"Scarlette!" -Me

I sped into a run, Khairul doing the same. From where I was, I couldn't fully see her, but her hat - seriously, she's been wearing it the whole time - and her pelt colours were unmistakable.

Skidding to a complete stop, I grinned at her.

"Scar!" -Me

She seemed to be in a daze, which quickly cleared as she looked at me.

"Uh, hey." *forced smile* -Scarlette

"You realise I can tell when smiles are faked, yeah?" -Me

"... Is it that obvious?" -Scarlette

"Kinda." -Me

"It was? I noticed nothing." -Khairul

"Oh. Well, never mind, then. You okay, Scarlette?" -Me

"Yes, I think. Just... slightly disoriented." -Scarlette

"Fascinating. Where is Zavier?" -Khairul

"I thought you would know." -Scarlette

"... Fantastic. We now have two optimistic fools on the team, the two people with any form of combat skill are gone, and my sister is missing in action." -Khairul

Scarlette grumbled to herself, but said nothing more, to my relief. Khairul sure wouldn't be the one conceding, and we'd probably be here all day arguing if they'd continued.

"So, Scar, I'm guessing the same thing happened with you as with Khairul. Hallucinations?" -Me

"Yes." -Scarlette

"Huh. So, me and Ari are the only ones who didn't get them. I feel like that speaks volumes about my mental stability." -Me

"Or we could skip ahead to the logical conclusion and assume it was an illusion, by Kris or Yveltal." -Khairul

I found it vaguely ironic that he, of all people, was sounding so condescending about this. He was the one who'd first referred to it as such.

"Possible. What d'ya think, Scar?" -Me

*shrug* "I don't think Arianna ever mentioned Yveltal having magical illusionary powers. He has shadow, I think, but there aren't many ways that can create illusions." -Scarlette

"So then that leaves Kris." -Me

"If I recall correctly, he has the ability to do quite literally anything as long as we are here. Does that not worry anyone else?" -Khairul

"Not at all." -Me

"... Very well. We should find the rest." -Khairul

Okay, Scar isn't exactly optimistic, as Khairul mentioned she was, but unlike Rose or Thalia, he doesn't pay attention to what others feel or think.

Zavier was barely conscious when we found him.

Well, technically, he was completely awake and conscious. He was lying on the ground, barely grasping a steel scythe, looking dead. And don't ask how someone can look dead - it's just a thing, okay?

He raised his head as we approached, apparently noticing us. I'm not exactly the most stealthy of dogs, and canines usually have pretty epic senses. Scarlette seemed the most alarmed, being his childhood friend and all.

"By the Six Spirits, Zavier... What happened?" -Scarlette

"Long story short, I got into a fight with Kris." -Zavier

"Elaborate." -Khairul

"Uh, I got into a fight with Kris and got injured." -Zavier

*facepaw* -Khairul

"Gahhh. I'm half-dead and bleeding over here; are the details really necessary?" -Zavier

"You're right. Z, you good to walk?" -Me

"I dunno. Probably." -Zavier

"If you have enough energy to be sarcastic, you have enough to walk." -Khairul

Ignoring Khairul, Zavier stood shakily, revealing that the ground had been stained red where he was lying. I was pretty damn worried about that, but I'd never studied all this medical stuff. It'd been pointless, as far as I was concerned, since I had never actually been in a situation where I needed it.

"Where's Fatin and Arianna?" -Zavier

"We have not a clue." -Khairul

"And I totally noticed how you avoided asking about Rose." -Me

*shrug* "She probably wouldn't care if we went missing." -Zavier

"That is no excuse not to be concerned about your comrade. Life is not a bed of roses; you can't just ignore everything you dislike." -Khairul

"Okay, that was Arianna-style preachy and irritatingly true advice. Was that pun on purpose, though?" -Zavier

"... What pun?" -Khairul

"You know, the... Uh, actually? Never mind." -Zavier

Khairul appeared hopelessly confused.

"Very well, then. You mentioned seeing Kris?" -Khairul

"Yeah. Not sure, though, where he is now." -Zavier

"Arianna might know. Probably does, in fact." -Scarlette

"And we have no idea where she is?" -Zavier

"I saw her a couple... hours, I think, ago." -Me

"You never mentioned that." -Khairul

"Really? I'm pretty sure I did." -Me

"You did not." -Khairul

"Huh. Okay then. Either way, if she's still at the same spot-" -Me

"Which is, in itself, doubtful." -Khairul

"-I can get you to her." -Me

Silence. Khairul was right - if it had been hours, she'd probably wandered off by now. Besides, given there were zero landmarks, it wasn't a guarantee I could find my way back. Scarlette and Zavier glanced at each other, him leaning on her shoulder for support, before the latter spoke.

"Well then, lead the way." -Zavier

Wow. There was a reason for Arianna doing the whole sparkly-dust thing when we first arrived.

(Okay, you might not remember that part, but I do. I wrote it in the twelfth entry, I think. Maybe thirteenth. I... have no idea.)

I was lost, at first - I'm not particularly bad at navigation, but here's the thing about it: to find your way around, you're gonna need landmarks, and preferably the sun too. There is no sun here. There's nothing, apart from us.

I did my best, though, with what I could. Which is to say, pretty badly. I was getting pretty miserable by the second hour (I checked Zavier's mobile), at which point, I saw it - her signature glittery substance. Against the expanse of black and white, the splash of colour stuck out like a sore thumb.

"Look!" -Me

"Sweet. D'ya think Arianna did that?" -Zavier

"Yeah. Come on!" -Me

I grinned, hurrying forward. She'd formed a trail, of sorts - each platform had a few flakes of the stuff scattered on it. We followed it with eager steps (save for Khairul, who plodded after us with an ever-present frown), basically just praying that I was right.

And it was.

It ended after what I estimated to be several metres, but I sure as ham wasn't about to give up. We continued in as straight a line as we could, splitting up when we met crossroads, and reuniting as soon as we met dead ends. Halfway through, Khairul took Z's phone and just began making tables to keep track of all the paths we'd explored - which certainly helped; it was a whole lot easier than trying to memorise every one of them.

Scarlette was the first one to spot Arianna - and believe me, she can shout a whole lot louder than you'd expect. Even from my spot far, far away from her, her voice was more than audible.

"Guys!" -Scarlette

For a brief moment, I wondered if something had somehow sprouted out of nowhere to attack her, but my fears were put to rest when I caught Arianna's significantly softer, and more feminine, voice floating over to us. Does she use some kind of voice-throwing magic? Because seriously, it should be impossible to shout that loudly without straining your voice.

"My greetings. Where were the six of you?" -Arianna

"Six? We only have four, including me. Rose and Fatin are still MiA." -Zavier

"Wait, what?" -Arianna

I scuttled towards her just in time to see her expression of surprise switch to her typical mask of calm.

@XxEchoTheCatXx
I'm afraid I probably won't be able to include her. I can try, though! If she doesn't show up here, I'll put her in the Planet's sequel. :)

"So you were just standing here the whole time?" -Zavier

"Not quite. I sent out a flare - didn't you see it?" -Arianna

"Nah." -Zavier

"It was twenty metres in width, obscenely bright, and made a sound louder than Thalia's shriek." -Arianna

"Try doing it again." -Khairul

Though Arianna gave him a skeptical look, she did as ordered. Lifting one paw, she raised it skywards. I took a step back as a spark-like thing shot out of it, accompanied by a crackling sound. By the Six Spirits, it was loud --- for what little time we could hear it, anyway. When it'd reached a couple metres in the air, it disappeared behind what appeared to be a veil of darkness, falling silent.

"... What was that?" -Me

"A soundproof illusion, it would seem." -Arianna

"How does that even work?" -Me

"Magic." -Arianna

There was silence, for a period, as Arianna just kinda... waved her paws about. She seemed to be trying to break the illusion; the rest of us sat there, waiting.

Without anything to distract me, though, fear was building up in me. Rose and Fatin were missing; we were in a random dark void in the middle of nowhere. How the ham was I not terrified before?

I leaped to my paws, beginning to walk-slash-jog on the spot. Khairul cocked his head at me, apparently confused, but I just shrugged in response.

Scarlette, at least, seemed to notice my anxiety, and guess its source. (That, or she was just getting bored. I'm not sure.)

"We should probably try to find Rose and Fatin. Arianna, do you...?" -Scarlette

"Hm? Yes... I just..." -Arianna

Blue-green flashed in front of her, then shot up like a firework. My gaze followed it as it exploded, similar to a firework, forming a strange arrow pointing in our direction. The whole thing somehow reminded me of a firework show.

"You sure it was a good idea to reveal our position like that?" -Zavier

"Quite so. I doubt Rose and Fatin aren't looking for us right now, and if Kris wanted to find us, he has magic. He has no reason to wait for me to mess up." -Arianna

"Worldhoppers have tracking magic?" -Scarlette

"He does; I don't. To summarise, he's older and about five times as powerful as me in general." -Arianna

Silence. Apparently, we're all a lot quieter without Fatin and Rose around.

"... Should you not be checking on the happenings back at school?" -Khairul

Zavier grinned, grabbing his phone.

The blurry image of Seafoam sharpened, revealing his strange position - balanced on two paws, one raised to the ceiling, and the other holding up the phone.

"Um. Dude. What are you doing?" -Zavier

"It's practically impossible to get a proper connection here. Cardi told me this would help." -Seafoam

"Uh, dude." -Zavier

"You already said that." -Seafoam

"... Well. Never mind then. How're you guys holding up?" -Zavier

"I... have no idea, actually. I'm a little hungry at the moment, but that's about it. Everyone else, how're you feeling?" -Seafoam

There was a chorus of muttered replies I could barely make out. Then the image on the screen switched to Elven's face.

She seemed, um, different. Skinnier, for one thing, with bags under her eyes. Her fur had become somewhat matted - the same went for Seafoam, I realised, but I was too concerned with his weird pose to notice.

"Seafoam's right, I think. That's not important - how are you?" -Elven

"How are we any more important than you are?" -Scarlette

"You're the ones who're there to defeat Kris. We're not." -Elven

I bit my lip, suddenly anxious again. They were putting their faith in us? Most people didn't even trust me not to accidentally kill their goldfish. It was kinda distressing, in a way, and comforting in others.

"What are you even eating in there?" -Arianna

"Cafeteria food, I think. Someone's been delivering it here for the past couple days - it tastes kinda crappy, but it's better than nothing." -Elven

"Ah. And you have no idea who it-" -Arianna

"C'mon, everyone! Why so solemn?" -Cardi

She suddenly just kinda... popped outta nowhere, a huge grin on her face. I spotted Ashly in the corner of the screen, seething with annoyance, and another dog - I think his name was Wild? - just looking done with everything. Not in Rose's "I want to kill everyone and everything" way, but more of Arianna's pleading "Please let me get out of here" way. Which she's been making a lot recently.

"In the history of all dumb things ever said, I think you may have broken a record." -Ashly

"C'mon, Ash! A little hope never hurt anyone, right?" -Cardi

"The universe is just being passive-aggressive to me now."

"I got a book on icebreakers! Apparently, prancing into rooms and talking normally-" -Cardi

"Didn't you once scare my ex-girlfriend when you-" -Elven

"Three years ago, Elven!" -Cardi

"Screw you all." -???

Hearing a voice from the darkness, I turned around. Rose, pelt stained with the brown of dried blood, face twisted into a spiteful scowl, was walking towards us, Fatin on her back. It kinda disturbed me how injured both were - the kitten was either asleep or unconscious, with just as much blood on her pelt.

"Like, no, seriously. May the Six Spirits forever condemn you, or some poetic crap. Can't really be bothered with that now." -Rose

"Are you okay?" -Khairul

"Take a wild guess, Sherlock. Take a wild freaking guess. Aren't you supposed to be the smart one?" -Rose

Arianna frowned, heading over to her, and murmured softly. Rose answered at (almost) the same volume. After a few moments, she lifted Fatin off Rose's back, leaving her to look at the phone, which Zavier was still holding.

"Uh-" -Elven

"Wait, so this whole time, you were gay?" -Rose

"Well, yes." -Elven

"You never looked gay." -Rose

"What does that even mean?" -Elven

*narrows eyes* "Are you sassing me?" -Rose

"I-" -Elven

"Congratulations. You are now an Outcast." -Rose

"But I-" -Elven

"That, or we have a fist fight." -Rose

There was a brief moment of silence, during which Elven edged out of the screen, and Frost took her place.

"Rose, don't you think-" -Silver

Before she could finish her question, the phone glowed blue. In an instant, it was wrenched out of Zavier's grip; he stared at it, then glanced at Arianna. Then, with a flick of a paw, she flung it off the platform.

"Uh, dude! That cost five months of pocket money!" -Zavier.

"And it can be retrieved. It's clear that, at the moment, that won't help us. For now, we need to focus on Fatin." -Arianna
Rose'll get back to her slightly milder jerkiness soon. She's just in one heck of a bad mood.

Thanks, Eevielution!

"Khairul, would you happen to know anything about feline biology?" -Arianna

"I am a feline." -Khairul

"I take that to be a yes, then? It would appear that Fatin somehow - and I'm not sure how, either - broke a bone. I can conjure a fix easily enough, but my experience lies in canines." -Arianna

And so the conversation continued. I won't bother writing it down here - it was kinda confusing. Even Khairul seemed hopelessly bewildered by some of the terms Arianna used, and she had to simplify a lot of her statements. After all, one party's an emo kid who apparently studied biology a bunch; the other's an interdimensional traveller who... um. Wait.

How old is Arianna?

I mean, she went to school with the rest of us, but that was probably just... a cover, I guess. She looks young, but she mentioned once that there's usually only one Worldhopper (or less) born per century, so she might just age slowly.

Then again, interdimensional travel. I... Yeah, never mind. This is hurting my brain.

Anyway, Rose spent most of the time grumbling to herself and glaring at her bloodstained clothing. This time, I can't really blame her. I mean, yeah, she's kind of being unreasonably angry at all of us, but she just lugged a cat around on her back for some time. Spirits know I'd be in a pretty bad mood.

Scarlette and Zavier apparently had a deck of cards, and in absence of a phone (I'm pretty sure she still had hers, actually), they were playing Solitaire together. Yes, together. They edited it to make a really cool multiplayer version.

I, meanwhile, was hovering around Khairul, Fatin and Arianna, hoping I could help somehow. Someone here was heavily harmed, and I sure wasn't gonna relax while that was still a thing. I didn't really get to do much, though, apart from supply a few jokes - and neither of them seemed to particularly appreciate that.

When Khairul started passive-aggressively insulting me, though, I took the hint and left. Arianna didn't really seem to mind either way - she was just slightly annoyed that I didn't seem to be taking it seriously. (I am.)

"Hey, Thalia." -Rose

??? "What?" -Me

She'd apparently snuck up behind me, and was glaring at me, brow furrowed, mouth twisted into a grimace.

"Why the hell are any of us still here?" -Rose

"Why do you ask?" -Me

"'Cause I wanna know the answer. Duh." -Rose

"That isn't a very good reason." -Me

She narrowed her eyes.

"You're dodging my question." -Rose

"And you're dodging mine." -Me

"Does that change anything?" -Rose

"Well, it does mean that this conversation's basically going nowhere, if that counts. You seem angry; try taking deep breaths. I hear that helps people calm down." -Me

She raised a fist, as if she was about to punch me, but then dropped it. Both of us stood opposite each other for a moment, staring at each other. Rose was literally shaking with rage, her fury barely suppressed. She actually looked kinda scary - scarier than usual, at least, which is a pretty impressive feat, considering her personality.

After a moment, though, she shut her eyes and did as I suggested. When she opened them again, she looked... well, not serene - I'm not sure she knows how to look serene - but a lot less furious than before.

"How observant. Someone's posture and demeanour clearly indicates that they want to kill something, and you manage to decipher that they seem angry." -Rose

"It's what I do. In response to your original question... what d'ya mean?" -Me

"I mean, why the he-" -Rose

Seeing that Fatin was just coming to, I quickly interrupted her curse.

"-een! Hen! No cursing, Rose." -Me

"Fine. Why the hen are we not giving up? Like, ten over ten chances are we all just end up dying anyway. Might as well just flee back to our homes and spend our last moments with our actual family, as opposed to the guys we know we all hate." -Rose

"... You never struck me as the type of girl who'd give up." -Me

"I'm not. Not usually. But there's a difference between perseverance and throwing ourselves into danger because of some overzealous sense of justice." -Rose

"And it's the latter we're going through right now. Or, um, the former. I... don't actually know what latter means. But, anywho! Never give up!" -Me

"Pep talk test - fail. You managed to tell me that we were being idiots in the same minute you told me to continue pursuing the path we're taking." -Rose

"Well, yeah. You're the speeches girl. I'm not." -Me

"Whatever." -Rose

"Hey, guys! Am I missing some kinda deep conversation here?" -Fatin

"Not really." -Me

"Glad you're alive." -Rose

Half-smiling, Rose knelt to give Fatin a rough nuzzle, just as a cloud of almost palpable darkness gathered above us.

Rose is legit usually extremely determined, almost to a fault - on the fine line between "dedication" and "obsession", she leans towards the latter. But here's the thing about thinking your comrades (in this case, Fatin) are dead:

1) You will probably not be particularly driven to continue pursuing the path that led to it. [Or you'll be twice as driven, especially if you're part of a superhero origin story. Honor their sacrifice and all that.]
2) I didn't actually plan this list out. Lemon.

Final confrontation should be coming soon - this story was legit supposed to be only 20 entries long. Next post should be delayed, though. I'm going for a school camp and won't have Internet.
