Roll says... 2: Learn moves.
You decide that it's best to start with learning some attacks first. After all, how are you supposed to artfully dodge attacks like a cool cat if you don't know the first thing about the attacks themselves?
You request the basics from Applefoot, and she gives a noncommittal "sure". She may not be overly excited, but you certainly are!
The two of you spend a while practicing the swings, swats and swipes, before she gives you the opportunity to try them on her. You're enthusiastic and confident until you realize that you're practicing with the fastest cat in the Clan, and so none of your attacks hit her as she dances in circles around you. However, this actually helps you quite a bit, and you're soon catching on and avoiding putting all your power into a move unless you're certain it'll make its mark, and you actually get a few good hits in before you're in need of a break.
Fighting Skill +1.
As you go over and sit in the shade, Knotpaw comes and joins you after asking Crowcloud, and the two of you watch Rowanpaw get his tail handed to him the second he slips up in the practice fight, followed by Hailfang offering stern critiques and a snide remark from Applefoot. The ginger tom gets frustrated enough that he shouts "Then you fight him!" and stalks over to you two, muttering colorful phrases. The adults seem indifferent, and turn to chatting with each other.
"You were doing pretty good, actually," says Knotpaw, in an attempt to placate him. "He's just...way more experienced."
He growls in response, and sits down next to you in a huff. He's more angry than he should be, really. You're not sure what to say.
