I wrote a poem! What do you guys think? It's my first out of school and I just wrote what was in my head

The 4 seasons

The trees are young and so are you,
Oh innocent one
Every living thing joyfully breathes in your presence,
Oh sweet one
You serve and pray and hope for the best,
Oh faithful one
Not turning your back, you fight for loved ones,
Oh loyal one

But as the rain falls, my tears do
As I fall, you bring me back up
You bring me up from my ashes,
You pulled me out from despair
But what about you?

The leaves change colours,
Just as you change
But I was blind to the change
But change is good, right?
You took depression and
Made it your name
You took despair and
Put it in your head

But as the weather turns cold,
You do too
She left you
You were cold
You have told lies to
Bring branches down
You have killed to
Create fear
As the landscape becomes unfamiliar,
You do too,
Oh stranger

For you to stop
But you have the chance
To release your claws
You have the chance
To bud again

New Character!!
I'm so happy to introduce everyone to an new but very slowly developing character. Some things about her:
Name: Ash
Gender: Nonbinary 'Female'
Sexuality: Pansexual
Scars: She goes on missions for the military
Weapon: Daggers
Just a few simple things right now, but this got me so happy to write again!!

Currently... nothing. But I am thinking of an idea right now, while I'm also trying to do my math homework.
I will hopefully get onto writing the idea in bullet points and then posting here to see what you guys think about it. I just got her earlier today, so this will be fun!!

So I finally finished all the ref sheets for my dragon story ;u; Now to actually get started on writing it <3 Aaaa, I'm so excited!!

I might be interested, but I probably won't join. I've found that my characters' personalities change depending on the setting. Outside of my story, I have too much free reign.

And prep for NaNo is killing me. How do you a synopsis? I have no idea. I haven't even added my story to the site because of that problem.

Also, I've found that listening to Lindsey Stirling helps me concentrate when writing. Music with words is apparently too distracting. Has anyone else had that problem?

I don't think I have a problem, but yes I totally agree! Lindsey Stirling has been a /huge/ inspiration <3

Y'know, whenever I start a story, I have a perfect picture of how I want it to go. I sit down and words fly from my fingers, everything is great. . . . and then writers block gets in the way. AAARRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

on another note, does anybody have any tips for writing really upset characters /without/ making it sound cheesy?

It depends on what they're upset about, but usually all my characters are upset with each other at some point.

the quickest way to explain this would be that a parent of this character that they were extremely close to was killed a while back and she only just figured out /why/ they'd killed him because she managed to get her grubby little paws hands on one of his old journals and realized exactly what he'd been up to- *Inhales sharply*
I don't know if that's of any help, but she's //extremely// upset about the fact that he "Hadn't ever told her" and another friend just made a comment about him and only managed to upset her /more/
like my /other/ character is trying to calm her down and all the things they're saying sound like something out of a set up soap opera, and it's driving me n uts help

Maybe you could just write it, however cheesy it is, then leave it, clear your head for a bit, and edit it so it's not cheesy later? Idk. I hate upsetting my characters XD

I cant write. I stare at blank doccuments trying to convince myself that I can do something. I have no insparation for art either.

Guys, I've spent the past three days writing out the legends of my deities in my book only to realize that the story doesn't coincide with an already finished chapter so now I have to fix that chapter to align with the new lore and I'm gonna die.

So I have ten dragon characters, all of which are in the same storyline, and I needed some form of conflict or something for the plot. I eventually came up with the idea that a character of a different species would be taken in by the dragons and raised as one of them. I couldn't figure out for the life of me what the new character should be - I went from a different type of dragon to a griffin, back to my original idea, and it was honestly just messing me up.

Why am I telling you guys this? Because I just got an adorable idea for the new character while watching some cute videos on YouTube!

So my idea for the story is that a dragon goes into a campsite and finds an RV while the humans are out. He ventures inside it, messing around a bit before he finds a tiny, cute winged thing trapped in a cage. Figuring that it's another dragon being held against its will, the dragon panics and knocks the cage over in an attempt to free the little one. The tiny winged thing shrieks, but the cage is damaged enough so that it does not get hurt too badly, and it is able to hop out of the cage. The dragon, pleased with his successful attempt, gently picks up the strange little "dragon" and brings it back to his dragon pack, where they figure out that this isn't a dragon...

It's a young cockatiel.

So now I've got the perfect idea that the little birdie imprints on two of the dragons and he ends up sticking around and trying to hunt and be a good dragon. (He isn't very good at it, though.)

I'm working on reference sheets before I work on the story, but aaa! I'm so excited and happy that I've gotten through this dilemma cx

I think I may be the only person here that doesn't need help with character development(?) What's up with that? You guys can give me any situation and I can tell you what my chars would do. Aka: I have way too much time on my hands.
