Roll says... 6: Brush it off.
"Well, I just went up to the river where the fish was, asked it very nicely if I could eat it, and it jumped right out of the water and let me take it home," you say, with a very lofty air.
Half-face laughs. "I didn't know fish were so polite. Or apprentices, for that matter."
"You did very well, regardless," says Rabbitnose, looking genuinely proud of you (which makes you feel a little guilty). "BrookClan will have a fine hunter in their ranks once you become a warrior."
Stoatstream looks like he has no idea what's going on, but none of you bother to fill him in. He's currently more interested in a passing bug.
"This is big enough to split between me and Stoatstream," Rabbitnose says. "But you'll need something, right, Half-face?"
"Just get me a mouse. I'm not that hungry today." She yawns, and blinks sleepily. "Frankly, I could use about a moon's worth of sleep more than food. Those kits have been noisy to no end for the past week."
"Have they eaten?" you ask.
"Dunno. You'll have to check it out yourself." Half-face gestures with her paw. "But bring me that mouse first."
You trot away, promising to be right back ("Who's there?!" Stoatstream squawks), and are heading past the medicine den. You're close enough that you can overhear someone talking.
"...just keep it to yourself. We'll talk about it later, but do not tell him, under any circumstances."
You pause, and Eveningtail steps out of the den. The tall deputy doesn't even notice you, but her long tail nearly hits you upside the head. You duck away and watch her go, puzzled. You glance into the medicine den, and see Divercloud facing the back of the mossy cave, hunched over and looking rather forlorn.
You decide to avoid talking to him right now, and instead just head for the prey pile and grab a mouse. After bringing it back to Half-face, you head back to the prey pile to grab a meal for yourself.
Oh...right. The nursery.
You sigh, and your stomach rather loudly reminds you of your own hunger. You do want to take care of them first, but it's getting really tempting to just eat.
You notice one of the apprentices, Rowanpaw, trotting back into camp. Perfect timing. He can take care of it (and, him being who he is, you don't think he'll refuse). Or, you can just handle it and then go eat (though you're really starting to get tired of waiting).
Ask Rowanpaw to feed the queens for you.
Feed the queens yourself.
