Maybe you can have them trap the aliens somehow...and convince them to help them, and to convince them that they're not bad?

I'm sorry...I'm not the best at giving advice. All I can say is give it time...an idea is bound to hit you sooner or later. I have an idea. Have you ever heard of a website called Fanfiction.net? Maybe you can ready some other fan fics, to draw ideas out of there.
