“THIS IS JUST BUISNESS!” The man in the uniform stood with his gun pointed to the head of the young woman.

She was pretty, at least most people would consider her pretty. She had paler skin and dazzling blue eyes. They always held so much emotion, no matter how the woman felt. She could make those eyes burn into your soul if she wanted. Of course, she never wanted to. It would not be like her. She was gentle, kind, sweet. She had dark brown hair that cascaded down her face and waved neatly at her collar bone.

Behind her, cowering in between her legs, two children stood. A little girl, only 7, and a little boy, only 4. These were her children. Her most prized possessions. The little girl was almost an exact replica of her mother, with the same paler skin and flowing brown hair, but instead of the shining blue eyes her mother held, she had soft brown ones. A trait extremely dominant in her father. Her eyes replicated that of a baby doe. Large and innocent, having never seen hatred or pain. The boy took most of his father’s features. He had shaggy black hair, always brushing his eye lashes, and a pair of eyes similar to his older sisters, but instead of a doe quality, they created a much stronger presence. His eyes were determined and brave, more similar to a wolf defending his pack.

In this moment, the little girl’s eyes were filled with fear. With terror. She had never seen something so horrid and unlike the little boy, she was terrified. The mother, she stood with her arms held protectively in front of her two children and her eyes held in a frozen state of shock and grief and a fear that her daughters eyes shared. The little boy, however, held his face with strength. His eyes showed no signs of fear, and instead held aggression. They held protection. For this little boy, being only 4, had experienced terror. He had experienced an aggression that the mother and daughter couldn’t even begin to imagine. And yet, he stood there with strength in his eyes, and bravery in his heart.

The man that stood across from them, his expression was surprisingly close to the mothers. His deep brown eyes held panic and fear, but one that could not change his mind, for his mind was already made up. His long black locks were soaked in sweat, and yet still wiped across his eyes in tendrils. His stance was rooted, and there was no way he was moving, but his weight shifted uncomfortably from his front foot to his back. He held his arms outstretched, with a silver hand gun gripped tightly in his palms. His hands were sweaty, but he held the weapon so tightly, his knuckles were a ghostly shade of white.

“Please! Please…Michael! You don’t have to do this! Please!” The woman moved her hands away from her children and instead clamped them together in a beg.

“I do. I do have to do this.” The man spoke tightly, but his eyes were growing wild.

He was restless and his dark brown eyes kept darting nervously across the room. The gun shook in his sweat soaked palms, but he slowly took it off safety. The woman, getting more nervous, began to desperately beg. She pleaded. She prayed. But the man kept his stance steady.

Suddenly, the little boy, only 4, stepped out from behind his big sister, from behind his mother, and walked slowly but surely to stand in front of them. His steely eyes, which transferred so well from his father, stared down the man with the gun as if begging for an opportunity to rip him to shreds. How a boy could hold so much courage in such a tiny body, I’ll never know.

“Ari, go stand behind your mother.” The uniformed man attempted to speak calmly, but his voice was rising in hysteria. The young boy didn’t move a muscle.

“Ari! Go stand behind your mother!” The man tried again, this time his voice was stern. Scolding. Once again, the child failed to move.

“ARI GO STAND BEHIND YOUR MOTHER OR I WILL SHOOT YOU ALL!” The man screamed at the top of his lungs as a psychotic man began to emerge from the man in the uniform.

“No thank you Daddy.” The little boy’s voice was chilled and even though he was only 4, he made the room turn eerily silent.

The man with the gun, standing in his uniform, stood shell shocked for a moment, for the little boy had never spoken to his father before. Ever. The impact lasted only a second before a gunshot echoed through the walls of the building. It pounded the ears of everyone who stood and bounced back to blast through their heads. When the smoke from the gun cleared, one little boy with the courage of a lion, lay on the floor with a hole in his head.
