"I'm sorry that I pushed it," you say, a little quieter than you should. "Whatever the deal is, it's between you two. I just don't want you to have to be pushed around like that without any real reason."

Knotpaw turns her head, but doesn't look completely back to you. There's a long moment of silence, and for a minute you worry that she didn't hear you or that you made her uncomfortable again.

Finally, she says, "Thanks, Rookpaw," and begins walking again.

You're quiet until you get home.

The two of you bring the herbs to Divercloud, who starts to say something, but you're quick and pretend to be called away. As you walk towards the warrior's den to look for Applefoot, you overhear Knotpaw telling Cinderpaw that she's got to go on a border patrol and trotting away after the group that's leaving. Cinderpaw glares at her, then you, but you pretend not to notice.

Applefoot, as it turns out, is in the elder's den, poking around in the nesting.

"I'm telling you, I felt something. I think Cinderpaw did something to it." Half-face looks highly annoyed.

"Or you're just too sensitive," retorts Applefoot. She paws through the moss. "I can't find anything."

"She's put thorns in my nest before, the little muckhead," Half-face growls.

"Watch your language," murmurs Rabbitnose. He's curled up in his nest, having noticed you first. "We have little ears about."

Everyone promptly looks over at you (Stoatstream blinks stupidly and looks in the wrong direction). You feel a little awkward just standing in the doorway quietly.
