Chapter thirteen.
Birchpaw bounded up to Tinypaw as he and Willowfur padded up to Birchpaw, Littlefoot and Stumpfoot.
"Hey! Tinypaw!" Birchpaw cried. She had meet the Tom at the last trip to the moon pool, half a moon ago. This was her second trip to the moon pool, and she was exsited to see Tinypaw.
"Hi, Birchpaw," Tinypaw greeted.
"Where's Smallbird?" Littlefoot asked the other cats.
"She's be here soon," Stumpfoot said, "she does have the longest distance to travel. The five cats wated for a few minutes, but the Riverclan medicine cat didn't show up. Just as they were about to keep going, Smallbird came running up.
"Sorry I'm late," she panted. "One of our apprentices sprained his paw, I had to help him." Littlefoot snorted.
"Well, let's go," he said, and they set off.
Soon the came to the moon pool, and sat down near it. Birchpaw lapped up the water, and closed her eyes. Soon she was asleep.
Birchpaw opened her eyes, she was still beside the moon pool. She looked around, confused. The other cats where sleeping beside the pool.
"Birchpaw," a voice called. She spun around and saw three cats. Her father, Otterfoot, her sister, Lightkit and a cat she didn't recognise.
"Otterfoot!" she cried, running to him. He smiled at her.
"It's good to see you again, Birchpaw," he said. "Now, I want you to meet Yellowfang. She was the medicine cat of Thunderclan many moons ago." Birchpaw smiled at Yellowfang.
"Do you have a message for me?" she asked. Yellowfang nodded.
"
From four will come six, to midnight's demise. Weak will be strong, and small will be large," she said. Then she whispered, "close your eyes," when she opened them again, she saw a lump of amber, lying in the shade of a birch tree. Then she was back with the other cats. They were waking up and looking confused.
"I saw my father, and mother, and a cat called Littlecloud," Willowfur said. The others nodded. Each had seen two dead members of their family, and an ancient medicine cat of their clan.
"Barkface said,
from four will come six, to midnight demise. Weak will be strong, and small will be large," Stumpfoot said. The others nodded again.
"So did Littlecloud!" Willowfur said, and Tinypaw nodded.
"Mudfur said the same!" Smallbird said.
"So did Yellowfang!" Birchpaw said. Littlefoot frowned.
"All I saw was my father. He said that one that I love will leave me." There were murmurs and mutters form the other cats.
"Well, maybe we should go home and think about it. This is obviously a prophesy," Willowfur said, and she and Tinypaw walked away. Birchpaw ran after Tinypaw.
"Did you see anything else? Yellowfang showed me some amber in the shade of a birch tree," she said. Tinypaw frowned.
"There was a stone," he said. "That was all." Then he ran after Willowfur.
"Birchpaw! Let's go!" he said. Birchpaw ran to him and they walked back to Thunderclan.
