Dang. Oh well, I guess we have to live with it even though that would be amazing.

Your conversation has made my day.

I love you guys xD

I SWEAR TO GOD I WILL FINISH TODAY!!! I GET SO FREAKING DISTRACTED Dx
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A flame from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king

In the Garden of Paradise,
beneath the Tree of Knowledge,
bloomed a rose bush.
Here, in the first rose,
a bird was born.
His flight was like the flashing of light,
his plumage was beauteous,
and his song ravishing.

Re: The Mothermaiden

Postby PhoenixReborn » Tue Apr 10, 2012 2:53 am

YAY!!! I finished!!!

Suddenly, the ponies started rearing, throwing their riders to the cold, hard ground. Thea wasted no time sprawling about, and was back on her feet quickly. The ground was layered in think fog that hadn't reached them on the ponies, and she grabbed around for Frodo. They could hardly see each other, and held tightly to the other's hand. Frodo found Sam, and Thea searched desperately for Pippin and Merry. Tears stung her eyes. She knew what this place was. She had heard the stories, and met women who's sons were foolish enough to think they could brave these deadly Downs. She may know that Pippin wasn't truly her brother, but she loved him with all the love and care a sister could have for her little brother, and she had been fiercely protective of him since he was very little. And Merry, well, he was like her brother too, when he wasn't attempting to win her heart, or reminding her of the arranged marriage that had been planned for them since they were children.
In her flustered search in the thick fog for her baby brother, Thea'd let go of Frodo's hand. Tears now streamed down her face, for she was sure she'd lost Pip forever, when she heard a faint cry on the wind.
"Help! Please, help!"
It was Merry. Thea froze, and silenced the two hobbits at her side.
"Help! Thea! Frodo! Help!"
Pippin! Thea was sure she knew which direction it came from, and desperately ran toward his voice. Frodo and Sam ran madly in pursuit, but in an instant, the young girl's mind changed and the voices, she was sure, were coming from her right. She was more tripping and stumbling than running now, and she was sniffing and sobbing so loud whatever cry of help her dear friends had made was drowned out by her own noise. Finally, she fell to her knees when she tripped on a loose stone, and she sat on the frozen earth, tears raining down her red cheeks.
Frodo knelt down and placed his hands on her shoulders, turning her face so that she was looking into his gentle, blue eyes.
"Thea," he said, calmly, wiping her tears away. "Be still. We'll find them. Can you manage a smile?"
She sniffed, and let the corners of her mouth raise slightly.
Frodo grinned, "Much better. Now," he took her hand. "Let's stand up, and listen."
Thea rose off the ground, still gripping her best friend's hand. "Thank you, Frodo." she said.
They stood and listened for only a moment, for Sam heard Pippin's cry, then Merry's. It was coming from behind them, and slowly they turned, and walked towards it, moving past the giant boulders that stuck up out of the ground, careful not to make a sound, for fear they would miss Merry and Pippin. Eventually the cries came from the left, and they went that way, and later right, and then back again. Finally, Sam heard them coming from strait ahead, but as he turned to walk, he gave a short cry. For there, in the fog, stood what Thea believed, for her whole life after, the very embodiment of evil.
Pale eyes peered out from a shriveled face that looked very much like a skull that lacked a jawbone. Wisps of long, dark hair were lifted in the cold wind, and a shrill, menacing voice gently called to them.
"Why do you fear, small ones?"
The Wight drew closer. Thea considered drawing her weapons, but no such thing would harm a creature such as this. A skeletal arm reached out with bony fingers, an image that forever haunted Thea, and the Wight stepped ever forward.
"I'm not going to harm you."
Sam stepped in front of Frodo, but was easily cast aside, and Frodo stepped up to protect Nenethiel, though she now worried for him.
"Back, you son of the Shadow!" he cried.
But the Wight kept walking ever forward, and their bodies were frozen and locked up with fear.
Thea drew Frodo closer to her, burried a kiss in his dark hair, and hadn't time to cry for help before the world went cold, and black.

The next time she opened her eyes, she lay side by side with her companions. She could not feel the warmth of life coming from their deathly pale bodies, and in the low, greenish light she realized that all five of them were dressed in ghostly white. Thea shook Frodo.
"Frodo! Wake up!" she whispered. But he did not stir.
Knowing that she was certainly not Tom Bombadil, she looked to the next best option after singing her way out of trouble. Bending low to Frodo's ear she whispered softly in Elvish.
"Mellon nin, Frodo. Nai ore le anath tolo hi. Tolo hi nin, Iorhael."
As soon as she spoke his Elvish name, Frodo sat up strait. Luckily he was one to gather his wits to him quickly after waking and did not shout with the alarm that was very clear in his blue eyes.
"What happened?" he whispered to her.
"Barrow Wights." was all Thea had to say for him to understand.
Frodo rummaged around in the gold near him till he found a pin, "Maybe we can wake the others with this?"
She nodded, "Yes, is there another?"
In reply he handed her one. They covered the mouths of their friends, then jabbed their arms. Frodo woke Sam, explaining what had happened and Thea woke the other two.
As the placed her hand over Pippin's mouth she recalled every scraped knee, every archery lesson gone wrong, every prank, scary story, smile, tear, all of it. No, she would never stop vein this young hobbit's elder sister. And she'd never want to. When he woke, she sent him to Frodo so he could explain to him what had happened.
Thea went on to Merry, laying her hand over his mouth she remembered about how bored she was when she learned that a marriage had been arranged between them. She wasn't excited like most girls, and though she was very close with Merry, she was closer with other people, Frodo in particular, and just wasn't ready yet for love. Thea remembered all the trouble he'd dragged Pip into, and how she loved setting him up for disaster when they planned an outing to Farmer Maggots fields, or to the orchards. She smiled, glad that she hadn't lost him forever like she thought she had, waking him up and informing him of their situation. They spent a little time talking over what to do; an eerie song had started and was likely the reason why the Wights didn't hear them. They'd just decided to use Tom Bombadil's song when Merry saw the arm. A bony, grasping arm was crawling up a little passage right toward them.
"Sing, Frodo!" the three now begged him, desperate to be rid of such evil. If only the priests of the Shire were there, the fear it'd have stricken in them would bring on early death. But sing Frodo did, no matter his fear, nor that of any of his companions.
The words put her in such a trance, she barely heard the answering verses. All she remembered was fresh air, getting back weapons, and getting a ride Bree.

Yay! Nice chapter, Cap'n. I'm definitely looking forward to the Bree chapter.

Theoden wrote:Where now are the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing?
Where is the helm and the hauberk, and the bright hair flowing?
Where is the harp on the harpstring, and the red fire glowing?
Where is the spring and the harvest and the tall corn growing?
They have passed like rain on the mountain, like a wind in the meadow;
The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow.
Who shall gather the smoke of the deadwood burning,
Or behold the flowing years from the Sea returning?
