GoldenShiningSun's relationship with her parents, is not the best. She and her sister Danja, were born to them but only their father actually took care of them. Their mother did not care about them and left Mbwa Pride and their father once the two of them were born. Neither of them ever heard from their mother again. Their father took care of them along with the some of the older Nursers, but he still did not care for them very much. He did not love them, he just followed the Pride's rules. He was very strict towards the two of them, and was one of the highest ranking members in Mbwa Pride's society. This made him make sure nothing got in the way of him losing that ranking, including his own cubs. Danja and Halana (GoldenShiningSun's original name) grew up without much love in their life, except for their close bond with each other as sisters.

As Janyu started to take more control, their father became more and more distant from them and started to really follow Janyu and his minions. Their father started committing horrible acts and climber higher in Janyu's ranks. When Danja and Halana started their rebel group, he was ashamed of them and renounced them as his daughters. He and several others were ordered to kill them, so the sisters were forced into hiding. They have never known whether he would have killed them or not. Once Danja and Halana defeated Janyu, their father plead with them and swore "he hadn't realized what was happening." Danja decided to let him stay in the Pride, but he is one of the lowest members. After GoldenShiningSun left Danja as leader of the Pride, Danja and her father's relationship got slightly better, but GoldenShiningSun still hates him with a passion.
