Hey there! (: Welcome!

So I'm curious, I listen to a lot of music while writing, but I want to put together a new playlist. What artists/songs do any of you listen to/feel inspired by that would be good to write to?

im currently starting a new book, lost and found, and i enjoy writing it.
its something i havent really wrote about before, so it might be a bit more difficult for me, but ye!

        here's the prologue;
It's 2006, and little six year old Aerwyna is on a cruise with her mother, father, and older brother. It's a pretty enjoyable cruise, and it'd been only two days in that Aerwyna decided it was the best cruise she'd ever been on. Even though it was her first, and very last cruise.

Everything goes tumbling down when the ship starts to sway, faster than usual. The room she's staying in with her family starts to be shaken; things start falling off the desks, the lights flickering. The commutation system beeps off, and a frantic voice informs everyone that the ship was sinking. Nobody said why, though.

Aerwyna is rushed out of her room, her mother and father pushing her along. Her father follows close behind, along with other panicking crowds. But it's too late. The extra boats are taken, leaving many others behind on the sinking ship. Her mother and father start to lose it, but Aerwyna is focused on something else. A delicate, yet soft voice was singing to her. She ran towards the railing, peering over the edge, in search of the voice's owner. But it seems as if she's the only one that can hear the voice. People were screaming, running, and yelling behind her.

"Jump, Aerwyna. Friend of the sea, jump," the voice called out, soothing her, trying to persude her to jump over. The voice ringed throughout Aerwyna's head, and she became mesmerized by the voice. She climbed over the railing, her eyes looking down at the water.

"Aerwyna, no! Don't!" Her brother, Ryan, called out behind her. But he was too late.

"I'll protect you," the voice called out, "Jump." Aerwyna was falling; she had jumped. She was too late to process what was happening when she hit the water. A pair of hands grabbed her, Aerwyna passing out.

No specific artists, per say, but I do listen to Thousand Foot Krutch and Lindsey Stirling radio on Pandora a lot. More than the other radios on there. There's something about a mix of hard rock and instrumentals that gets my writing flowing.

I've also found that bands like Falling Up or Starset are good to listen to if I need something to help me think. Especially Falling Up, the lyrics are so poetic that I instantly begin to daydream. And when I daydream, I think of new plots and ideas for my stories.

But as tumble, said, everybody's taste in music is different. This is just what helps me. :)

Also, I think I'm finally back up to writing. It's slow to start it back up, and I'm also focusing on another novel, thankfully though it's not a new one. I really need to finish a novel at one point. My first novel doesn't count, its word count actually makes it a novella. It's also really old and will probably need a re-write if I ever want to publish it, LOL.

By the way, I have a question for ya'll.

And answering my own question, because why not.
What inspired you to start writing? Or were you "born" a writer?
I'd have to say that I was born a writer. Even before I knew how to spell or write, I made entire stories with my toys. Good stories too. Though the longer I played with them, the more I began to run out of ideas, the more it kinda fizzled out. But if I could remember some of the plots and scenarios from my childhood toys, I would make them into instant novels.
Which is what I am doing, at least in terms of characters and as much backstory as I can remember, with this current novel. I've spoken of it before, but it's based around the characters that I made from my dinosaur toys. Which brings me to another question.

Do you find it easier to write stories around existing characters? Or is it easier just to make new ones?

I find existing characters are easier to write with because their personality is already there. So there is no need for me to make yet another character. Though I hate recycling character personalities or appearances, especially when it comes to working on two pieces that I plan on publishing.

New ones for me are always easier.
Of course, then I have to create new backgrounds and history for each character, but, for some reason I like doing that better than using 1 character 10 times (:

Most of the time I end of creating a character out of thin air wanting it to be a CS character and the history I make for it interests me enough to start a story for them. I think that has happened with three character that I have made? I am thinking a fourth one is about to start up, or be tossed into one of my already existing stories.

What inspired you to start writing? Or were you "born" a writer?
Its actually funny, I will find old notebooks where I have written old 'stories' that is if you could call them that. They are mostly just a page long or so(These are normally small notebooks.) I dont think I have even been a born writer as my writing sucks because I struggle with english, even though it's my native language.

muisc used while writing
I tend to listen to music scores. Because you can get so many different types that it gives me a few emotions and thoughts well writing..

I just started having ideas and writing them down

Bits of both, I learn a lot about my characters every time I write about them. But the challenge of creating new ones always gives me insight on how to make them better
