I'll just stay hidden here, Rookpaw thought fearfully; despite the potential danger she could be in, she wanted to hear more. Running home might be more dangerous if she was spotted, anyhow.

You can't risk it. You carefully back up as quietly as possible a fox-length away before turning around and bolting for home. You don't even know if they're following you or not, but the terror of being caught is enough to make you run faster than you though you could.

Speed Skill +1.

You barely manage to slow yourself down to keep from skidding into camp, and pause just outside to catch your breath and calm down. You swivel your ears around, but there's no sound of someone following you, which relaxes you immensely. But, just in case, you only stay there for a brief moment before heading in.

The adrenalin has faded significantly as you flop into your nest and curl up as tight as you can, like you're still trying to hide from the two cats at the river. You feel exhausted, and still a little scared.

Apparently your arrival woke up Rowanpaw. He mumbles something, too tired to even open his eyes. You just sit perfectly still until he falls back asleep. It takes a while, but you manage to fall asleep yourself.

You dream of water and lavender, and an eye that fixates on you for what feels like forever, paralyzing you and keeping you from running away, no matter how much you want to.

The next morning, you feel groggy and unhappy. Your mother notices that something's wrong, but you say nothing, and she doesn't push it. Instead, she just brings you a mouse and grooms a messy patch of fur on your head (little embarrassing, but you don't complain - it makes you feel a bit better).

"You smell a little funny, dear," she says, stepping back. "Were you out doing something yesterday?"

Deny.
Tell the truth.
Joke it off.
