yay! thanks for the warm welcome... I was apart of this once,
but mostly everyone ignored me... so I thought I'd try again!

yup. I'm so proud of myself, I posted TWO posts today.. back to back, and both were long...
I actually want to do ten posts per chapter, is this a good idea? or should I abort?

So does anyone ever consider visiting Tumblr for prompt ideas? It's a really good idea. I found two last night without even trying - one was just words from a mouth of a little girl, probably like 6 years old, as an explanation as to why her older cousin's hands are so cold. Neither were written as "someone should write a book..." Format, though there's plenty of those.

So let's do a short story prompt party!! You have these two to choose from, and write it any way you want.

Cold Hands
"I think your hands are always so cold because your boyfriend is a ghost and he holds your hand a lot."
Based on that. Just that xD go to town, go anywhere with that idea because it's so vague. Cold hands because of a ghost.

Mirrors
Mirrors aren't really glad and that's not really your reflection, it's an alternate world and alternate you. That world is an exact replica of ours in every way except one, and your reflection will never let you cross into their world for this reason.

I plan on doing both. xD anyone else wanna go for it?

-------I could hear everyone bustling around in the living and dining rooms. My mother had called my name countless times, but I was set on staying in my room, away from a family that I had been alienating for the past year. It took her twenty more minutes before she finally showed up at my door with a mug of hot cocoa and commanded me to come spend family-time. I groaned.
-------"Jamo came all the way from Florida to see you," she reminded me. It wasn't that I'd forgotten, it was just that I wasn't entirely on board with the entire idea that he left his cushy life of oranges and sunshine for two weeks and traded it for a bleak, blizzard-ridden stay in Marquette, Michigan, just to see how I was doing.
-------I rounded the corner into the living room and saw my younger cousins, Veronica and Eric. Veronica was eight and Eric was two, and Uncle Jamosen's wife Patricia was pregnant with another. The new baby was supposed to be a boy, but Veronica had, apparently, been leaving comments that she didn't want another brother. Uncle Jamo saw me and grinned, the smile ensnaring his eyes and reaching his ears. He swept me into an almost bone-crushing hug that seemed to last for hours.
-------"You've grown," he announced. "And you look underweight."
-------"Stress," I responded. He nodded, his expression softening and turning into an almost apologetic grimace.
-------He looked at my hands and noticed the mittens. Six months before, right after my seventeenth birthday, I was diagnosed with lupus. Among an armada of other symptoms, cold hands and feet were one of them, and it was just one of many things I had to deal with daily. My mother had bought me mittens the week before, per request, along with a pair of woolen socks and some fuzzy indoor boots. He said nothing about them, and I assumed he knew.
-------"Have you been talking to someone?" he asked, his voice growing quiet as we walked away from the hubbub and into the kitchen for some privacy. He was referring to a therapist. I shook my head. He said, "I think it would help."
-------"I'm perfectly fine." This was a lie. Every night, I had flashbacks of the accident: I was with Will, whom I was deeply and unconditionally in love with. He wasn't officially my boyfriend; he had been my best friend for over five years, and we had just started going out on dates and holding hands and the like. We were on our way back from a double-datte with some of his friends at the cinema when we were t-boned by a truck. Apparently we'd flipped twice before slamming into a telephone pole. I was in the hospital for two weeks with fractured ribs and a broken wrist. That pain did not compare to the pain of losing William. The pain in my chest did not stem from my ribs; the pain in my wrist was not what lead me to repeatedly press the button for more painkillers.
-------Jamo just pulled me into another hug, and we walked back into the living room. Veronica ran up to me shouting, "Want to play Barbies?!" over and over.
-------I smiled unconvincingly. Veronica didn't notice, and dragged me to her spot on the floor full of Barbie clothes and shoes. I picked up the brunette one, which had obviously been laid out for me, and smiled. We played with the dolls for about ten minutes when Veronica grabbed my hand.
-------"I think your hands are always so cold because your boyfriend is a ghost and he holds your hand a lot," she said, softly, after a moment. Totally dumbfounded, I looked around to see if anybody else had heard what she said. But nobody was paying attention and, just like she'd never said anything, Veronica was looking at me expectantly, with Barbie in one hand and Ken in the other.
-------I spent all night thinking about it, and, when I finally turned in for the night, I didn't wear my gloves to bed. I knew it was silly, and I knew my hands were cold because of a disease I could not control; but when my fingers began to eventually feel chilled right before I fell asleep, I found myself smiling.
-------I did not have nightmares that night.
