Roll says... 1: Get more cats on your side.
"I'm going to get the Clan onto our side," you say after a moment of thought. "If we can sway opinions our way, it shouldn't be too hard to properly punish Beefur and the others, even if we can't find enough physical evidence."
"That sounds good." Eveningstar nods. "I'm afraid I can't really help you any further. I need to play along until everything is ready, for the Clan's sake. Can you manage this on your own?"
"What exactly have I been doing this whole time?" you reply.
Her smile seems a little more genuine. "Please remember to be careful. We're not on a time limit, at least for now. Once I appoint our next deputy, everything should be still from there. You need to lay low and stay cautious."
"Of course." You nod, and stand up. The familiar fire is in your heart again. "I'll take care of it. One way or another, this is going to be resolved."
Eveningstar tilts her head a little, gazing at your fondly. "You're a brave young cat, Rookpaw. Crowcloud must be so proud of you."
You slowly raise your head and look to the fading stars. "I sure hope so."

The next two weeks are spent normally, at least for you - Hailfang is elected deputy and Beefur, satisfied, keeps his activity down. You can't think of anywhere else to look, and Knotpaw is unable to track down Jayface, so you settle for spreading paranoia. You're careful about it, doing nothing more than slyly hinting and innocently asking where any of the three remaining cats are or if anyone's seen Jayface. Search parties have produced nothing, but they note that there was an odd scent along the border at one point.
Knotpaw can't understand your sudden inactivity. You try to explain to her that it's all part of the plan, but she doesn't get it, and proceeds to investigate on her own. You're quick to warn her about being careful, but you can't convince her to play along with you. She thoroughly sniffs all over the territory while you stick to training with Applefoot, who's much warmer towards you since you lost Crowcloud. You quickly grow to appreciate her company.
All Skills +3.
Cinderpaw, meanwhile, has a sudden improvement in her behavior since the fallout with Knotpaw. She doesn't harass anyone or snappily respond to others - instead, she just quietly goes about her business, and obeys orders without so much as a remark. At first, you're suspicious, but when she humbly asks you to help her go hunting you ease up a little and freely talk with her. She's surprisingly quiet while you talk, and though she doesn't exactly laugh or tell any jokes, she does faintly smile now and then.
Knotpaw, out of both a wary memory and her own focus on the conspiracy, doesn't interact with her very much, but their fleeting conversations are polite and lack any of the previous aggression. You don't ask Knotpaw to hang out with her again, though you do bring up Cinderpaw's improved behavior.
Brightkit and Cloverkit become apprentices - Brightpaw goes right to the medicine den (Divercloud is, for him, unusually excited), and Cloverpaw gets Kitestorm, as he's the only cat who can keep up with her energy (and the two are a great fit, personality-wise). Sparrowpelt is eager to get back to Clan life and promptly starts going on every patrol she can. For a while, you almost forget everything that's happened so far.
Until one day, when you're out by yourself at the water, and Thriftwhisker finds you.
"Can...can I talk to you a minute?" he says, voice shaky. He's become ragged and sleepless, and you think he's been tearing some of his fur out.
Answer warily.
Answer politely.
Ignore him.
Say nothing.
