I've been neglecting my thumb-twiddling exercises. Any more of this waiting and I'll have to take it up again.

What about an impatient army of thumb-twiddlers? Red can be innocently doing homework or what-not, but she'll be distracted by a strange whispering noise.
(As it turns out, when a large group of people twiddle their thumbs in synchronization, it creates whispering sounds.)
They'll follow Red wherever she goes. They'll be at every door. She'll not get rid of them; she can't lose them.)

Just a thought to mull over.

I read this and think that if I had been writing it, Kyran would be dead, and Laurel would be beating everyone up.
