him, Sparkle!” Fighter yelled at me. “You know magic best!” I choked again and tried a healing spell.
There was a cut across his ribs, and blood dripped out. This was no accident.
Somepony had tried to kill the king.

Fire-Fighter

Postby Kodabomb » Sat Feb 23, 2013 3:06 pm

This is written from Princess/General Fire-Fighter's point of view. It's starting to get into the important bit...
Image
I lay next to my injured father as he breathed jerkily, and Sparkle Flame slowly sealed the wound across his chest. But sealing it wasn’t going to be enough. He needed professional help.
I sniffled and addressed Wildfire. “Wild, go and fetch the palace doctors and bring mother on the way. Now!” Wildfire saluted and galloped from the balcony, charging away.
Sparkle was sweated terribly, and her blue magic slowly danced around the horrid wound. I stroked my father’s mane. What was going to happen tonight?
Sparkle Flame was tired, and her magic was weak. This was the worst time. She was making good progress, but slow. If it was too slow he could die…
It was only a matter of minutes when Wildfire skidded to a halt at the balcony, and Aka charged over. She screamed at the sight.
“No! Whirlwind!” she yelled, and I jumped up as she took my place. She began kissing him and stroking him. “No, no, no, no, no….” she whispered.
“It’s OK Mother…” I sniffed, patting her shoulder,.
“Sparkle, do you want me…” Aka started. But the Princess shook her head and focused. If her spell was broken it could be over.
Suddenly there were yells and hoof-steps as the doctors and nurses ran to our aid. A unicorn doctor rapidly conjured up a stretched and we helped to lift him on. Sparkle Flame did not break off, even as we charged at top speed through the palace.
We reached hospital ward momentarily.
“Away! Away!” yelled a nurse, signalling for everypony in the ward to move. We came to a bed and lay him down, Aka sobbing beside Whirlwind.
“Your highness, the King has a good chance of survival.” Said a doctor, as he began grabbing necessary equipment in his magic and placing it around. “I may ask you to leave, but I’ll need Princess Sparkle Flame for the moment to keep her magic on.”
Aka wiped her eyes and nodded. I led her from the room and we shut the door behind us, waiting by the statues guarding the hospital.
“Mother, who did this?” I asked. She shook her head.
“I have no idea, Fighter.” She whispered.
“It was deliberate… but who could it have been?” I whispered, mainly to myself.
Wildfire came to join us. “Maybe… maybe it was somepony from another kingdom. One of the guests.” She said, obviously overhearing our conversation.
“Oh, Wild. I doubt that.” Replied Aka, smiling nervously. “We had this dinner for the peace, with carefully chosen world leaders. Nopony could’ve done this.”
“Well… saying that I believe you.” I put in.
Suddenly there were thundering hooves and somepony ran to us. Storm Cloud.
“Oh sweet Celestia!” he yelled. “What’s happened?”
“Somepony tried to kill Father.” Replied Wildfire. I watched Storm’s face completely flop.
“Oh no.” he whispered. “Can I… can I go in?” he asked.
“No. But the doctor said he should be fine. Don’t worry, Storm.” I replied. He looked really stressed and he glanced at the floor.
“OK.” He replied.

* * *
I opened my eyes slowly and looked around. I was lying on the blue carpet of the hall outside the hospital. My fringe was all over my face and I blew it away.
“What…?” I moaned, standing. The others were all around me too, fast asleep.
And I was just in time to see two changelings arrive.
Vespula and Apis were galloping down the corridor, having just heard about the accident. They came to the door.
“What happened?” asked Vespula urgently.
“Whirlwind. He’s injured.” I replied. “Somepony tried to kill him.” Suddenly it hit me. I never trusted changelings. What if it was them?
I snorted and leapt up, pinning Vespula to the wall on my hind legs. She gasped.
“Did you do this?” I growled. “Did you changelings try to kill my father? You insects?”
“What? No! Why would we do such a thing?” gasped Vespula, struggling.
“Fire-Fighter, please stop…” started Apis, putting a hoof on my shoulder.
“No! I don’t trust you! You’re all probably just as bad as that changeling Chrysalis.” I growled fiercely. Vespula looked scared.
“I promise! Aka and Whirlwind are good friends! And we’re not like Chrysalis! Please just let me go!” she whimpered.
“Fighter! What on earth are you doing?” I heard a voice demand. I looked across and saw Storm Cloud. “Let Empress Vespula go at once!”
“But they’re evil…” I started.
“Now, Fighter.” Said Storm darkly. I snorted and got down, and Vespula stood back on four hooves. “I am so, so sorry, your highnesses.”
“It’s fine. I didn’t expect your citizens to trust us anyway.” Replied Apis. “But I swear we did not do this.”
“Were you accusing the Emperor and Empress of this?” yelled Storm at me. I whimpered and shrunk. I didn’t like it when he was angry.
“I’m sorry…”
“Don’t make accusations, Fighter. You’re a General and a Princess, and you should know better.” I looked down in shame. His outburst awoke Aka and Wildfire. I was surprised they didn’t wake before.
But they didn’t have a chance to speak when the hospital door opened.
“Your highnesses. He’s ready to see you now.” Said the doctor.
We all walked in, with the Changelings staying behind to watch. Whirlwind was lying upon his bed, a large bandage wrapped around his chest and neck.
“Oh, Aka!” he groaned, and she ran to him.
“Whirlwind! I’m so happy you’re fine!” she cried, kissing him.
“Father, did you see what happened, up on the balcony?” I asked. The King looked down in thought.
“Well… I was standing on the balcony, just over-looking the city and gardens. I was about to go for a fly when I heard whistling wind, felt an icy cold blow and I collapsed. It was really cold… then I passed out, probably from blood loss. Then all I remember is waking here.” He replied with a moan.
I thought about it. Cold? Wind? Icy blow? What did this mean? It was spring! And I couldn’t think of anything that would add up to it…
Obviously Sparkle had been thinking too.
“We need the library.” She said.

Wildfire

Postby Kodabomb » Sun Feb 24, 2013 12:03 pm

This is written from Princess Wildfire's point of view. What's gonna happen...?
Image
I snorted in frustration and threw the book aside with my magic.
“Sparkle!” I cried. “There is nothing in here! How on earth are we supposed to find who hurt Father if there’s no information!” I glared at my sister, who was deeply immersed in a book.
“Mm hm.” She mumbled, turning the page. I dropped my jaw. What was she reading? We were supposed to discover any creature that may have the ability to do such a thing as it did to Whirlwind, and I didn’t know where to look. I didn’t have a good enough description.
“Wild’s totally right.” Huffed Fighter, walking around a bookshelf levitating heaps of books around her in circles. “You or Father didn’t give us enough.” She paused. “Sparkle, what are you reading?” she asked suspiciously.
“Something.” She muttered.
“Well, it better be good for our situation!” snorted Fighter, throwing her books in the corner.
“Hey! Don’t treat books that way!” cried Sparkle, slamming her book shut. I grabbed it in a my magic and opened it.
“Oooh!” I said, looking at the pictures.
“Wild,” chuckled Sparkle Flame. “You’re not supposed to look at the pictures. Read it! But I really don’t think this is what we’re looking for.”
“It’s a book on evil creatures!” I said.
“Yes. Only ones that could be a threat.” Replied Sparkle, trying to put her hoof on the page. I whipped it away. “I’ve read about some creatures. But the fact that Father said ‘icy cold’ and ‘whistling wind’ doesn’t point to changelings or dragons or anything like that.”
“Windigoes?” offered Fighter, looking over my shoulder.
“But Windigoes are only there if there’s friction between ponies.” Replied Sparkle. “And there are no blizzards or anything, and Windigoes wouldn’t go near anypony like that. The whole issue with Wildfire’s passed, so it can’t be that.”
“OK, OK, no need to go on about it.” Mumbled Fighter. Sparkle glared at her.
“Well, there’s nothing. Windigoes seal it. There are no more creatures in that book.” I said.
There was silence for a moment.
“But what if the right creature isn’t actually in a book we know of?” asked Fighter, looking around.
“I suppose there’s the outdated section.” I suggested.
“Wait here.” Said Fighter, charging off. Within moments she was back, carrying a huge load of old dusty book. Sparkle and I stepped back and she plonked them down on the ground.
I coughed from all the dust. How long were these down there?
“OK everypony, more reading!” exclaimed Sparkle, grabbing some books. Fighter and I groaned.

* * *
“Girls! Girls!” cried Sparkle Flame suddenly. I looked at my sister and we dropped our books, charging over to her.
“What? Did you find something?” asked Fighter urgently.
“Yes! And it fits in with Father’s very short description.” She replied. She flicked a couple of pages and held it up to our faces briefly.
I looked at the picture, the words too small to read from that distance. Sparkle pulled it back and began reading.
“Hiems.” She started. “The hiem is a wicked creature that resides in the ice of the mountains. For thousands of years they have posed no threat on the Jewel Empire, after being defeated in a deadly war upon it’s founding. These creatures have very unusual powers.
“First of all, hiems can create storms. Unicorns can do that too, but they have a way of making them bigger, deadlier and very long-lived. They are extremely fast moving. All of them have both wings and a horn. Touching their bodies can give frost bite from the bitter cold.
“However, some information on these advanced creatures has not been discovered. They have not been sighted in so many years, explorers and researchers cannot get any more.” Sparkle Flame finished and held the picture up again.
It was a white creature that looked very similar to a pony. It had a slightly longer face like an alicorn, as well as a very slim body with tall legs. Their eyes were yellow with slit pupils, their wings had a few more feathers than a normal Pegasus, and their horns were smooth and curved. The ears were tall and pointed, their hair long, blue and flowing. It was also on their ankles. They wore armour made from what looked like lapis-lazuli like the changelings. And out of their eyes flowed a strange-looking aqua aura.
I was getting very curious. No more information? We needed that information if that’s what happened to Whirlwind! How could these creatures not be sighted in thousands of years? That’s even before Equestria was ruled by Luna and Celestia! We needed more. But I really doubted there’d be any more books with such facts.
“Wow.” Said Fighter. She looked excited too.
“It’s fascinating, isn’t it!” agreed Sparkle, turning the book to herself again. “I sure hope this is the same creature.”
“But in thousands of years surely these things would’ve died out!” said Fighter. “You don’t find it strange or oddly coincidental that they just appeared out of nowhere? At this time, when we have other kingdoms’ royals?”
“I know, Fighter. It’s very, very odd. But it’s the only thing that fits. We need to discover more; they are posing a threat.” Said Sparkle quietly. “If they succeed at killing Father or maybe even Mother and us, they could take the Empire. We must know more.”

Storm Cloud

Postby Kodabomb » Sun Feb 24, 2013 2:50 pm

This one is written from Prince Storm Cloud's point of view.
Image
I trotted up to the library door and opened it with my magic, stepping inside.
Books. Lots and lots of books. They were strewn all over the beautiful floor, with pages everywhere. Where were my sisters?
“Girls?” I called out. No answer. “Come on, where are you?” I stepped carefully over the mess and walked down the long aisle of book.
I soon found myself at the back of the room by the door to the outdated section. I was about to open it when suddenly it was surrounded by orange magic and it burst open. I yelled out and jumped aside as my three energetic sisters charged from the room, running past me.
Wildfire noticed me over her shoulder. “Come on, Storm! We’ve got it!” she called. I wondered what she was talking about. But I galloped after them nonetheless.
We leapt over the books and charged to the door, throwing it open. We bolted down the corridor.
“Where are we going?” I panted.
“To Father and Mother!” replied Fighter. I groaned. I’d just been there.
We ran up and down corridors and stairs, through rooms and around surprised ponies in the hall.
“Please, we’re not doing anything important, right? Can’t we walk?” I caught up to them. I noticed that neither me or Fighter were wearing our armour.
Very soon we came to the top of the stairs and went to our parents’ bedroom door. We stopped running, finally, and Sparkle knocked.
“Who is it?” asked Aka.
“Who do you think?” replied Sparkle. The door was opened with green magic from the inside and we stepped into the room.
Whirlwind was lying in the huge curtained bed, the bandage wrapped around him. Aka stood next to him holding a tray of tea and biscuits.
“Hello again.” I said.
“Guess what Mother, Father!” cried Sparkle, joining them. “We’ve got the right information!”
“Oh, I doubt it Sparkle. We have not evidence.” Replied Aka patiently, as Whirlwind lifted a biscuit into his mouth.
“Oh, but we do! Just the tiniest from what Father said! And it fits!” she pushed eagerly, flicking through the dusty book. I was wondering what they had.
“But I didn’t actually see what hurt me.” Said Whirlwind, puzzled.
“But you said ‘icy cold’ and ‘whistling wind’.” Replied Wildfire, pointing the page that Sparkle had it on.
“So we though it was these ones.” Said Sparkle Flame, showing the book to our parents. Now I was really curious.
“Hiems…?” muttered Whirlwind. “Oh, but girls! These are probably all extinct!” he chuckled. Aka placed the tray down and Whirlwind moved up a little.
Fighter stomped her hoof in frustration. Then Wildfire brought a book over.
“Here’s more information on them. This book is super old.” She said. Aka grabbed it and read it aloud.
“When they were defeated, the Hiem army and their Queen were thrown almost from existence. For 3000 years they were to be frozen in the ice of Death Points. Not alive, but not dead either. Within 400 years the popular legend was forgotten, and nopony was ever worried about the Hiem army returning.
“The legend does say they will return after 3000 years, but nopony knows if it’s true. And that the Queen will re-claim the Empire as her own, and freeze the ponies for eternity.” Aka finished and looked suspiciously at the book.
“I didn’t know of that legend.” Muttered Whirlwind.
“And if it’s a legend it’s not true.” Agreed Aka, returning the book to Wildfire. But Sparkle argued.
“And all the Equestrian ponies though that the Mare in the Moon was a tale! Tell us exactly what happened.” She said, glaring at our parents.
“Sparkle, I,” started Aka.
“The Mare in the Moon returned after 1000 years. Precisely like what the books said.” Said Fighter triumphantly. “I think that if that unbelievable story was true, this unbelievable story is true.”
“Girls, that’s enough rubbish for today. Whirlwind needs his rest, not stories that have nothing to do with what’s happening.” Snapped Aka, waving her hoof. I just stood there in silence. Was all this true? Now I was as determined as my sisters.
“Let’s go. We’ll tell them.” Muttered Fighter, shoving Sparkle and Wildfire to the door. I looked back at my parents, not really sure. But they weren’t looking at us, so I ran after them.
We reached the door, went through, and shut it behind us. We began walking.
“Storm, do you believe it?” asked Wildfire with sparkling, eager eyes. I smiled.
“Of course. And I’m willing to help my little sisters. I think this is true.” I said. She beamed.
“Thanks Storm.” Said Sparkle Flame, and we reached the stairs.
“I think we need to find out about these Death Points.” I said, walking down. “Are they same sort of mountain range?”
“Yes. Quite far away. It’s not really even in a kingdom. It’s like this small, cold, territory that nopony ever visits.” Replied Sparkle. “I’m pretty sure it’s between the Jewel Empire and some other place. It’s hard to travel there because of the mountains.” We reached the bottom of the stairs.
“It sounds really spooky.” Said Wildfire.
We rounded a turn and suddenly Fire-Fighter fell over. And so did the pony she bumped into.
“Oh, hey Dusk!” said Fighter, standing and helping the Pegasus up.
“Hi guys! Um, what are you doing?” she asked.
“Researching. You heard about last night, didn’t you?” asked Wildfire.
“Yes, I did! It’s awful. So, what are you finding out?” she said, beginning to walk with us.
“Who did it.” I replied. She looked at me strangely.
“And how do you suppose you’ll do that?” she said with a raised eyebrow.
“Ugh, books. Lots and lots of books.” Said Fighter with a eye-roll. Sparkle snorted.
“It’s not like we can asked anypony. I don’t think there’s somepony who’s lived… that… long…” she stopped. I had the exact same thought.
“Princess Celestia!” we cried out together.

Dusk

Postby Kodabomb » Sun Feb 24, 2013 7:01 pm

This is written from Dusk's point of view.
Image
We came to the bottom of the tower steps leading to Celestia and Luna’s suite. We began the ascent.
Suddenly there was a voice up the stairs near us. “Thank you, dear sister! I’ll be back soon!” suddenly Princess Luna bumped into us.
“Why hello! How are all of you this afternoon?” she said with a smile.
“Fine thank you, your highness.” I said on behalf of the others.
“We heard about the attack on the King. Tis terrible. We will help in whatever way, but now we must go.” She said. We smiled and nodded to her. “Celestia! Somepony’s here to see you!” she called up the stairs.
We climbed up and just as we reached the door Princess Celestia opened it.
“What a lovely surprise! Please come in.” she said with a kind smile. We all traipsed in and she shut the door.
“And what do I owe the pleasure?” she asked.
“Well, your highness,” said Sparkle Flame. “We were wondering if you could help us with something?”
“Of course! Here,” the sun Princess replied. She levitated some large cushions and placed them all around her mat. She lay down and we all lay on our cushions. “So. What did you want to ask me? Take however long you need. Luna won’t be back in a while.” She added.
“Well. I know you heard of the attack on our father.” Said Sparkle. “We were curious as to who did it.”
“And we’ve collected heaps of information.” Put in Wildfire. I intensely listened. I didn’t actually know.
“But we need more, to convince Mother and Father it’s real. Which it is, Princess.” Said Fighter.
“Here.” Said Sparkle. She held up the book that Wildfire had. “This is the legend I’m sure you’ve heard of. And we just know it’s the source of this.”
Celestia took the book and began to read. We waited in silence as her eyes went across the page. In a minute she was done.
“Well?” said Storm nervously.
“I don’t doubt this is real. It happened not long before I was born. My parents told me about it.” She said. “But the Hiems are long gone! They were frozen in the ice of the Death Points.” Sparkle groaned in frustration.
“3000 years!” she said. “I’m sure that it’s been precisely 3000 years since this happened. There is complete proof these creatures have escaped recently, and tried to take the Empire.” Celestia did not look taken aback. She was in thought. I was too. Was that true? I didn’t actually know what a Hiem was. But frozen in ice? Creepy.
“OK. You win. You’ve made a very good point, Princess.” She said. “But their powers are so strong! If this is truly going to happen…”
“The kingdom will die. But you have to help us!” said Wildfire.
“I don’t know if it will happen! And I don’t know the strength of the Queen and her army yet. I can’t make promises to help protect your Empire if we don’t know if it’s under attack in the first place.” She said.
“But do you promise to help if it does happen?” asked Fighter.
“Of course.” She said with a smile. “And our Equestrian army will fight for your kingdom however strong the force is. But keep studying, young princesses and prince.”
“Thank you so much, Princess.” Said Sparkle Flame, getting to her hooves. “Come on guys.” She waved to Celestia and all followed her to the door.
“Good luck!” she called. We filed onto the steps and shut the door.
We began going down the stares. I was bewildered.
“Is this really going to happen?” I asked excitedly. “Is there a whole army frozen in the mountains?”
“Yes Dusk.” Replied Fighter. “And they’re dangerous.”
“I’m so excited! I can’t believe it… Wait, the kingdom’s under attack?!” I cried.
The others nodded.
“Oh no! We need to prepare ourselves! This is terrible! We’re all going to die! They’ll kill the royals! And Dawn and I! They’ll,” I was panicking. Wildfire put a hoof on my mouth.
“Calm down Dusk. You don’t need to worry. But you do need to worry about keeping your sister waiting. It’s time to raise the moon!” she giggled nervously.
Oh, the moon.
“Thanks!” I galloped off down the corridor.

* * *
I nodded to Dawn and suddenly fel the warm glow against my chest. My necklace lit up and I lifting myself into the air. I used all my willpower to grab the moon, hauling it up. Dawn lowered the sun, dimming the light, and I dragged the white lantern into the sky.
Soon it was going up, and I slowly lifting it. The sunlight disappeared.
I released my magic in my chest, lurching. I flapped my wings and slowly landed on the balcony.
“Very pretty tonight, isn’t it?” sighed my sister. I suddenly remembered the Hiem issue.
“Dawn… I need to tell you something that’ll creep you out.” I said. She turned to me curiously. “You see… the Empire’s probably under attack.” My sister’s eyes widened.
“WHAT?” she yelled, flaring her wings.
“Probably, Dawn, probably!” I cried. “Calm down!”
“How’s it under attack? Who by? When? Where? Why? How?” she panicked, spinning around.
“Stop! Dawn! Just…settle.” I said.
“Dusk, what are you talking about? How is it under attack?” she asked.
“These creatures… Hiems. They sound unstoppable. But I only heard a little bit from the conversation between Celestia and the Princesses and Prince.” I said.
“This is awful! Do Aka and Whirlwind know?” she asked. We began walking inside.
“They do by the sounds of things. But don’t believe it.” I replied. “They needed to know from Celestia.
“This is awful. Now I’m scared, Dusk.” She whimpered. I put my hoof around her shoulder.
“It’s OK. Get some rest and we’ll find out more in the morning.” I smiled. She nodded and went to her room. I watched the door shut.
I sighed. This was really bad. And I’d only heard the start.

Golden Bolt

Postby Kodabomb » Tue Feb 26, 2013 5:37 pm

This is written from Golden Bolt's point of view.

Aqua and I walked down the streets of Laheb City, taking in the busy, urban surroundings. The hotel we were staying at was just around the corner.
I suddenly spotted a small store to the left of me. A chocolate shop.
“Aqua, you just… wait here.” I said to my fiancé.
“Um, OK!” she said. She walked over to a little table beneath and tree and sat down. I trotted into the shop, making the bell above the door sound.
All around me were shelves and shelves of the absolute finest brands of chocolate in the Empire. Chocolate bars, treat chocolates, melting chocolate, white chocolate, cream-filled chocolate… and little heart-shaped ones wrapped in red foil.
I approached the mare at the counter and she smiled at me.
“Hello, young sir!” she exclaimed. “I think I recognise you. Sir. Golden Bolt is it? The very stallion who had his engagement party at the palace?”
“Yeah, that’s me.” I replied awkwardly.
“What can I get you?” she asked.
“I’d like some chocolate for my marefriend.” I replied.
“Ah, yes. Well, here’s some very fine valentine’s chocolates, crafted with care in the village of Draften.” She said, showing me a brown box with red patterns.
“Oh, perfect! She’s just outside.” I said. I pushed over some gems, grabbed the box and ran outside.
Aqua was still waiting across the street under her tree. I hid the box behind my back.
“Guess what I’ve got.” I said with a cheeky smile.
“I can never guess with you.” She giggled. I held out the chocolates. Her eyes widened and sparkled. “Oh, Bolt! Thank you so, so much!” she cried, giving me a huge hug.
“It’s OK. I couldn’t get any less for you.” I said. She smiled kindly.
“Come on. We’ll share them back at the hotel.” She said, holding the chocolate in her magic.
Just as we rounded the turn and were heading towards the hedged path of the hotel, I heard flapping wings and galloping hooves. We whipped around and saw two palace soldiers running to us.
“Golden Bolt, your presence is required immediately.” Said one of them.
“What for? Can’t I just spend time with Aqua now?” I moaned.
“You’re the highest knight, and this is extremely important. General Fire-Fighter needs you at the courtyards.” He replied gruffly. I turned and looked desperately at Aqua.
“Go.” She said. “I promise not to open these until you’re back.”
“Oh… OK. Lead me.” I said. We galloped down the street and then took to the sky. We zoomed swiftly over the city, coming towards the palace. In a few moments we flew over the wall and swooped into the courtyard.
We touched down and Fire-Fighter immediately ran over to us. “Golden Bolt, we need to get to Draften immediately.” She said gravely but hurriedly. Draften? The place the chocolates were made?
“What for, General?” I asked.
“Emergency. I’m not sure what though, but the mayor requested we come now.” She replied. “Come on, soldiers!” she called behind her.
“But I’m not wearing my armour.” I replied. She turned and lit up her horn, focusing. Suddenly out of thin air appeared a set of armour. It wasn’t mine, but it would do. I quickly put it on. I ran to get into the formation with the others and suddenly Fighter ran and took off. We all soared up as well, a few advanced unicorns using the flying spell.
We went very quickly over the city and were soon out of it, flying over the meadows and forest. This seemed rather urgent.

In about fifteen minutes we were swooping down towards the village. But… there seemed to be no village.
A large layer of white snow lay over the buildings, and above our heads was a dark storm. Snow? In Spring?
We soared down and landed in the snow-cleared square, where we were quickly greeted by the mayor. She was wrapped in a scarf and shivering.
“Oh, thank goodness, General!” she exclaimed. “We need your help. Our town is in danger, the snow just keeps piling up! Many of the citizens are trapped in their houses or trapped out.”
“Do you know the cause?” I asked.
“Not at all. It happened last night. And it was very hot yesterday, so this is odd.” She said, looking around. It was very strange.
“I have an idea of who did this…” muttered Fighter.
“What?” I asked.
“It’s… oh, you won’t believe it. And it’s too long to explain. And Mother and Father certainly won’t believe.” She replied, walking across the square. Now my curiosity was burning up inside me. “This storm was terrible! I’ve never seen something so bad! Not even in winter.”
“Do you need to investigate further, General?” asked the mayor, wrapping her scarf tighter around her neck.
“No. I need to meet my sisters and brother back at the palace. When I return I’ll send some soldiers to help clear the snow, OK?” she replied.
“Of course. Thank you very much.” Said the mayor, smiling weakly.
“But I’m pretty sure it won’t be the last of it, at all. I need you and the ponies of Draften to keep an eye out, and if you see more bad weather coming lock yourselves inside immediately. You may receive further instructions in the next few days.” The mayor nodded and Fighter beckoned for us to make our formation. We then took off into the icy clouds and swooped back over the land.
What was happening? What kind of freak storm was this? It was the spring, and many towns were getting prepared for the start of summer festival. But now Draften was flattened with snow.
Had somepony targeted this helpless village? Some unicorn or Pegasus who could change the weather dramatically enough to do this? And why did Fire-Fighter want to meet with her siblings instead of her parents or the knights?
I was about to ask but held it back. She sounded serious, and I didn’t want to mess with it. General Fire-Fighter definitely knew best, and nopony in the army should ever question her plans.
So I went along with it an continued flying to the city.
