"Hey, I didn't want him to die either!" you say loudly. You stand up and face her completely. "I didn't know that was going to happen. If I did, I would have just left."

"Oh, really?" Jay snarls.

"I don't want anyone dying over me!" You force yourself to breathe and flatten your fur. "I'm not that important."

Charisma +1.

Jay is silent. Her friend steps away just enough to let her see you. She looks tired.

"Our crew fell apart," she says finally. Her voice is quiet. "He was the only thing keeping it together."

"I'm sorry," you reply. "I had no idea I was going to cause that much trouble."

The honesty in your voice seems to calm her down a little. She stands straight, sheathes her claws and looks behind you.

The red-brown tom flinches and cowers. You glance at him before saying, "Why were you going to kill this one?"

Jay's tail lashes. One of her friends says, "He was rooting through our digs for food."

"And then he had the bollocks to make a comment on Alfie." The other one narrows her eyes.

"I'm hungry, that's all!" the tom starts, but he whimpers and shrinks at the one-eyed glare of Jay.

You look from him to the other cats. You faintly recall a situation when you were little. A warrior on your neighbor's side had been killed in a border skirmish. Your Clan had paid for the loss of that warrior with a supply of food. You think that your mentor was the one who hunted the most of it, since he had been responsible.
