- ... I slowly turned my head until my cheek was resting against the cool metal slab beneath me. The sight before my eyes caused my heart to miss a beat, thumping against my rib-cage like a startled bird. A whimper slipped between my clenched teeth and I closed my eyes again, hoping that when I took another look at the room around me, I would be somewhere else. Anywhere else. Please, I prayed to anyone who could be listening, Please take me away from here. Please let this be a dream. I waited for another moment and then inched my eyelids open. I couldn't hold back the sob this time. It echoed around the massive room, the single noise bouncing back and forth until it became unbearable. And then it dissipated into the air, and I was alone again. Alone in the room. Alone in the room, surrounded by rows of people, all of identical metal slabs, their eyes closed and arms crossed over their chests. They were covered in white sheets which left only their heads in sight, but no air was leaving their lips, and their chests were still.
They weren't people. They were bodies. I was surrounded by bodies.
I was in a morgue. Did that mean that I was dead, too? ...
- above is a snippet of my next writing project. instead of writing a blurb, i thought i'd include an excerpt, because they're always more interesting. it doesn't really give much of an idea of what is going to happen, but still, i hope anyone who reads it finds it interesting, and decides to stick around for more. :>
