Chapter 6: To save a life
Leafpaw walked over to the patch of land where Leaf was. Luckily a patch of marigolds made their home there, giving her an excuse to go over there. Otterstar already disappeared from sight by the time she got there. “Leaf! What are you doing here? Don’t-----“ “Of course I know, Leafpaw, but it’s not only me here but all of us.” Leaf replied as all of the Fellowship of The Clans, minus Foxpaw, appeared, hidden in different places. “Foxpaw couldn’t sneak off, he and Darkstar are training. Me and Dawnpaw made it off because well, Rosetail’s not feeling well and Morningrose told us to go have fun chasing some rabbits.” Whitepaw explained. “Ever since we RougeClanners were force to leave the twolegplace with our leader to join MeadowClan, there has been plenty of food because all the extra warriors and everything.” Leaf added. “I’m supposed to get moss for the elders but I’ll do that on the way home.” Goldpaw mischievously grinned. “And me and Bluestorm were supposed to practice battle moves but he never showed up!” Sweetpaw frowned.”And why you guys are here?!?!” Leafpaw was about to explode. True, they may be part of a fellowship to protect the clans, but they were still on Leafpaw’s territory. “The deputies. Everyone trusts them the most besides the leader and medicine cat, right? Have you noticed all of the deputies have disappeared almost everyday? All of them disappear except MeadowClan’s newest deputy Waterfall but Darkstar continues to disappear regardless.” Goldpaw informed Leafpaw. “So, we need to keep our eyes on them, we believe that they are conspiring together and plan to kill the leaders (excluding Darkstar of course) and become the leaders of their clans and are evil, got it?” Whitepaw interjected. “Raventail went hunting along with Jane just as the sun rose up, but I wouldn’t doubt that they splint up to cover more distance. I very doubt though that Raventail is actually in this.” Leafpaw scented Otterstar returning to the area. “Quick! Everyone scatter.” She whispered as she grabbed a bunch of marigold before Otterstar appeared. The five other cats sprinted every which way. Otterstar was too panicked to notice the five other cat scents as he rushed towards Leafpaw. “Leafpaw! Mossflower was attacked by Foxheart and is badly hurt, we need you!” He urgently meowed.
Now, you must be wondering, ‘What happened to Foxheart, Halfsight and their apprentices? Well, they were actually a part of RougeClan (spies for them) and were now of the new StormClan alliance (RougeClan and MeadowClan). Foxheart never liked Mossflower and, with the approval of Lionstar and Fallenway, she decided to try to kill Mossflower and her kits. But before she could finish her off, Otterstar had appeared and she had to run off. None of the MeadowClanners felt safe around RougeClan (Excluding young Leaf(paw)) including Foxheart and Halfsight. Their apprentices, Lionpaw and Stormpaw seemed safe but not Foxheart and Halfsight. Foxpaw and Darkstar returned to the camp, the dark apprentice looking even more fierce and quiet. Ever since he was made Darkstar’s apprentice, he was the happy-go-lucky kit that he had been. His mother, Poppyrose, constantly fretted over him. “All Cats of StormClan who can fetch their prey, please come to the Meeting Hill for a meeting!” Darkstar yowled. Just then, Dawnpaw, Whitepaw and Leaf ran into the entrance, panting. “Where were you three?” Foxpaw suspiciously asked. “Darkstar making me, Dawnpaw and Whitepaw warriors today.” He proudly purred, not letting one of them try to answer the question. “Not that you two deserve it.” He sneered as he ran off to his mentor’s side. “Great. How in the world was Foxpaw chosen to be on the fellowship. He’s evil!” Whitepaw muttered as he and Dawnpaw made their way to the Meeting Hill. “Don’t say that! He’s my brother,” Dawnpaw hissed. “I’m glad he’s becoming a warrior because we can go more often to meetings of the Fellowship.” “I can understand why I’m going to be a warrior. But you two barely had been apprentices for a moon!” “Well, maybe we’re just special.” Dawnpaw spat back at Whitepaw. The white tom didn’t have time to reply though because Darkstar began the meeting. “Dear cats of StormClan, I’ve been told that three apprentices of ours are doing very good and I decided to promote them to warrior status. Whitepaw, Dawnpaw, Foxpaw, do you promise to defend with your life and obey your leader?” All three nodded. The three apprentices were shocked. He wasn’t doing it traditionally! “Then I name you Whitestorm, Dawnrunner and Foxpelt of StormClan.” Darkstar smiled at the three apprentices. But it was one of those creepy-evil-weird smiles. “WHITESTORM! DAWNPELT! FOXPELT!” Everyone cheered over and over. But Whitestorm was shocked. Was it accidental that he was named Whitestorm? The elders spoke of a white warrior, nephew of the great Bluestar, who was deputy of ThunderClan before Graystripe. Whitestorm wondered if he was actually related to the legendary warrior or perhaps Darkstar was randomly named him that. “Halfsight, Rosetail, Waterfall and Foxheart, please meet me in my den.” Darkstar announced as he leapt off the Meeting Hill. Foxpelt slowly watched his leader and four other cats enter his den. What did they plan to do?
Mossflower was already in the medicine cat den by the time Leafpaw and Otterstar made over there. Mossflower was badly injured and Leafpaw was so nervous. She felt totally unprepared to deal with this crisis. She grabbed great swabs of cobweb and marigold to help with the injuries. She knew from Moonfeather that poppy seeds were not recommended for nursing queens, but Jane was a warrior queen. She had the duties of both a queen and a warrior. Leafpaw decided it was worth it to risk giving her poppy seeds as she was groaning in pain. Leafpaw did all that she could do on her own but Jane had a fever. Leafpaw was so panicked that she couldn’t remember what to give to cats when they had fevers. “Fetch Tansyfur!” She ordered Otterstar who was standing in the medicine cat den, watching anxiously. “But she’s all the way in MeadowClan, I’ll have to go thorough ForestClan to----“ “Just get her!” Leafpaw interrupted. Tansyfur was the best medicine cat in the clans, if any cat to save a life, it was her.
“YOU MURDERED LIONSTAR’S KIT, DIDN”T YOU? HEALER? HUH? HUH?” Shrieked a dark tabby tom. “Fallenway, he was in the late stages of green cough. I tried my best to help him, but he died, it happens, I’m very sorry.” Tansyfur calmly meowed but her eyes glared fiercely and challengingly at the RogueClan deputy. All of the MeadowClan cats hated the RougeClans, besides Leaf, who was the nicest one of the bunch. “Your daughter, Leaf, is very talented in healing. I do not have an apprentice right now and I want to ask your permission if Leaf could become a medicine cat apprentice.” She added, trying to make peace with the deputy. But it only made it worse. The deputy laughed. “You think I would let my daughter become an apprentice of yours after you failing to heal little Frog? Darkstar has decided that you’re unfit to become ‘medicine cat’ as the likes of you call it. Get out of here before you’re ripped from limb-to-limb.” Fallenway spat.
Tansyfur flattened her ears. She couldn’t believe it. Some strange tom was making her leave her clan. What had happened to peace MeadowClan? But before she knew it, Fallenway started coming towards her and Tansyfur ran. She couldn’t fight Fallenway, he was hunk of a cat and besides, she wasn’t good at fighting. That was why she was a medicine cat. She was sprinting into ForestClan. Perhaps maybe there they would take her in. ForestClan was always good allies with MeadowClan. She just started to slow down when she ran into Otterstar, leader of LakeClan. “Otterstar!” She gasped. “What are you doing here?” “I could ask you the same thing,” Otterstar grunted. But then, his eyes flashed worriedly. “I came to get you, actually. Mossflower was almost murdered by that no good traitor, Foxheart!” Otterstar spat out Foxheart’s name. He hated her! “Why I came to ForestClan territory is another reason that would take too long to explain but I see my help is needed in LakeClan and I shall come with you, considering I have nowhere else to go.” Tansyfur meowed, racing ahead of Otterstar to LakeClan.
In shadows, Riverpaw watched the scene, his eyes glistening with such a fierce look. A newly received scar went over his right eye and his left ear was torn from the battle with Moonhunter. Fortanately for Moonhunter, he was able to escape to DarkClan’s borders. Riverpaw grinned. “Master would like know about this,” He murmured, as if he was in a trance. The brown tabby slowly padded towards MeadowClan border, where a black tom awaited under a tree, waiting for the brown tabby to come.
