Fantasy. wrote:Hi okay so this is a excerpt of something I'm writing. Curious as to whether its written decently and flows good? You won't understand whats going on, sorry, but I'm just looking for a nice grammar check.
I think you should try and differentiate speakers more. Ex. In paragraph 2, I do not know who was saying Sadie until reading it over for a while. There's also 2 women on the stage, which wasn't mentioned before.
I'd suggest adding detail before the current first paragraph, mainly so that the auditorium and people on stage could be seen.
Also, perhaps break up quotes, which usually helps differentiate who is talking.
I'm gonna make this look good someday

When I write, I always have a rocky beginning. I've always tried finishing the story first, then going back and revising, but it doesn't work. It always seems to start too slow, or so fast no one can understand much.
Anyone have tips on writing a good beginning?

Well then that's fantastic! You always have to be careful regardless. I get so mad when I hear about writers and other creative people getting scammed - creative people already have a hard enough time in this world. But if it's legit, then that's really great! ^^ Especially with your own artwork! As for which you should work on - focus on the story you feel the most passionate about. One you can see yourself being able to work on weeks and months, possibly years from now and won't want to give up on. The one that's the most interesting and personal to you. Best of luck!
yes,, i will still step lightly and make sure i make the right decisions,, i don't want to be cheated out of money or my own work. and yeah,, i'm so excited that i get to design the cover and what ever little drawings i want to include throughout the book! i'll go over my stories tonight and decide on one to stick too c: and ah,, thank you so much!

I just had this conversation with somebody last night, I'm in the same boat. Can't for the life of me figure out a good place to start; cue the panicking with November just around the corner!
A lot of stories like to drop the reader right into the action, it sets a fast pace and can be a good hook. If you still can't figure something out, try looking at the first page or two of a couple books - ones you particularly like. Figure out how they started; what you liked and didn't like about it, and try replicating the method.
Best of luck to you! Hope I could be of assistance.

I have the worst addiction ever: I can't stop starting new stories. I think I currently have 16-18 going on right now. Ugh... And I'm rather reluctant to let any of them go, seeing as I don't like to just quit something once I've worked hard on it, even if I've gotten nowhere with it.

oh my gosh i have the exact same problem. an idea for a new story will pop into my head so i rush and start writing it down,, forgetting about my previous project. but them after a while i'll lose interest in it, and the process starts all over again. now it's a horrible habit that i just can't get out of,, i can't stick to one story until the end.

*Sigh* Woe to us and all others like us. I tend to go back and forth between projects. For a while I was going crazy with my first project, Bound for Freedom. I wrote, like, almost fifteen chapters in a few weeks. Then I started going nuts about a different one, though not nearly as much(sadly). I slowly lost interest in that, and now I have three new ones that each have half a chapter, except for My Icy Kingdom, which has the whole first chapter(amazing, isn't it? not.
).
