Roll says... 8: Sorry about that.
"Oh, sorry," you say quickly. "I wasn't looking where I was going."
"Yes, that was obvious," says the molly, but she doesn't sound angry. She sits down, quickly puts some of her fur back in order and turns back to you calmly. "Then again, neither was I. It-" She pauses, and tilts her head to look at you better. "Are you that stumpy kid Charlie owns?"
"Well, she doesn't own me anymore, but yes," you reply. "I don't imagine there's many other three-legged cats here."
Reputation +1.
"Alright, then." She relaxes a little more and continues grooming. "What're you doing out here all on your lonesome?"
"I'm actually looking for Charlie right now," you say. "Do you know where she is?"
"That so?" she says. "I was just about to go talk to her myself. She's down by the school."
"I don't...know what a school is, actually," you admit.
"Well, no wonder you're so skinny, then." She finishes grooming and stands up. "School's the best place to go on a day like this. The kids love feeding cats."
"And by kids, you mean..."
"Human kids. Children."
You shudder. "I thought so."
"What're you so squeamish for?" She squints. "I'll bet you'd be twice as fat as Charlie if you went down there."
"I just...have a rule against them, is all." You glance around awkwardly. "So, uh, do you mind showing me where the school is?"
The tortoiseshell thinks for a moment, then nods. "Alright. But don't you try anything. I told you where the food is, don't steal mine."
"Wouldn't dream of it." You follow her down the road.
The next few minutes are silent and a little awkward. You get caught up in thinking again, and the molly doesn't seem interested in further conversation. It's a ten-minute walk filled with lefts and rights, and shortcuts into alleys. Finally, you arrive at a fences area with a bunch of dormant cars.
"There's no children here," you say.
"They're all in session right now." The molly motions with her tail. "C'mon, Charlie hangs out over there."
You follow her around a corner, where several wafts of greasy food strike your nose. Just as the molly predicted, a massive black and white form is dozing under a table.
"Oi, Charlie!"
The marred head lifts up. "Hey, Gidget. What're you doing with the kid?"
"We bumped into each other. He wanted to see you." Gidget nods to you. You step forward immediately.
"Hi, kiddo," Charlie says. She sits up just enough to rest on her stomach. "What's up?"
Uh...nothing.
I'm leaving soon.
What's up with you, first?
