(I also read through my scene challenge and decided I really did want to write something longer than 700 words)

4500 words is great! You can do it. And as someone else said, you don't have to make it to 50k. It's just a great way to get a headstart. I participated last year and didn't make the 50k mark (I only had about 30k by the time it ended.), but the novel I got started with last year got published this year! (It's actually free right now on Amazon...)So no matter how many words you get in this month--keep going!

It took me a year and six months to write and edit but having something published is something I think is one of my biggest accomplishments. I'm working on the sequel right now for nanowrimo.
