You head upriver, trotting along the shoreline with your feet partly in the water as the sun bakes the stones on the beach. You're not sure, exactly, where ForestClan's borders end - you would assume that they end around the same place as yours do, but you can't be sure.

However, your search is stopped by your own border. The river turns a corner, presumably into ForestClan territory, and you can't see anything. You're about to step over and check it out when you hear voices heading your way. You quickly step away from the border, getting a fox-length away right as the group appear from the grove.

"And then that stupid bird grabbed my fish and flew off!" The light ginger tom shakes his head. "Before I even had a chance to go after it. I could swear it was laughing at me."

Jayface snickers behind him, and Batstream shakes her head with a smile.

"You shouldn't be leaving your prey out by itself on the beach, Thriftwhisker," replies Beefur primly. "It's your own fault that happened."

"Oh, sorry I didn't realize that out of all of the days of the season, a crane would just randomly..." Thriftwhisker pauses, noticing you. "Oh, hey. Apprentice, whose name I forget."

"Rookpaw," you say.

"Rookpaw, right." The tom grins, as if he's trying to be charming. "What're you doing here?"

"Whatever it is, you shouldn't be out here by yourself," Beefur says, frowning. "There's been an accident up here. Apprentices need to be with other cats around the river."

"Take it easy, tail-chaser." Thriftwhisker stretches. "She's fine."

"You ought to go back and find your mentor," Beefur continues. "I've no doubt she's looking for you."

You don't get a chance to respond, because, as if on cue, Applefoot's voice can be faintly heard calling your name. You sigh, and head towards the sound of her voice, half-annoyed that your investigation came to an end like that.

"There you are." Applefoot's waiting by the training arena, even though there's nobody there. "Where did you go? I thought you were just hunting."

I just went too far.
I got distracted.
I wanted to fish over there.
I heard some cats at the border.

"I got distracted." It's not that much of a lie, anyway, Rookpaw told herself.

Rookpaw was curious about the cats she heard at the border!

'I was curious what the others were doing here' Rookpaw muttered, pointing in Thriftwhisker's and the other's direction.

"I got distracted is all," you say, with a dismissive tail wave. "I didn't mean to end up on the other side of the territory, but I wandered off a little too far."

"I'll say." Applefoot stands up. "And you don't have anything to show for it, I assume."

"No," you say, suddenly feeling embarrassed. "I don't. Sorry."

"Whatever," she says. "It doesn't matter. We have better things to do right now, anyway."

"Like what?"

"Like going back to camp." She rolls her eyes. "Eveningtail wants to talk to you."

Uh oh.

You two trot on home, a weight in your belly. The herbs must not have been enough to hide your scent last night, then. Hopefully that isn't what she wants to talk to you about, but you can't help feeling nervous anyway.

You hear some cats yelling at each other as you near camp, and when you walk through the door you can clearly hear Cinderpaw slinging curses at Rowanpaw. Fogpaw and Knotpaw are doing their best to separate them, and a few warriors are about to step in as the argument gets more and more heated. You turn towards the fight to listen in.

"What I do isn't your business," Cinderpaw is growling. "Stick your nose in some other place, where it actually belongs."

"It is my business when you start bullying the elders," Rowanpaw snaps back. "Unless you just want to be useless in every respect, you should try being tolerant for once!"

"You've got better things to do than duke with her, Rowanpaw," says Fogpaw, trying to push the shorter but stronger tom back. "Come on, this isn't the time for hot blood."

"This is the perfect time for it!" Rowanpaw glares at his friend. "Why are you trying to placate her? No one wants her here anyways-"

Cinderpaw pushes past Knotpaw and lunges for the ginger. In an instant, the two are fighting wildly, making the other apprentices jump back automatically. There's some warriors shouting to break them up.

You can see Rowanpaw is being tossed around, but he's gripping tightly right onto her skull and neck. Cinderpaw is shaking her head and trying to push him off, even slamming herself into the ground to get him to release his grip. The way he's situated, she has perfect room to cut his belly open as she's standing.

Pull Rowanpaw off.
Push Cinderpaw down.
Stay out of it.
