"Hush, Child..."
They would tell me; my eyes were jammed closed from the fear I was now enduring. I couldn't imagine the danger that I was in. They took me away; they continued to murmur my name. "Quiet, now, Princess Venus," a voice would whisper against me. The warmth of the silk covers on my bed, snatched away with me, and everything was now melting into the distance, weakening into mere shadows.
A screech. An arrow shot across the sky, and with a yelp of anguish from my protector, I opened my eyes. Before me was a tall man. Blood was drawn, causing crimson to fleck the grass. He staggered over in pain, pale, the sounds nearing. The arrow that had once impaled him was thrown from his body and he flailed himself back upwards, clutching me tighter before he retreated into the bushes.
