To me music is always a great inspiration.
Not sure how familiar you are with it, but there is a genre called "Trailer Music", it's often called "Epic Music" too.
If you just search on youtube for "Epic Mix" for example you will find lists of playlists and mixes (often over several hours) filled with really great music. It's always freaking awesome and helps me a lot to get in mood to write something fantasy-like.
Other than that: Nature.
Go out, take a walk. In the forest. Or make a small trip (like take a train and get to a place you can reach in one hour) and walk around there. Sit down in a cafe and just watch the people. What I do like (since I'm sitting a lot in trains) is to think of what the people I see there do, what they work as, about their families - this can me a source of inspiration too.
Reading a book and/or watch a movie may help too^^
(woah, there's a mod in my thread i feel special :O *gets out the good plates*)
I agree with nan, music has always been incredibly helpful aspect of inspiration to me
whenever I was suffering with writer's block. I often find myself scrolling through youtube
trying to find songs that match what I'm writing. my writing tends to have a very depressing
but inspiring aspect to it, so I often find myself listening to songs like this this etc. there
are plenty more but some of the videos are more explicit/mature than I feel obligated to
share on cs e3e
like I said, if you're writing a more sad part of your book, I wouldn't listen to incredibly upbeat
or joyous music, because I find it messes up my train of thought, if that makes any sense at
all cx
Thanks for the advice. I often use music to inspire me, and listened to some songs that have inspired me in the past last night. Still didn't work, but I'll be sure to try out the trailer music and see what that does for me.
The nature tip seems really interesting. Mom isn't in the mood to go walking on the beach today, sadly, as it is 86 degrees out there. Might be able to convince her to do it later in the day. I could go take a walk down to the park all by myself, that's the closest bit of nature we have around here. Makes me miss the house we used to live in that was in the middle of nowhere. The park is beautiful, though, might make a trip down there after it's cooled down a bit and I'm done with my chores, LOL. Ooh, people watching, I love doing that. Though I don't do it often, as I don't want to look like a creeper, LOL.
Yeah, I've contemplated reading a book or watching a movie. It just makes it a little harder for me, because if I do get inspired by the material, then I have to spend most of the inspiration period making sure I'm not being a total copycat, LOL.
Thanks for the advice, too, echo. I, personally, find it easy to write ad scenes with upbeat music and vice-versa. Though, I guess that depends on your definition of upbeat. While I'm not in the mood to write a sad scene, I'll keep your suggestion in mind.

One word.
Act.
What do you mean by that? Sorry, I'm a complete derp and have no idea what that's supposed to mean.
