Welcome to the Third Issue of The CS Gazette. Published April 30th, 2012.

Time for some reviewing! This month is the Awesome month of April. What can we expect this month? Who made what, and how will it grow up? Find out in DD's corner, DD's views and expectations on this month's newborns!

Let's start with some dogs, shall we?

First of all - the blanket. I just love the background colour combinations of those four colours, which are usually so bright, now made softer - I simply adore pastels! The dark silhouettes of a lone wolf racing forwards in a slightly spooky-looking forest gives me excited shivers - I'm hoping to see this pup turn into a dog which somehow links back to it's wild descendants, the wolves, and if not, at least some interesting shadows. The head and shoulders of the pup gives me an old black 'n white feeling, like a good song - simple yet catchy! This litter of pups makes me feel extremely hopeful! Four outcomes is what I wish for.

Ooh! This little pup reminds me of tiny little grains of sand, all from different beaches, mixed into one blanket! There's the golden-yellow sand which is the first thing you think of when you say 'sand'. Then, there's paler sands, made out of more skeletal fossils. Look closely and you'll see a few bright orange flecks of sand, and a few darker splotches of ashy-sand. I'm all set to take this little one to the seaside with me! The front of this pup looks natural and very simple, which is surely a good thing. Reminds me of the dog I always dreamed for as a child! If the pup grows into what I hope it'll be - a natural, sandy doggy - then it'll definitely be a favorite!

Yes, I do! To me, This sweet little kitten is a perfect blend of pale lilac, lilac, purple and deep purple. For those who simply adore the colours mentioned just now, this is definitely the litter for you! I'm looking forward to 3-4 beautiful outcomes, each in their own shade of purple. The stripes look quite fetching, if you ask me! The colours seem to slide into one another. The edges of the stripes are sharp and clean - love it! ^^

Usually, the rats aren't liked by many {which I think is a waste 3:}, but I'm sure this one will be a favourite! It's lovely 'dappled' fur gives it a charming, simple look, which everyone'll go wild for! It reminds me a bit of a leopard xD I have high hopes for this charming little rat :3 I think there will be 3-4 simple yet collectable outcomes of this little ratty ^^ And I'm sure I, nor anyone else, will not be disappointed at all! *crosses paws* The natural colouring is sure to be a true crowd pleaser, as so many of us smoothians just adore the proper colours! :3

Aww, now this little butterfly wolf is my second favourite out of the whole lot! :'3 I just adore the pastelly rainbow background, with beautiful, swirly white markings on top of it. This smiley little cutie is sure to make your heart melt~ It reminds me of the song 'Somewhere over the Rainbow', and I think anyone who owns this butterfly wolf really will have a dream come true! All the tones seem to fade into each other perfectly. <3 It's like someone dipped this little BW into a real rainbow! I'm hoping for a couple lovely rainbow wolves :3

Unfortunately, I'm rather put off at first by the four large, olive-green insects which seem to be 'crawling' over this poor pony's coat. However, if I just ignore the creepy-crawlies, the mane and tail seem to go quite well together! I must admit, green is not one of my favourite colours, but I have hope for this little one. The green is quite bright, but not so bright that it hurts your eyes. I'm hoping that the outcomes of this pony will not have too many bugs on it. Apart from that, I reckon there will be 2-3 good outcomes. :3

Ahh, now this is some horse to look at! It's simple yet effective design gives out the feel of power, grace, magic and majesty. A blend between blue and lilac, this coat just looks beautiful. It reminds me of either the moon or the wide, open sea. It's white mane and tail adds to the suspense and awe - I cannot wait for this little jewel to grow into an adult! I'm hopeful for around four great outcomes, 3 if they're really amazing! Yes, I now feel like I'm face to face with an awesome, moonlit cave <3

A lot has occurred during the time span this month. First of all we had April's fools which gave many false hopes on the squiddy April Fool's prank. I, myself however thought it was very clever and wasn't hurt by the out come. After all it kept with the nature of the holiday. A few weeks later the Easter event began and we all started our egg hunts. Course; I feel not as many monthly pets were made but we gained about 54 pets; more or less with the Easter Event. That's quite a feat within its self and I think we got quite a bit this month. While I will not be going into detail on the event pets I will however begin my reviews with the grown dogs. ;3

Tyr did this litter of pups this month. At first because of the blankets I wasn't entirely sure what we were going to get in the end. Considering all the pups have not grown up yet; I find the litter to be absolutely beautiful. The markings are very clear cut, precise, and the black markings being very bold. I love the stripes and the masks on each one so far and I can't wait for the entire litter to grow.

Sorren produced this litter. I find their coats more grounded and natural in appearance. They remind me of a set of dogs produced in 09; A mix of Moonflghts's Cheese/Butter Popcorn and a more natural coated pattern. While they are not my favorite litter; they do have their own appeal.

Leurai made this litter of cats this month. I have to admit there are a lot of litters that are stripped or swirled. Throughout the litter there isn't that many differences from each of the outcomes. I do like the colors she choose and put them together very well. I do however really like the red eyes on the one cat; as they just pop.

Solloby did this months set of Butterfly Wolves. I really do like where she was going with the designs and they vary very well in color appeal. I, myself, can see the elements in each one but then again I might be playing too many video games. The first to me seems like the element of water, second being earth, third fire, and latest might be air. As a whole I really do love this set.

Leurai made this set of horses; yet I only have one outcome thus far. Considering the growing designs so far this month I don't believe they will vary a lot. I do like however the simple swirled design.

Yulynh made this amazing set of ponies this month. I didn't know what to originally think of the blanket at first till they started growing. I have to admit they took me by surprise. The first one from left to right would be the Potato 'Bug/Beetle', The second being the Ladybug,The third being a Fire'bug', and the last being either a Praying Mantis or Grasshopper of sorts. I'm not one for insects but its very creative I think to place the designs on the ponies.

Leurai did this set of rats this month. The pelt on the newborn looks rather natural yet the design its turned out so far looks something like the whale designed rats we had a while back. I do like how the stripes fade.

Now, this was the real treat I should say for this months pets. We got the squiddies back as a gift from Tess. She designed these little guys this month and its the first time we've had this species; (Besides The April Fool's joke.) I have to say they are rather adorable and I like the new addition to species we already acquire. I hope to see more of these as time goes on.

Over all I feel this month has given us Squiddies, and over all good designs to add to ones collection. I just hope that some will understand the good nature of April Fool's in the feature and be able to chuckle at the jokes rather than get upset at the holiday. Though this month has come and gone so fast; I'll be happy to see what the next month brings.

I was quite interested in these dogs, especially since the Parents are dogs that I have admired before. The Yellow Checkered dog has a very simple, but pretty pattern, while the other is more intricate, looking a lot like broken shards of a purple stained glass window. In all, the pair is very different in style and pattern, but they do both share very similar red eyes. It is quite hard for me to imagine a good mix between the two designs in any one pup, however the staff on CS does always seem to figure out the perfect balance between Second Gen Parents, so I do still have high expectations for this litter.

Grown, the dogs are not exactly what I expected. All their designs are just as intricate as their parents, but because of the combination of the parent markings, the 2nd gens look nice but a bit too filled up with markings.

The purple and yellow dog especially; it just seems like too many designs are being stuffed into one animal. However that doesn’t mean it’s not simultaneously mesmerizing, and I happen to like it very much. Although the eyes seem a little out of place, a bright red on black fur, with purple and yellow markings.

The white dog however, whose eyes where toned down to a light pink, seems less cluttered and more focused on a very pretty quilt-like pattern. The colors all blend nicely, very subdued, but in a mix that’s also eye catching.

The last dog reminds me a lot of Egypt, though perhaps that’s just me. Its silver and yellow markings have a very exotic feel, and it definitely makes you stop and take a moment to study its very unique coat. The silver marks seem to gleam, making it very nice to look at.

The dogs definitely have a lot of their parents, though I would have hoped to see some more of the shattered glass type pattern their one parent had, and perhaps a little more of a simplistic aim next time around. However, all in all, this was a very nice litter, and I am definitely proud to display my pet collection. ^-^

Niallator's Review

Cats on Chicken Smoothie have been here since the beginning. First, it started out with the Warrior Cats. Most cats represented a character in the book series "Warriors". In July 2012 they changed the line art. The first litter of cats were almost a Pastel litter, where as in the second litter, they were Calico Cats. My opinion in cats? Their fine, I like the interesting outcomes we get from them. I like the Birthday Cats we got this year, and especially the Green One. My most favorite cat I have ever gotten was the JayFeather Warrior cat or the Scourge Warrior cat. MY overall thoughts on the cats are that they are nice to have on Chicken Smoothie. The colorful outcomes will always make me want to have them here. I interviewed two people on the cat's.

Vampiric is an August 08 member. She is creator of the Bats, maker of many bunny designs and Items. She is mostly an Artist, but she also is a Moderator. She may seem "scary" at first because she is firm at clearing up unnecessary posts and behavior on the forums, but Vampy is very friendly and nice to talk to. Just see with this interview with her by The True Werewolf.

The True Werewolf: What specific website do you use to do the pets?

Vampiric: I don't use any website, I use a very old art program called Paintshop Pro 7. I don't recommend it, it's very old and can crash xD There are newer versions or other programs you can use.
The True Werewolf: What made you choose the designs that you did?

Vampiric: I don't know what specific pet you are referring to, most designs I make however are inspired by items, colour themes, or whatever springs to mind at the time. More often than not the time of year is my inspiration since I mainly create stuff for Easter, CS Birthday, Halloween and Christmas.
The True Werewolf:How do you send your finished pets back to CS?

Vampiric: They are submitted for other staff to feedback on and are put up in the chickensmoothie database where no mortal can enter. Behind a very large door. With guard zebras. And llamas. Wearing helmets.
The True Werewolf: Does Tess tell you what pet you are doing or do you choose yourself?

Vampiric: If Tess needs something of us, we will put forward what she asks for, but most of the time we do complete freelance on our stuff. However, Tess and Nick control and place up what will be released so it's not up to us.
The True Werewolf: How long does it take for a specific pet to grow and do you control what they grow into?

Vampiric: All the pets vary in their time to grow. I don't think there is a standard amount of time. And yes they have to be set to grow for when and what into otherwise they wouldn't grow at all, lol.
The True Werewolf: Do you help with creating the items for the pets?

Vampiric: That's the largest part of my job, yes. I make a lot of items.
The True Werewolf: What is your most favorite of the items?

Vampiric: Wigs I love making wigs!
The True Werewolf: Do artists and mods who create the pets get first dibs on them?

Vampiric: We adopt the pets and items just like everyone else. Being staff doesn't change that, so no.

The new store pets are here!

These pets are beautiful. The colors are mostly neutral with splashes of brighter colors. I absolutely love the style of the pets and the texture. They are all very well designed. I absolutely love the swirls on the pets.

My favorite has to be the tan, green, brown one with yellow swirls. Maybe it’s just because I absolutely love the color green. It seems like a very happy pet. I Think it looks like a cross bread between a cat and a dog. With the long tail and the pointed ears. Though all of them do really.

The grey with blue is certain an individual from the others. Mostly since all the other pets have swirls but this one has stripes and dots. I love the color blue on this one. It reminds me of a moon.

The black and grey with purple texture reminds me of the way an wave forms. It makes me laugh though since the black mark above its mouth reminds of a mustache. Even though now you’re going to look at it and realize I probably just ruined a part of its beauty pointing it out.

The brown and sea green with auburn is sort of like the gloomy one of the bunch. Unlike the others with a smile this one has a frown. Making it look very serious.

The best thing about these pet seems each pet has its own characteristics. Whether happy, gloomy, or mysterious. So no matter what you will have a pet that fits your style. This is great since chicken smoothie has so many different people who go on this site.

You can buy each pet at the store pets section of the Chicken Smoothie store. Each pet costs $20 chicken dollars. If you want to buy all 4 pets you can buy them at the special section of the Chicken Smoothie store. The bundle pet costs $60 chicken dollars. That is a lot better than having to pay $80 chicken dollars individually bought for all of them.

I loved Tentacles Day. It was amazing. Squiddy Smoothie provided quite some entertainment on April 1st. Definitely the talk of the day. My parents don't know what Chickensmoothie is, really, but now at least they've heard about Squiddy Smoothie.
I loved the layout, the Avatars, finding out who had which avatars and how many different ones there were was hilarious.
I still have Squiddy Smoothie as my background, I am a fan. I loved all the trolling and how my trade thread was suddenly called "Sweet Release's Fishssticks." And how I had an inbox filled with '(Randomusername) wants to squiddy exchange with you.'
Especially funny was the fact that annoying became 'so much fun!' HA People couldn't even complaaainnn lolol. And why should they? Bl
I also loved the squiddies, I didn't hoard luckily, cause I suspected on the 2nd of April they'd go back to normal. Also: Older pets in different colors! Yay I have a Moonswirl and a Sunjewel! Sure they're Red and Blue, but god ain't they pretty?

As some of you may or may not know, in March, CS celebrates it's birthday. And this year, 4th birthday, the surprise contained 3 presents and 1 baby kitten for us! All ready to adopt. We can clearly see the 4 theme on the cat, after all, it's CS's 4th birthday c: This is what the page looked like, with the presents C:

A dragon and a lion!
Even on these two pets we can see the clear '4' theme. I myself am a huge fan of lions and dragons (those who know me know this all too well xD), so I was really surprised to see them both in a box. Still not a big fan of green, but I'm glad that this lion ain't too bright green. The purple flowers in it's hair are a nice touch! As for the dragon. Well. Yellow C: I love yellow. And look, it's glowing! Yellow and Black seem to go well on this dragon.

Lastly, we got a few new items. What are these items, you ask? Stickers! And these ain't normal stickers. They are stickers of those all time favorites, the 08's! We got a Moonswirl sticker, Sunback, Sunjewel, Coon and BE's and more! Absolutely adorable! We also got 4 '4' stickers, in different colors C:

Thanks guys c: For me, CS's birtday has an extra meaning. I joined March 09, and celebrated CS birthday right away. Hitting my 3 year mark is a big thing! I love CS's 4th birthday this year, and I cannot wait for next year! And I hope you are thinking the same!

Ah Easter, such a wonderful time in the year. Our worldwide spring holiday. CS, as with each holiday, also paid attention to Easter. The CS Staff has treated us to a fantastic selection of pets and items. We of the CS Gazette have written a special Easter Review, covering the Pets and Items. This year we've gotten a great selection of bunnies, in pets as well as items. The Easter event started on April Fifth, for 2 weeks we got gifts including free gifts and token-bought pets or items. 200 banners to be found for each person, and many many new pets and items.

The Banner. The Banner is the key to events on CS. Every 20 minutes you could go hunt for the special Easter banner. And it would give you something. Either one of the 4 tokens or one of the 10 Animal Eggs.
The tokens consisted of four different eggs with a ribbon around them.

The Blue token seemed to be the rarest of the bunch and also the most popular. Different amounts of eggs bought bunnies, items and other easter gifts. Many trades were going around to trade for the needed tokens to get that last bunny you need. Everyone had their tactics, trade them, try to swap. Hang on to your eggs, sell art for eggs, have friends help you collect when you're asleep. There were many ways to come by eggs, so that everyone could buy the pets they liked, feed their hoards or stock up on trade fodder.

The Animal Eggs were first released in 2009 as banner items. Each year they've been coming back. They are representations of CS Pets that have been brought out in the past. This year again we've gotten some magnificent Pets. Pets that were popular outcomes. My personal favorite being the purple butterfly wolf. I have a hoard of 4 of these Butterfly wolves, and I love how the egg resembles the BW. Also a great outcome is the headphones dog. It was already a quite popular outcome and I was pleased to see it as animal egg. Overall a great selection was made to bring out in animal eggs. I myself am not a big fan of animal eggs and don't collect them, except for the ones of which I really like the pet versions. I do see what people like about them though. They are very cute, but with me it really depends on the choice of pet and coloring.

~Pets~
Easter is always is a holiday with great potential. It’s one of the only times of the year when bunnies are introduced to the site. This year, I think the artists have done a great job by incorporating designs from popular bunnies in the past and creating new designs that remind me of the spring.

Bunnies. That’s what most CSians are anticipating. In my opinion, I think that the CS community got a real treat this year. The artists have done a wonderful job, combining new with the old, making a spectacular selection of bunnies.

This year, the free bunnies were made by a handful of artists—Ricorn, Vampiric, and Sorren Fey. I’d like to give a round of applause for all the artists, but for Sorren Fey especially, as she colored many of the bunnies. The designs of the free bunnies ranged from natural colors, to a beautiful arrangement of pastels. The pastels represent springtime, when the flowers are in full bloom, while the more neutral colors could be homage to the species itself. Whatever the inspiration for the designs, the free bunnies turned out beautifully.

Next were the prize bunnies. This year, designs featured in the past were reintroduced. Designs included ponies, dogs, horses, butterfly wolves, and rats. Popular pets such as the Vixen and Timber advents, also debuted in bunny form. It’s always nice to see old designs make an appearance in a different form. In addition to having old pet designs released, bunnies that resemble old sheep costumes were released as well.

Other species that were featured in the Easter event include dogs, owls, rats, and butterfly wolves. Ricorn’s dogs truly resembled the spring time, decorated with flowers and pastel colors. The owls, which were made by Selcouth, reminded me of jeweled eggs and gold figurines. The rats, made by Solloby, were gems. Not only were they EPPS, but they looked like Easter eggs themselves. Leurai’s butterfly wolves, had eggs all over their wings, while the actual coloring resembled that of a rabbit.

Overall, Easter gave us a total of fifty-four new pets. I think that the essence of Easter and spring was present throughout the whole event. Once again, great job artists, and Happy Easter everyone!

~Items~
With spring in the air its no surprise that with the Easter event that we would find bunnies. Bunnies are often seen around in the spring time and thus I feel the reason that bunnies are often the appeal in Easter. This event I'll be reviewing the Token Easter items.

Over all I feel the set varies enough to make apparent differences while keeping a child like nature to them. They might as well be plushies for pups, dogs, lions, or horses being the nature of Chicken Smoothie. Waking up Easter morn and finding one of these by your basket would have been a sure treat; after all not all treats come in sugar confections. ;3
Overall the Easter event has brought us many new pets and items to make Easter a happy Easter for us all, we enjoyed it. We hope you did as well.

CalicoWolf: Why is this pet special to you?

I love the natural design, it's just so pretty. :3 It was the only one of it's kind when I adopted it, so I just dressed it up for those reasons, too.

CalicoWolf: What gave you the idea of this dress up?

I did it originally with one of the original squids, and I got that idea while watching my friend dress up hers, I saw the candy eyes and was inspired.

Arula Nischala: I'm not quite sure. He was bought from someone.

Arula Nischala: Yes, I do.

Arula Nischala: I relate to his colors. His colors remind me a bit of my hair. It's been every colors in his body, and even more. It makes me think of him as being erratic, but not crazy.

TheGreenHero: Myra is carefree, optimistic and perky most of the time. She's a little spacey sometimes, and she loves to daydream. She dislikes all people who are stupid, and can be a little judgmental at times although she tries not to be. She can come off as a bit outgoing and too friendly to some people, but she's kindhearted and sweet and tries to do good things. She tries to look for the good in all people and can't say she really hates anyone. This can be a flaw however, since she is too trusting and loving and is easily manipulated. She is naive and easygoing, and is able to see the good side of mostly anything.She's hardworking and very loyal, never abandoning her friends no matter what.
CalicoWolf: How did they come about and to represent you?

TheGreenHero: I guess Myra has come to represent how I'd like to appear to people. u_u I designed her about a year ago, possibly more, and I haven't changed her design at all since I created it. I've just sort of changed her personality a bit to fit me.
CalicoWolf: Anything else we need to know about your sona?

TheGreenHero: hm...nope not really. It's a huge honor for my Fursona to be chosen, so thank you for this.

CalicoWolf: How did the story come about?

aquamarine: My best friend committed suicide (if that's too much, you can simply say she died/passed away) on October 27, 2011. Her name was Quinn. On Easter, I typed out a letter to her written in story form. It's a real, true memory that actually happened 3 years ago. As a frequent poster/viewer of the CS pet pairs thread, I decided to share it with the thread.
CalicoWolf: Why did you pick those particular pets?

aquamarine: For one thing, it is an Easter-based story, so of course I used one of this year's Easter dogs. Aside from light blue being Quinn's favorite color, I thought the pastel quality of the Feb. 2009 dog matched perfectly with the Easter colors.

CalicoWolf: What inspired you to make the art in your shop?

Vampicorn: My art inspirations come from many things in the various parts of my life, but my main art influence is really from my friends on and off the internet. Inside jokes, and my ever-creative customers really help me create a basic idea for my art, because planning your art just makes it too clean and not so relaxed. Being spontaneous with my life means my art is also spontaneous, and I wouldn't have it any other way :3
CalicoWolf: Where the idea for plushies come about?

Vampicorn: I have always been a bit of a plush animal lover, their fluffiness just made me want to know how they work. Their fun anatomy, or actually lack there-of, really made them a great start for my shop. Once I made the first lineart it went great from there and I have created dozens of customs, and multiple linearts, though some linearts are currently retired and may be sold in the future to other aspiring artists
CalicoWolf: What inspired the Tub-a-Corn?

Vampicorn: The Tub-a-Corn was a an old character of mine, Fred. It came from an old inside joke with some old friends where I was nicknamed Fred the Unicorn. My friend, being a very tight hugger, caused me to respond to her hugs one day with this: "If you keep on hugging me so dang tight, I will explode and all my unicorn fluff will come out!" Of course by then my shop and plushies were becoming popular, and I couldn't help but make a unicorn filled with the fluff that might burst if you hug it :3
CalicoWolf: Anything new coming in the near future?

Vampicorn: -Most definately yes. Being an artist who loves what she does, and also my insanity makes me strive to come up with new ideas to spread my art around. You can hope to see more wolf art, some semi-realistic feline art, and even some avatars soon in the shop. I am also planning to make s few editable oekakis for anyone to use, so watch for those soon

Why you picked that pet and how the theme come about?

DisabledLlama made me!

Normally I'm not a huge fan of funky coloured pets but I must say that this litter stole my heart the moment I saw them. It actually took me a couple days to even realize that they were created by Disabled Llama, which didn't really effect my opinion on them at all despite our profound mutual love. The Peacock litter immediatly jumped into my head as well with this litter. I can't expect anything but good things to come from these pups, especially when it's known which artist is behind these magnificent pups.

This litter is already extremely entertaining although it took little to no time for myself and others to start to wonder if the science lab on the blanket might possibly have something to with Labradors. The high level of highlighting on this litter reminds me of something that appears 'squeaky clean'. Either way, it is very interesting and I can't wait to see how right many CSians are about their opinions.

Cat Corner!

Selcouth made me!

Selcouth surprises me time after time. I adore most of the designs Selcouth makes and I am really looking forward to seeing these babies grow. To me, they sorta look like lion babies, but if you look closely it has faded tiger stripes on it’s head. Therefore, I am thinking this is a big cat litter, or at least something with tigers/lions. Wow, I love that xD As you know, I adore lions. Grow, kitty, grow! Cannot wait to see.

New artist, new designs! The rat, as you all can see, is sorta purpleish, with a darker smudge over it. I’m kinda excited to see what they’ll turn out to be, hopefully something nice. Even though nobody really knows where Soulwings came from and why they got the guest artist position, I’d like to take a moment and welcome them to the team c: Hopefully, we all will like your first pets released!

Butterbabies!

This month, Tyr made the butterbabies. Look closely, you can see that this month’s butters carry a couple of clear colors. Blue, black and green. The stripes on it’s body are sorta odd, but I’m sure they’ll fit on the grown butterwolves. This is also a case of wait and see, I hope they grow soon!

There ain't much to say about this month’s spiders. These crawly creepers aren’t all that popular under most of the CS members, unless they have a great, great design or a couple of unique markings. Since this spider ‘egg’ is all white, there ain't much for me to say. I’d say, This baby will have to grow before I can properly give my opinion about it. So let’s look forward to seeing it grow and hopefully, it’ll be a great litter of spiders!

New month, new Egg. This little egg was made by Leurai and I have to say... I love the color combo. Yellow and red usually turns out great and wow, this red mus be my fav kind of red. What else can we see on this egg. Well, markings of course! It looks very tribal-y to me, and I am sorta excited to see what these little ones will grow up to be. As I mentioned before, I do adore tribal designs. Leurai usually surprises us with her markings so I have high hopes for these owls. Hopefully this will be one of those owl litters that I do like.

Pretty Ponies!

Horse-y, made by Leurai. Black with blue spots, the blue fades from darker to lighter blue. If you look closely, you can see that just above his hoof, there is also a fine line of blue. Blue eyes, and that means that blue is kinda the leading color in this design. It looks great on an all black horse, the blue really pops out. Because I count at least 4 different shades of blue, I am guessing we’ll get a couple outcomes!

DisabledLlama created this lovely litter. I have to say that I'm not sure on the over all designs but they seem to be a mix of flourish peacock and a sort of galaxy star type of mix. Despite the fact only one has grown into an adult thus far I still love the colors and designs.

Leurai made this peculiar litter this month. I have to say at first I had to sit back and look at the pup blanket and then I realized they most likely have to do with the Periodic Table as their blanket resembles a sort of chemistry set. I have to admit that I find that idea rather creative. I'm curious to see how the other designs of this set will be flushed out.

Selcouth created this months feline litter. I have to admit that out of all the designs this month that these over all are my favorite. Not to say that there wasn't any other great designs. I just absolutely love wild cat patterns. To mention a few I see here; Lynx, Golden Tabby (Tiger), Clouded Leopard, and of course the King Cheetah.

Tyr created this batch of butterfly wolves. I love the contrast of colors and the swirl like patterns. It took me a bit to realize that out of this batch there is also a windless outcome which seems to tell a story of its own. I love the simple nature of the dark windless design.

Leurai made this batch of horses this month. I love the different hues of blue speckles used. My only issue is there isn't much variety between them but I love the over all concept. In a way I feel its almost as if they are becoming a bit elemental in a way.

Ricorn did this set of Ponies this month. I have to say that despite the fact I can tell its the same design; it doesn't make the re-colorings any less beautiful. I like all the variations.

SoulWings our new guest artist made these special rats this month. I have to say I normally do not care to have rats in my collection or even if I have them in general. Though these designs are mind blowing. I say that in the most simplistic way I can. The designs match a set perfectly while varying. This to me is very important while keeping the uniqueness. Over all she did a wonderful job and I can't wait to see more of her designs.

Leurai created this months set of owls. I love the tribal feel they have to them. I'm not sure if it was intentional or not but I always love runic designs and usually while they are not based off anything particular; I'm always welcome to see them.

Last but not least; the spiders. This set was created by Leurai. I love the almost exotic look this set brings with them. For most part I would believe these existed somewhere in the world and yet I've never known anything to look like them. I like that they bring this to the table.

This month’s second gen pair is an interesting mix; one natural dog, the blue eyed Border Collie from 2011, and then a bejeweled type dog, the Purple Sparkle Husky from 2009. Both are relatively simple, but are fairly popular as well. I feel like they could definitely become a good pairing, and I’m excited for their outcomes.

~Blankets & Pups~
Each dog’s blanket displays a different sparkly design, in different colors and different patterns. They all seem quite pretty and eye catching there, but after hitting the next stage, the pup’s seems to differ from their blankets. The little glittery gems are not on all the dogs, and some of the ones that have it seem to have just the lightest sprinkling. They don’t seem to pop on the dogs as much as I expected.
However the gray pup with the purple sparkle seems to take after the mother quite nicely, the purple eyes and gems both resembling that of the parent.
I am a big fan of the butter yellow pup with the sparkle the same color as the father’s eyes.
The brown and gray dog with the white underbelly looks like it has been out in the snow, which is odd right before summer, but nice.
And the last dog seems a bit plain, butter yellow like its sibling, but with no sparkle decorating its fur. This intriguing bunch has piqued my interest, and I can’t wait to see the final stages!

~Full Grown~
Well, this certainly is a great gaggle of dogs! They all grew very nicely, and I can definitely see some hoards being started in their honor. The gray dog with the purple sparkle seems to have darkened in fur color, and brightened in glittery gem.
The other dog I took an instant liking too was the butter yellow pup with the turquoise gems. It too now has darkened fur, and has little speckles about it. The sparkle looks the same, still reminding me of the father’s eyes.
Darkening in color seems to be a theme, as the Snow-In-May dog has darker fur as well, though it still kept it’s sprinkling of snowy sparkle.
The unadorned pup also darkened in its final stage, becoming an orange color much like its mother, but definitely with its father’s markings. This seems to be the only dog taking after its father much, I’m sad to say.
Though the dogs where all brilliant, I wished there was a bit more of the father in a few of the dogs. However, I adored the perfect mix of parents in the simplest dog, and the use of the father’s eye color in the sparkle of the butter yellow dog. All in all, it was an amazing job by the artist, and I am happy with the outcomes.

For those who read my monthly collumn, you already know that I’m not a big fan of the butterfly wolf. I play CS mainly for the dogs, but since this review is about butterfly wolves, let’s get to the point. The butterfly wolf line-art was made by Tess and appeared first in '08. Because not many people liked them/favored the dogs, they weren’t adopted that much. Like warrior cats and Tess Horses, it was decided that the butterfly wolves would be adoptable over time, so you could keep adopting as many as you'd like for as long as you'd like. Not just for one month, like with the dogs which were monthly updated. CS was pretty simple back then. Get puppies, adopt as many of the rest as you wanted. But... This resulted in an ongoing lessening of value for the butterfly wolves. Likewise with Tess horses and warrior cats, if I may add. The butterfly wolves didn’t get much justice, they were used as cheap trade fodder and usually didn’t count in trades. Therefore, in 2009, it was decided that butterfly wolves would be a litter, just like dogs. Free adopts was taken down and mothly adopts started. Up until now, staff has given us surprising colorations, line-art edits and simply stunning butterfly wolves, each month.

I, a not so big fan of the butterwolf line-art, do have a few favorites. Let me point out what I like so much about the butterfly wolves.

1. Line art edits. As you can see on the right, staff has made us some great edits! To point out; bird-wings, dragonfly-wings and sometimes even no wings at all!

2. Great colorations. As you can see on the left, some butterfly wolves are just..stunning. I adore simple designs, but some of the butterfly wolves, though heavily colored in, just look plain amazing. I think the butterfly wolves are, next to dogs, one of those few species that can handle more than one kind of marking.

3. Event pets. Butterfly wolves are great to get during an event (see last pets on the left). Look at this third bw on the left. This Butterwolf is from Halloween, doesn’t it surprise you? Another example; last bw on the left, a dragon butterfly, given to us for chinese new year. Absolutely great!

4. PPS/EPPS. Sometimes, staff likes to surprise us with PPS’s or EPPS’s. (Also known as PeterPanSyndrome and ExtremePeterPanSyndrome.) We haven’t gotten many, but the two we do have are just... great. The PPS’s cocoon is so wanted that it even ended up on the rares list! It’s just a simple cocoon, but it’s smile is so adorable, how can you not like that? As for the EPPS, the thunder butterpet is just great. It’s so fluffy with it’s little thunderbolts shooting around. Great pet to have, great pet to hoard, I’m sure some of you can agree with me on that!

Well, I can go on and on and find more good points, but I’m sure you all catch my drift and can think of a few more things yourself! So, interested in what other members of CS think? I asked them, and this is what they told me;

Rhia.: Thanks for allowing the CS Gazette to interview you, Toadfoal! You've been here since the beginning of 2009, so you must have seen a lot, right? What do you think is your favourite event that has happened over the past 3 years?

TF: I'd have to say that my favorite event is the Medieval Fair. It's new, but I think it will be a lot of fun in coming years.

Rhia.: I have to say, that's probably my favourite too. Possibly only the Advent beats it, and that's because I love Christmas! Be prepared to have some pretty random questions fired at you now... What is currently on your iPod/MP3 player/radio?

TF: I don't have a whole lot on my iPod right now, but I think I have a lot of The Flaming Lips, Miike Snow, Peter Gabriel, and Harold Budd.

Rhia.: Ah, really? I'll have to look them up :3 If you could only watch one TV show for the rest of your life, which would it be and why?

TF: I know it's not very current, but I would have to say Monty Python's Flying Circus. It just never gets old!

Rhia.: Agree so much! I love it :3 Oooh, this next one's slightly thought provoking... In your whole life, what has been your best memory, why, and would you relive any of it again, or just leave it be?

TF: Ooh, that is a tough one. A lot of my favorite memories are little things, like family picnics and that sort of thing. But if I had to pick a more exciting memory, I guess it would be the time I went to Hawaii and we were there for New Years 2000. That was a fun trip! But I would leave it be, sometimes the way we remember things makes them seem even better than they actually were.

Rhia.: Aw, I love little kid memories... Just not the ones your parents bring up! What is your most searched or looked at web page on your computer?

TF: Can you guess?! Well, yes, it might be CS, haha! DA [DeviantArt] is up there too, but I think CS has it beat.

Rhia.: Which part of CS do you like the most? The people? The pets?

TF: Honestly, I like the people. There are so many nice users on the site, it's almost overwhelming. I can never seem to get over how generous people are, getting to help them out when they've got problems is always one of the highlights of my day.

Rhia.: Lastly, if you could meet one person from CS in real life, who would it be?

Kuramon: What inspired you to take up drawing and designing?

SoulWings: What inspired you to take up drawing and designing? I've been Drawing sense before i can remember, so about.. 23 years [that would make me 2 when i started] so it could have been anything, from the constant I need to watch my language of dogs and cats, to the cartoons who knows. designing things came later though, year sure i used to draw all the time but i would always draw something that was real or made by someone else. i think when i was about 8, i designed my own personal character as part of a creative challenge from another student in my school, i just never stopped after that. though i do still draw real animals and other peoples characters XD.
Kuramon: Where did the idea of your litter come from?

SoulWings: This first litter is actually based on an old concept of an old color mix that I just love and love to color things as, so I was happy when I found that they would be out. =]
Kuramon: Have you any real life pets, if so, introduce us?

Hello I am forestostrander formerly The True Werewolf from the CS Gazette. I have a few questions for DisabledLlama about her new litter. Please read ahead and enjoy!

forestostrander: What do you find interesting about CS?

DisabledLlama: The fact that it started out so small, with non-growing pets and no account system, and then grew to be as big as it is. I think Nick has done an excellent job of coding the site and making it what it is today. My mind just goes 'asjkdfhdka' whenever I think about the effort it must take to build and maintain a site as popular as CS.
forestostrander: Do you choose the max number of newborns and are you always pleased on what they grow up into?

forestostrander: What do you hope your newborns rarity will be and do you mind if they don't turn out as what you hope?

DisabledLlama: Well, I'll usually tell Tess what my favourite of a litter is, and then leave it at that. Sometimes she'll ask me if I want an outcome to be rarer than the rest of the litter, but overall I'm not too fussed on their rarity at the end of the month.
forestostrander: Do you love to draw?

DisabledLlama: Yes. But only when I'm in the mood, lol. There are times where I just don't have any motivation to pick up my tablet, and others where I'll get this great inspiration or idea... and then completely fail at putting it down cause my brain>paper ability is terrible.

For the last two issues I've been reviewing items that can be used on a wide variety of pets, food and scenery items. Now, I've decided to take a near one-eighty and review items designed specifically for one group, even one lineart of such a species, the western tack. This item set is still available for free in the store, as it will most likely stay. The tack is made to only fit the Yulynh lineart horses, which is a shame.

But we'll get to that aspect of this set later on.

I want to put a minor disclaimer in here before I start the set's break-down. I'm trained to ride horses English, not Western. My reasoning for pointing this out is the fact that I'll be pointing out my model (pictured to the right), quite a bit in this review. There are storm clouds gathering in my mind over the rightful assumption that I have that saddle on wrong-- try to ignore it. I'm an English rider, legitimate excuse.

Scenery Pieces
There are only two pieces of background/scenery items in this set: a dust cloud and a barrel, for barrel racing. I totally didn't just look up that simple event term. Both items focus on the classic idea of western riding-- dusty and the advantage is taken. The barrel is a splash of color on the light brown base placed under it.

My only complaint I have with it is the shading, I'm trying to find a common perspective for it compared to the horse it's supposed to fit to, and I'm coming up short on a common lighting point. Other than that, it's a nice item to add with this set, though uses outside of that are minimal at best.
The dust cloud on the

other hand, I really do like. It fits with the set it's designed to go with but other applications are easy. When I designed a dog for a 'Desert Traveler' theme this piece made a very nice touch. Unfortunately, the light brown blends in too much with light backgrounds such as the forum color on the Pale Green viewing skin-- which I use the vast majority of the time. This is one item definitely put to the best use on a dark pet or on a dark background. Yet I feel like the large amount of uses make up for this flaw just enough.

Halters
This is a quick aspect of this review. Very quick. They're basic halters and there really isn't much more that needs to be said. The multiple colors is nice, that we don't just get settled with black and white or simply a common brown-- but I kind of miss that with these. A few of the colors just seem too similar when I look at them, and it makes me miss a solid black halter.

The Tacking
Remember when I said I rode English? This is where it's really going to show I know next to nothing about Western riding. I

consulted good ol' Google images when checking how accurate these two pieces of tacking are. They seem to check out, even if my positioning of this on my poor display horse looks like it's choking the poor thing. This also brings up a key point I wish to make known. The way this item, the bridle, is designed makes it very easy for someone who's completely clueless (um, me) to figure out how to position the bridle correctly. The saddle? Not so much, the front strap and latch at the bottom are really the only points where lining up is capable, whilst the bridle had breaks in it to fit it perfectly. I also must point out that I like this coloring-- a lot. These pieces definitely have a western feel to them in that respect, unlike the colorful halters mentioned briefly above.

In conclusion to this self-insulting review, I really do like this set, especially for being free. Surprisingly, it is not one I see used very often when exploring the forums and dress-up threads. The dust cloud is definitely a highlight in my own eyes as the uses are vast and not centered and reserved only for these horses. All the rest of the items are, unfortunately made only for the current horse lineart. This is the major flaw for me, I have a few older horses that I would love to put this tack on-- specifically a bay from the previous lineart. Oh well, this set still gets a B+ from this review.

Now, I must not lollygag. I do believe my crumpets are done in the oven and my kettle of tea is whistling. Pip pip and cheerio and all that. Since, you know, I'm an English rider.

F a l l e n ♥: Well, I really don't have a story behind it. I can't exactly say nothing though, I guess I was just playing around with my new items and I came out with this. Or maybe it has something to do with how depressed I was, either way all of the bright colours and the colours on the pet inspired me to create this.
CalicoWolf: What is so special about this pet?

F a l l e n ♥: I would have to say that Lizzy is special to me because she was one of my first pets. It was just her colours and size that made me fall in love with her. I've cherished her since the day I got her. I think it might have been the fact that she looked like Bambi, one of my all-time favourite Disney movies too.
CalicoWolf: Anything else?

F a l l e n ♥: Nothing else, but I have to thank you for choosing my pet to be featured, it really is an honour.

Character Spotlight

Bah! I'm Axel. I'm 23 years old, and I'm the captain of an airship! I live in La'Fatia with Rowie and Pan and all them, but I'm not really associated with them. Hmph. I guess Coon is my friend. More like a lackey. Heh! I love my expensive clothes and my cape. Don't touch my fox skin scarf!

CalicoWolf: What inspired his looks?

Abissh: Well, I actually bought his wolf design, but I changed a few things. His horns were longer, but I thought it to be more of his character if they were short and sharp. His human form has a lot of different things. I wanted him to be sort of a royal steampunk character. His clothes are old fashioned, a silk grey cape with a jewel clasp, and a fox skin scarf. I had never really seen any characters with one (Not saying he's the only one) but I thought he would look great with it.
CalicoWolf: Do you relate to him at all?

Abissh: In a way, yes. I relate to all of my characters.
CalicoWolf: How so?

Abissh: Axel has the sort of spunkiness that I sometimes have. I think he is a fun character who loves old fashion and unique clothing, and doesn't care what others think about him.
CalicoWolf: Anything else?

Abissh:: I would be very honored to have one of my beloved characters in the spotlight. Thanks for the opportunity! Plus Axel likes the attention. ;D

'Sona Spotlight

CalicoWolf: Please tell us a little about them.

TheCalicoTabby: Her name is Aimée, named after myself. Her personality is basically mine; lazy, a bit shy, loves to draw and daydream. She's my third fursona, created about two months ago. CalicoWolf: How did they come about and to represent you?

TheCalicoTabby: While I liked my former fursona, after a while I found she didn't really seem to represent me anymore. To fix that, I created Aimée. I tried to make her look like me---her fur colour matching my hair, scars that match mine, even spots to represent freckles. She's also a bit chubby, with long legs and big paws, also to resemble me. One of my favourite things about her is her short tail. Besides me liking bobbed tails, cats use their long tails for balance and communication; two things I'm not always very good at. CalicoWolf: Anything else we need to know about your sona?

CalicoWolf: How did the story/theme come about?

Sandshadow98:Well, I kinda based off of my own life. A similar thing happened to me, so I wrote about it. I express my feelings through writing quite alot. (Yeah...I know, a little weird. XP)
CalicoWolf: Why did you pick those particular pets?

Sandshadow98: I picked these two pets because they were the same because I think it shows that these pets have alot of things in common. Although, they are dressed up differently to show that they do have differences as well as these similarities.

CalicoWolf: What inspired you to make the art in your shop?

Hekomi: I've been meaning to do art the past little while, but hadn't really got the chance to do so. I've been pretty art blocked lately but opening the shop has really given me a great inspiration to keep working and power through my art. It also has given me a lot of practice, which any artist needs to grow.
CalicoWolf: Why Llamas, Alpacas and Weasels?

Hekomi: Well, llamas for obvious reasons, I love them! Alpacas I do love as well, and my boyfriend has been pestering me to draw alpacas for a long, long time. Weasels, because Bernouli wanted them, but also because I kind of like having weird "quirky" things in my shop you may not find elsewhere. I'm a pretty unique person in real life, and I wanted my shop to reflect that.
CalioWolf: Now there has been a sudden boom on Llama Love, but were you ever worried the Alpacas and Weasels wouldn't be as popular?

Hekomi: Ehh, not really. I figured if they weren't as popular, people just wouldn't order them and just go for the llama lines. Surprisingly, this hasn't been the case, and alpacas are by far my most "ordered" lineart.
CalicoWolf: Anything new coming in the near future?

Hekomi: Well, I'm having a custom auction right now, basically to dip my toes in. But after that I should be offering customs on a fairly limited basis. I also have a list of lineart I hope to provide, or at least try, in the future, some of which include: a platypus and fennec fox. c:

Let me start with her shop. Hekomis Llamalings & Alpacapuffs really does have wonderful service. I was the first to order from it and I have been very satisfied from the start. She has great service and from what I've experienced and the posts on her thread, I'd say that everyone that has ordered so far has been satified. Her prices are very cheap and even if you don't have payment, you can always shoot her a PM and she'll work something out. You usually never have to wait long for your orders. Only 2-3 day and they always turn out wonderful. She also does have a tendency to use join.me and steam her orders to help her know what to do and fix and she's kind enough to not do your orders if you're not on. Sometimes while join.me-ing, she will draw line arts for you to rate/ask for a shop lineart and also make free pieces for art weither for your birthday, holiday, or just to be nice. She is an amazing artist and as you can see, I'll order from her again and again.

Welcome to the Fifth Issue of The CS Gazette. Published July 8th, 2012.

Time for some reviewing! This month is the Marvelous month of May. What can we expect this month? Who made what, and how will it grow up? Find out in DD and Pid's corner,Our views and expectations on this month's newborns!

Let's start with some dogs, shall we?

Selcouth made me!

These pups by Selcouth sparked my interest the moment I saw them on the adoptables page. The bright yellow on the blanket mixed with the dark colours of the pup gives off a feel of mystery in them to me. They already seem to be favourites of most of CS this month, including myself.

Leurai made me!

If these pups aren't based on plastic, I might be a bit disappointed. I'm not a fan of over used highlighting in dogs but I won't kick these pups to the curb just yet. I adore the colour combinations on the blanket so my hopes are still high for them.

Tyr made me!

Omg. Sunrise. Fork. No idea what these pups are but the blanket has me intrigued. I love, love, love the soft colours of the pup though and hope they carry over to the next stage. :3 Perhaps the fork means that when I see the next stages I'll just want to yummynomnom them right up. BI

Cat Corner!

Ricorn made me!

A kitten litter made by Ricorn. The adoption number was rather low, so i don’t think we’ll get many kitties. Not that that matters! Natural colors thought the blanket is very green/pink. I suspect we are getting a few nice cats, natural looks with unnatural markings.

New month, new rat. This month, the rat is grey with some sort of green/darker grey markings. The rat reminds me of aliens to be honest. Weird green, glowy markings. The markings sure pop out!

Ricorn’s third pet this month. I’d say Ricorn is on a roll! The soft colors on this butterbaby look fabelous. Though i’m hoping for some abstract type markings, we’ll have to wait and see!

o.o These spider babies have spines! Well. Cactusspiders? When i first saw them, they imidiatly reminded me of cactusses! Maybe we’ll get some nice suprises this month and we’ll see the babies grow into some spiny adults!

Leetleleetle eggy. We can see 3 clear colors; green, blue and yellow. And some greyish stripe over it. Maybe those stripes will stay? I hope so! We can use some owls with tiger stripes. I don’t really know what to think of this litter, but hopefully they’ll turn out adorable!

Pretty Ponies!

Tyr made me!

Grey pony with white stripes. Not much to say about that, though i’m very interested. Usually, a ‘boring colored’ baby means sparkling and dazzling adults! We’ll have to sit back and wait for these babies to start growing, but i have high hopes for them!

Solloby made me!

Solloby has had some nice design’s in the past, and therefor this horse also interests me. What do we see on this baby? Green mane, purpleish tail, white ‘socks’, brown legs and a darker body. If you look closely, you can also see a white marking on the front of the horse’s head. Shiny! I’m guessing this will be a nicely filled litter, where every color i just mentioned will be outed by one of the adults!

I'm actually going to start off with my favorite litter/set this month. It just happens to be a canines that Selcouth designed. Anyway; I love the stark yellow used on this litter. I absolutely adore the designs for this reason. I love how one has subtle markings and the other just pops because of the drastic contrast.

Try created this litter this month. I have to say they certainly capture the essence of summer. Warm colors with a mixture of natural brown and white. I like that she went with the floppy ear lineart this month.

Leurai created this beautiful batch this month. I have to say I wasn't sure what to expect with the pup but I love the assorted designs each seems to have. She did very well with the contrast and color combinations go well together. I have to say the aqua and dark pelted one is my favorite from this batch just due to the contrast of the two colors.

Ricorn produced this months litter of cats. I'm not sure what the inspiration of them was but to me they look like they have either very long grass like coats on; or they have very shaggy fur that makes them look like they are wearing coats or something to the same effect. Though I do like their little puffs of hair on top of their head. Very interesting litter this month.

Ricorn created this interesting batch of Butterfly Wolves this month. I have to say I really love the theme for these guys. It took me a moment to realize that they were all based of the ocean. Water; sea spray or even kelp is put into these designs. I love the creativity they bring.

Tyr created this months ponies. I really love the neon and unnatural colors used on this set. More so since they are so starkly contrasted by their black base color. I love the variety used as well.

Solloby created this months batch of horses. I have to admit I didn't come to appreciate them till I grouped them together in the above image. I know it sounds silly but I love how they look besides each other. I love the natural browns and even green tossed onto the designs. Though I have to say my favorite is the white with the black ring like markings; that one is absolutely stunning.

Leurai produced this owl batch. I really adore the colors and the variations used on the designs; and the fact they've stayed with PPS. I adore the owls in this stage. I'm not exactly sure if the designs were inspired from actual birds or other wildlife but I do have to say they some what remind me of parakeets. The white and blue of this batch has to be my favorite.

Ricorn produced this months batch of rats. I have to say they remind me of leafs mixed in with a henna/Indian sort of style of art. I love the simple yet complex patterns used.

Last but not least; Ricorn also produced this months batch of spiders. I really can connect with these guys since I live in a desert myself with plenty of Cacti. I really love the connection and even the PPS cactus fruit spider. So I suppose its a prickly pear spider. ;3 Very well done and I love the creativity of this.

Parents:
I must admit that this is my one of the more interesting couples I’ve seen. If you look around the eyes, you’ll notice that they both have markings similar to a mask. Both dogs are darker colored, and their contrast between colors isn’t that extreme, meaning the “masks” around the eyes, if any, won’t turn out to be too out of place. The last thing they have in common are socks, which are differences in fur color on the toes and/or entire foot, hence the name “sock”. Both dogs have darker socks than the color of their body. All in all, these dogs will make great pups together! Continue on reading to find out more about the baby puppies, and all of their full-grown outcomes!

Blanket and Pups:
Though the blankets caused a stir of excitement around the site, with their interesting designs piquing everyone’s interest, I was more elated at the pup stage. The canines seem to have taken the great aspects of each parent –space from one, and an almost demonic and spiritual seeming aura from the other- and found the perfect combination. You could almost organize these pups in a line to how closely they resemble each parent. They seem to have one for each parent that is simply bolder, emphasizing that particular parent, using the other parent’s designs to compliment it. Then there seem to be two missle ground dogs that lean just a bit toward which parent they most resemble. I love the eye coloring in each pup, plus the use of tail decor that two pups have, coming from the mother. Now I’m just anxious to see these pups grown!

Grown:
I saw these pups full-grown and my jaw dropped. The pups grew wonderfully! Their coats are mesmerizing, fur accessory dazzling, and the resemblance to the parents are perfectly distributed throughout the litter. The dogs each have very unique characteristics gifted to them by the artist, and still keep that balance between them. Each one measures up to, and then surpasses, the expectations I set for the litter. I honestly cannot, in right of mind, critic this litter. The artist did a virtually flawless job with this group, and I can’t wait until I collect the whole litter!

Since early 2009, there have been just over 40 types of owls. With pretty much the same lineart through out. But with rainbow owls to the cutest pps ones, the cs team have never been short of designs.

In sum, owls are, well, owls. Over the 4 years cs has been host to owls, there’s been very little change in designs. Many owls are basically the same, and are based on an earlier owl. However, the cs team do have a few amazing owls, such as the ‘midnight’ 2009 pps owl. But I have never seen any great streak of owl genius.

I interviewed two people about owls, they told me

From the general reaction, mixed with my own thoughts, I give owls a 5/10; they can be cute, but they needs a design revamp if they are to become more popular!

'America! American unicorn. Defying mythology. And logic

an immediate pick-up of this, I decided on a rather wide group of items: the unicorn set.

Now, I'm kind of cheating here, let the record show that i am aware of that. I reviewed the free western set in my last rreview, but this item set has quite a few more uses than simply stated under its horse and pony model set. I've seen these items used on dogs, PPS pups, and even on the new lineart cats in some circumstance. Is it a horse/pony? Yes. Is it only for the equines? Not at all. What can I say? I'm a bit of a cheat when it comes to these things, so are a lot of other users out there.

I can't truly break this one down since it's really just one big group set, so bear with me here.

The set as a whole is very molding to its intended use, and the little nooks and crannies in the items allows for them to be easily applied without any confusion. This is a common problem, at least for me, when I'm applying items to my pets. This problem is avoided, which I'm pleased about. However, my main problem with the mane/tail combo is the appearance, but to a different degree. The mane to me seems rather thin and stringy. The tail looks think but the mane looks much thinner. Maybe it's the texture of it, but I can't shake this feeling whenever I use it, on a horse or a pony. The beard also seems a little pointless, I only put it on the model to display what a full set looks like. Yet, the mane is an item I see used as 'flowing' hair on many dogs. Where it looks even thinner. Yeah.

The hooves fit well and they're easily applied to whatever you're trying to applied them to, horse or pony. I have no complaints, but I don't have anything else to say about them either. They're cloven

Colors! We're leaving the aspect that makes a unicorn a unicorn for the very last. For the moment we're going to be looking at the colors of the rainbow, plus some! Yes, there is a rainbow set. Yes, it looks like you could make a Rainbow Dash duplicate if you get a blue pony. Why. I've seen it at least twenty times already. Get over it. Anyway. Back to the not rainbow set. The black and white sets are by far the sets I see used most often, and they are the two sets I own in my own item inventory. They look lovely on their respective black and white models, but unless you do a good job with color coordinating (which I dont), the other colors will probably do a better job. However, the pink just seems misplaced. If I wanted a splash of color that wasn't natural, I would have taken it a step further and put on the rainbow set. It looks good on a couple of horses, but not many. It's the one you probably want to skip when/if you're going to buy a set. The black and white are the most useful, with the blonde and brown following.

Now it's the horn that separates a unicorn from a normal horse. When I look at the sets side by side, I see only three different horns amongst all of the sets. Unless I really sit down and dissect the coloring, only the rainbow and black horns look truly different, the others just look like off-whites. But that's not really an issue unless you're the type who wants to be spending your money on different items, purely different items each time. My main problem is the connection point of the horn with the head of whatever it's being used on. It just looks like it was stuck there, it does not look like a horn unless you covered the collision point with another item (the mane, obviously, on a horse/pony). This is really my only problem. A transparent blending end to the horn would have solved this problem easily, it's been done on other parts of the set (the hooves), but this is where it was really needed. The horn is the central part of the unicorn, and to have an error in that aspect is rather... horrid, to say the least.

Well, I wrote this all in one sitting. Straight through to the end! I shouldn't feel as acomplished as I do. Now, I must return to the land of rainbow and sugar and unicorns galloping across cotton candy. I have return from my hiatus for this duty calling and now I must be making my leave! Until the next issue.

It’s time for new store pets!
This month’s store pet were made by Tyr. These pets seem to be horses. Well, sort of horses, I guess you could say their unicorns. But there tail doesn’t really fit the part. Whatever these animal they happen to be they certainly are interesting. I love how amazing their hair looks. And the designs on their coats are beautiful. I don’t agree on their color scheme however. I mean some of the colors are great….just not so together. For example:

The colors just do not really look good together. Of course that’s just my opinion. Though I think the rest of the store pets look marvelous. My favorite one would have to be the black with red green blue and white.

It looks like a rainbow on his pelt! So, since I love rainbows obviously that one has to be my favorite. I also love the lightning bolt. Though, two of them have lightning bolts on them.

Tammanae: I have always loved African Wild dogs, so when a litter of them was released on CS, I was immediately smitten with them. Landscape is usually the one that gets dressed up most often however because he is my favorite of the litter.

Tammanae: There wasn't really an idea behind it. I tend to like combining colors, so I started with the hat and it sort of went on from there.

Saerffin7: The story of how I got this character is actually slightly amusing, there were I believe 4 people all bidding for it (including me) and while I didn't have the biggest bid, the creator, Rivercat, decided that in order to be more fair for who got it instead of through payment, she used a random number generator, giving the bidders each the number in the order they bid in. I was a second and luckily that's what came up on the random number generator. ^.^ And thanks for giving me this chance, lol. ^.^

CalicoWolf: Is there more story/part to this pairing?

CalicoWolf: How did the story/theme come about?

Kore: Well it started as an inspiration. At first I just wanted to write a normal love story, but each time I imagined it out I kept thinking of two different scenes for different storylines. Both of them I enjoyed too much and I couldn't choose which one I liked most with the pair. So I decided to use both and make the story more of a "what if" sort of thing, where one little change of action sets the two stories down completely different paths. Once I settled that, the story began to unfold on its own.
CalicoWolf: Why did you pick those particular pets?

Kore: I wanted pets to represent opposites, but I couldn't decide on which two. I went through all my favourite groups and chose a handful of ones that popped out for me. I tried to not pick the cat PPS, but the more I thought about it the more it made sense to me. It made Zelenia more than just a vague idea; it brought her to life with a spark. Edan was more difficult however, no pet I found seemed good enough. Just when I was about to give up and settle on another pet, I came across the winged 2nd gen. He was perfect, a playful contrast to the cat's more serene appearance. From there they sort of formed their own roles. For me they really seemed to become the fire and the moon I described them as. They may not be as opposite as the sun and the moon or fire and water, but that concept of love between a flame and the night stone was too beautiful an image for me to give up. Really, I didn't choose the pets; they were just waiting for me to find them.
CalicoWolf: Anything Else?

Kore: I guess the only thing really left to mention is my source of inspiration. A lot of times I usually get ideas from pictures, songs, dreams; things that already have an idea to them even if it's not the idea I run with. However, this whole thing first was just the feeling I get when I'm with the one I love. I wanted to convey that feeling, that mix of fear and bliss; I just wasn't sure how.

CalicoWolf: What inspired you to make the art in your shop?

~Apple~: I made some fake pets for friends of mine, as gifts, and people really seemed to like them. So I decided to start selling them. As for the avatars, I don't really know what inspired me to do that.
CalicoWolf: Why Fake Pets?

~Apple~: As said above, I gifted a few, and then other people started asking if I took commissions.
CalioWolf: Why the Avatars?

~Apple~: I loved the new CS avatar feature, and I wanted users to be able to. Have custom avatars similar to those.
CalicoWolf: Anything new coming in the future?

~Apple~: Most likely other fake pet line arts, like cats. ^u^ I haven't decided between big cats or domestic yet.
CalicoWolf: Here is what Tiger111 has to say about Apple's shop:

Tiger111: Weell... I think that ~Apple~'s art shop is great, she is certainly a talented artist. Her shop prices are quite high, but I guess otherwise tons of CS users would want to order and poor Apple would be overstressed. Also, art takes time, so I think that her prices are fair, even if I've seen lower ones. The wait time isn't very long at all, but I did wait about a month maybe for my art because Apple was busy, but she did have to do three pieces, so I was okay with that. The outcome is high quality art, and I think she is great at re-creating designs on her lines and drawing custom lines. Mmmh...what I'd like to see? Maybe the chance for users who can't afford her price to have special prices, but she did reserve me a space until I got the payment, so I don't think so. New lines maybe? You know, the colour-in one? Or more than just fake pets and avatars, maybe the avatars could be animated, or she could do customs/backgrounds? I think her shop is fine as it is, though c:

CalicoWolf: Is there any story or description that goes with the drawing?

Kuar is my character, the one with the wings. But the lovely girl there is Shay Verdana's character in the RP The Wren. Its an Assassin RP, which..people do just that assassinate targets and return for their rewards. Now Kuar and Shay, being Both Immortal met a LONG time ago, before the Wren was created. Somewhere down the line they were separated only to meet up again years later..on different ends of the battle field. Kuar having been working with Malacia, one of Shays rivals. All ends well though, this was meant to be placed in the past.

I love the soft colours of this litter and how this aspect carries on through all three stages. They are pretty simplistic, which I normally enjoy. The litter all the way through adulthood are pleasing to the eyes and the almost repetitive designs of swirls and circles made them feel like a true litter. It's always nice to see curl tailed dogs popping up on outcomes so out of this litter of pups, that one is probably my personal favourite.

Ricorn made me!
These were probably my favourite litter of this month, excluding the second gens. The first noteable aspect of these pups has nothing to do with the design but the fact that we recieved them earlier than the other monthly adopts. Many thanks to Tess and Nick for this sweet little surprise after the site going down and the losing a Friday.

The vine design one the blanket caught my attention right off the bat since I'm so fond of earthy colours, I couldn't wait to see these guys grow up. The second stage of the litter didn't disappoint my initial views of these dogs. The cream pup seemed to be the most popular from the litter but myself had quite a fancy for the purple eyed pup. In adulthood, this litter seems to give off a sight 'tribal' feel to them.

When adopting this months cat litter, you had a chance of getting a lion cub! Of course, the community of CS shook and the insane run and scramble to get this lion cub started. Even now, when writing this article, allot of members have not found a lion cub yet. I myself was lucky enough to have 2 gifted to me, but i know allot of people who didn't have that luck.

Either way, let's look at the kittens first, shall we? This months litter was created by Leurai, and i have to be honest, they interest me. The blanket shows some unnatural coloring, while the kitten itself wears normal/light colors. The spots on it's head are pretty adorable, as are the spots on it's legs. All in all, this is a rather pretty kitten and i can't wait for it to start growing!

Lion cub, lion cub, lion cub. Why so hard to get? When i went lion searching, i found 1 lion after searching 30 people! That's allot of people! It's made by Sorren Fey. If you look closely, you can see blue markings near the paws and ears, but also red'ish markings on the tail. What will this beauty be? Male or female? We'll know as soon as it grows up.

After a few days, day 7 to be precise, the lion cub grew up and revealed it's gender. Female! A few people i know were rather disapointed by this, they had all expected the lion cub to be male BUT! i'm quite happy. The May lioness from last year has to be one of my favorites and i really can't wait for this baby girl to grow up and show us what secrets she holds. The markings are becoming somewhat clearer now.

As for the cats, They started growing at day 10. The first outcome was a pink outcome, then came the grey, the purple and last the green. The grey pps turned out to be a challenge for some people as well, it's a pps and it already gets hoarded aplenty. As for the other outcomes, they are all so pretty! Especially the green one, in my opinion. Buttt i adore the eyes on all of them! The pink cat comes with pink eyes, the grey cat with green eyes, the purple with yellow eyes and the green cat with light pink eyes. They just look amazing, this has to be one of my favorite litters this year.

Look-y here, all grown up. As you can see, i left the grey pps out, since well...it'll never be adult xD. The markings on all the cats are just plain amazing and i'm so happy that the eyes didn't change! It's great, really. And the lion. I'm sure the lioness dazzled everybody once she grew. She's amazing! I am so glad i got her, great big cat for sure. Sorren Fey did an excellent job! Jup, new lion to add to my list of favorites. This month has been a great month for cat lovers, i can tell you that!

Horses and Ponies

Another month has come around and another batch of lovely ponies have been added. The newborn seems to be natural colored with a few oddities to the pelt. There are stars scattered about on the newborn design which leads me to believe we'll see more of the stars during these ponies adult stages. I'm looking forward to seeing the outcomes.

Ricorn made me!
Ricorn made this lovely Foal this month. At first glance I'm not sure where she is going with this newborn foal. The white body indicates it might go anyway with the pastel rainbow like mane and tail. Though I find in these designs there are often up for grabs or the mystery egg so to speak. I'm sure they'll be lovely once they grow. ;3

Sorren designed this months batch of Ponies. I have to say that this months outcome didn't much surprise me as far as design. There are a few more coloration's than I first expected; though they don't vary very much. Then again I'm sure designing so many pets is not an easy task. These are very simple and clean cut with the star like patterns on their pelts. The little splashes of color are nice.

I love the creativity and thought Ricorn brings with any design she does. I wasn't sure what to expect of these foals. Though they seem simple yet pleasant. This outcome happens to be one of my favorites with the roses and ribbon added; and the soft pastel pinks. The colors really suit the white pelt of the horse. At first glance you wouldn't believe it but I learned that this months batch of horses were inspired by a carousel horse. I find the simplistic plain coat pleasing with the added accessories and its hard to believe this is the first time she's done a horse design. Can't wait to see more from you Ricorn!

Owls

Sorren Fey made me!
This months owl eggs are very abstract. Almost reminds me of a painting. Bright colors, sharp edges. Once the owlets started growing, it soon became clear that these babies will be fabulous colors! Owls never were my favorite species, and bright colors are not really my thing either. But there's one owlet that sparked my attention, The blue purple one. It grew up to be absolutely gorgeous. It's siblings aren't bad either, they look great together. All and all, this month was a good owl month, for those who collect/hoard owls.

Spiders

This months spiders are, well - Well, there isn't much you can really do with spiders I guess. The one thing I found fairly interesting in the adult stages of this spider were the jewels/eyes/whatever you want to call thems on the rear. I like to believe they are more eyes personally. Adds some flavour to a lineart that is extremely hard to add any flavour to.

Rats

Leurai made these months rat babies, and They look pretty awesome. As soon as they grew, people went guessing with what these rats resemble. To be honest, i have no idea. The darkest one, reminds me of a slice of meat, the green one of vegetables and the light brown one of potatoes, but if i'm right? no idea xD. Nice additions for those who hoard food pets and a 3 rat litter is always refreshing next to the bigger dog litters we get each month C:

Sweet Release

This month we got another Dog 2nd Gen litter, bred by Leurai. The parents consisting of: the brown pirate dog coming from 2011, designed by Ricorn and the blue dog from a June 2010 litter by Shima Luan.

I think the pairing is very original, the more natural brownish colors with stripes and the blue oceanlike spotty one. I expect to see a combination of the colors and the markings, stripes and spots on the puppies in variations of the parental colorings.

We've gotten 4 outcomes of this pairing. In the blankets we see 2 blue outcomes, one darkish brown one, and a lighter brown one with blue highlights. They give us a taste of the colors that will come forth, but I can't wait to see the markings.

The second stage pups reveal the markings, and wow don't they look lovely? We can also see floppy ears and bobtails on 2 of the puppies. I like the stripey patterns on the dogs, I am not such a big fan of spots, but if you look closely to the brown outcomes you can see faint spots in the fur, which gives the fur a nice texture.

The adult versions have gotten a little more detailed than the second stages, but haven't changed much. The patterns and colorations remaining the same.The markings became more apparent, which I like a lot, really standing out.
My personal favorite of the litter being the brown one. I like the color combinations and the markings. I love how there are different shades of brown, that are only brought out more with a white fur on the front of the dog and the black stripes running across it.
I also really like the light blue one, the different colors of blue uncountable and small white stripes giving it a light flow. All in all a very pretty litter, well done!

Tess: When I was a kid I never had any pets of my own, so I played on a LOT of virtual pet sites. When I was about 11 or 12 I was totally addicted to Neopets and started getting ideas about having my own adoptable site. I tried many times and failed since I simply didn't have the skills to build something like that, and it wasn't until I was 18 that I started putting CS adoptables online. It's not the exact dream I had as a kid, since CS isn't full of flash games and activities, but it's probably as close as I'll ever get. forestostrander:How hard is it to run this site?

Tess: Well, the workload varies from month to month so some months are very hard and sometimes it's a breeze. I get a lot of help from other staff, especially Nick and the admin assistants who can take care of some of the admin issues when I can't get online. The busiest times are before and during our major events like Easter, Halloween, the mid-Summer event or Christmas. At those times there is a lot of planning to do to get the events running, and then the site gets very busy so there is a lot of extra moderating to do. I put a lot of time into the site and rarely get a day off, but some days there isn't too much for me to do so I can just relax and enjoy my time on CS. forestostrander:Do you ever feel overworked while running this site?

Tess:Definitely! For the past 4 years that CS has been open I have been in University for 3 of them, then in a foreign language school in Japan for 10 months. It has been very hard to keep up with school work and CS work at the same time, and the major events are almost always during my exams. Sometimes my real life commitments suffer for it, and sometimes CS suffers for it. It can be very stressful at times, but also really fun most of the time and our staff and members are very supportive. I definitely have many big plans for CS, which I'm looking forward to working on now that I'm finally out of school! forestostrander:Do you have any plans of bringing any more pet lines onto the site in the near future?

Tess:I have been thinking about that recently, but we don't have any solid plans right now. I'm actually going to be very busy for the next month as I'm travelling the US, so there won't be any major additions in the very near future. forestostrander:What progressed your love in squidds?

Tess:Well, this story might gross some people out. At University I majored in Zoology. For my course it was a requirement to do some animal dissections. One day we were given (dead) squid to dissect, and I just fell in love with it. It had adorable big shiny eyes! I went right home from the lab and ordered a squid plushie straight away. I've been cuddling that plushie ever since! forestostrander:Where did you start off to make this site and was it free at first?

Tess:When I first put the CS adoptables online, it was just a side project for another site I was running (which is now gone). That site was originally hosted on a free webhost, but by the time I put the adoptables up I was paying a hosting fee of $4/month. It wasn't free, but it was a lot cheaper than it costs these days! As the site grew we were forced to change hosts and pay more and more for hosting to keep the site from crashing from all the activity. However, it is definitely possible to start an adoptable site on a free host, most free hosts will be able to keep up with small sites for a while. forestostrander:How exactly do you do coding to pets and items or is that top secret?

Tess:Well, Nick wrote the code from scratch. He majored in computer science so he's pretty good at programming and coding, I couldn't have made CS without him. We're not about to share our codes, but if you're interested in learning a little php coding to make adoptables like ours then you could look up Rusnak scripts - they provide some code and information for free. It's not identical to our coding, but it's probably one of the best free sources I know of. forestostrander:Was it hard to learn coding? (just looking at it myself before gave me a headache)

Tess:Well, Nick is really the coding genius, not me, so I couldn't really say how hard it was for him. But I can tell you he has been coding since before he started elementary school, so I suppose he has a long history! The only coding I ever learned was HTML and CSS for web design, as I used to make a LOT of websites and free web layouts for friends. I taught myself HTML and CSS when I was around 13 using free information websites. All you really need to do is google for HTML tutorials and you'll find a lot of good free information. We used to provide some tutorials on CS many years ago, but I guess they got deleted. The first CS adoptables were simple HTML-based adoptables which I also coded myself. But all the more advanced things like having multiple outcomes, trading, dressing up etc is all done by Nick. forestostrander:When do you put up applications for openeings and do you have to be 18 or older to apply for an opening?

No. I'm answering your questions now. No, this is not a review of the items from the beach event. As I write this the event has not ended and I honestly lost track of what day it is for it. Seven? Eight? I refuse to review the items until I have seen them all-- and they'll most likely be split into two reviews. This si my form of a disclaimer, watch for the beach item reviews in the upcoming month, and perhaps the month following that.

hat that's taken care of I can start this article. I don't have my contacts in and my glasses got run over by a car (I'm not kidding), so this should be a fun piece to edit and correct later on. What are we reviewing? The vain of my existance on Chicken Smoothie-- or at least the items that we were pacified with after said event. The Steampunk items, released for a limited item for free after all data was erased from Friday. I'm sure we all have lovely memories of that fist shaking moment.

The dictionary defines steampunk as a sub-genre of science fiction, alternate history, and speculative fiction that came into prominence during the 1980s and.. I find this relevant while I look over the items, as they should fit their name and description. Let the paranoia begin!

I refuse to include a full layout of the tools, in every single size-- there's what, fifteen? I'll list some of them, but not all of them. Honestly, I have nothing to say about these little items. The little parts make for some nice surrounding items on the ground, and the tools give an added effect. The wrentches are a little bland, honestly, so are the screwdrivers. No other complaints. Shocker, really. They don't stand out very much, but there's nothing absurdly wrong with them.

The little airship is next in my item line-up, but it doesn't really fit in either of the two item

groups I've set aside for this review. The airship is very cute and is one of my personal favorites from the steampunk set.

Now for the body-wear. These are what I define as the highlight of this entire set. With this set you get a tool belt, two pairs of goggles (on the eyes and off), a wristband, a monocle, and boots. The belt is cute, and the way it fits onto each pet is very smooth and easy to apply properly-- which I am thankful for. The goggles are easy to fit onto a pet and line up whether you're going by the position on the forehead or the alignment for the eyes. The goggles are my favorite part of this st, honestly. They have a wide range of use and I even traded for multiples of each pair. I am a menace. The wristband is nice, but again, nothing special in my eyes. The only thing is has going for it is the fact it's a thick bracelet/wirstband when we really don't have many. The monocle is adorable, nothing more needs to be said. Of course, you can probably guess what item I find rather... useless. The boots for the back legs of the pet just do

n't seem to be, well, boots. Whenever I try to use them they always look more like socks than boots or even shoes.

Well, I wrote all of this without being able to see past two inches in front of my face. Overall, I've heard mixed thoughts on these items. Many people like them, but many people do not. There's a viewpoint that sees this set of item as a pacifier given to the users after the site data erase, and without going into detail on the thoughts on that entire ordeal-- there are people who just don't like what they represent from a release perspective. I can't balme them. I lost a lot of trades (including two dream pets gifted to me) from that data erase and because of that I had, and still have to a lesser degree, a dislike for these items. These items are either lovd or hated, and a lesser percentage between is on the fence.

In my eyes this store set had to be made my someone with a creative mind and top skills in designing. Tyr is perfect for that spot, and was perfect at creating these pets. With the second one I feel like I'm in some sort of beautiful fairy tell from back then. The colors are just stunning on that horse. The gold and the green go together, and the red on the horse is stunning. Really, I wouldn't have thought of putting those colors together, but now that I see them on the horse, I adore them.
Take the third one as another example. For some reason I feel like I'm looking at a horse that's design had something to do with creatures from 'The Last Unicorn'. A pet that holds beauty and darkness at the same time.
With the last one I feel like I'm staring at the quote "There is always a rainbow at the end of the storm", you know? That through the darkness, there is a beautiful light.
Each of these horses hold a small story in my mind, making them more and more beautiful. Today is the last day to get them, so please do adopt a bunch if you like them as much as I do. c:

This year CS treated us to another Summer Event. Lasting for a total of 10 days, the Summer Event gave us many new Items and Pets, the theme: Beach.
For nearly 2 weeks Chicken Smoothie members collected various items and tokens from a Banner and a Treasure Chest, collecting their needed tokens to get the pets and items they wanted. Every day brought new free Items and we've been given many exciting gifts. Here is what the Gazette Summer Event team has to say about our Beach Adventures

->Banner<-

This year, the banner, found every 20 minutes, featured Avian and tropical Totoro. It handed out a variety of colorful sea life to users who found it. Sheldon, Scooter, and Snapper, the pet sea turtles of the Surf Shop owner were found through the banner along with Zeus, Hermes, and Ariel, the beloved pets of Babel the merdog.
Along with the misplaced pets of the locals, ring toss tokens and various colors of sea horses could be found, too. These pets could be traded in at various shops, more about the shops later.

->Treasure Chest<-

The Treasure chest was to be found at the Ocean. Every 30 minutes we could go to the treasure chest and get something from it. These would be either Sand Dollars/Sea Shells, Pearls or Gold/Silver jewelry items. The Pearls were the currency used to spend at the mermaid, they came in 5 different varieties. A headpiece, 2 kinds of necklaces, a bracelet and a big or a small pearl. Personally I am quite fond of the jewels, but didn't really find a use for the single pearls for dress ups. I like decorating the pet more than the scenery : )
Then there were the Gold and Silver pieces. Golden and Silver Large necklaces and Arm Bracers and a Golden Locket, which I absolutely adore. It is a very nice, simple piece of jewelry and looks good on very many different kinds of pets. Absolutely adorable.
Lastly, the Sand Dollars and Sea Shells. These were abundant, and by me used primarily for tokens, again a scenery item for which I had no desire to keep them, though they did bring joy to many others ^.^

->The Surf Shack<-

The Surf Shack was run by a cute surfer-dog named Kaia. Every day, Kaia gave out a surfboard and swimming trunks to the beachgoers of CS.

On the last day of the event, she handed out leis, grass skirts, in honor of a last day beach party. Kaia also required help from members who visited her shack. According to her, pet sea-turtles Sheldon, Scooter, and Snapper, always get lost in the surf. If you can bring all three to her, she’ll reward you with two of three pets: a butterfly wolf, a dog, and an owl. The butterfly wolf, designed by Selcouth, is based off of a creature called the Sea Angel--a miniscule ocean slug. Bernouli brings us a representation of a flying fish in dog form while Tyr presents CSians with an Osprey look-alike owl.

->The Ice Cream Shop<-

Sandy Icecreams, run by a cute feminine dog, distributed various cold treats to users daily. Among these treats were ice-creams, popsicles, and a banana split. On the last day, the shopkeeper gave out a tropical puppy to her visitors, we've gotten a few outcomes already, with a palmy touch, can't wait to see how they grow!
Furthermore, if you happened to give her a set of three shells, a sand dollar, a clam, and a conch, she would help you build two sand castles which you got to take home as pets. The sand castles you could build with her included one PPS dog, a “normal” dog, and a pony. She could also give you the rare ring the pirates coveted for two seahorses.

->Clothes Store<-

So, was your pet the hottest on the beach? From the gracious and fashionable clothing shop owner Zack Fashion, there was a new free set of trendy clothes available daily. It consisted of a tank top, shorts, and sometimes an added shell necklace. The shorts are the first we have seen on CS, and we are bound to see them start more future layering trends. The tank tops and shorts came in all the colors of the rainbow, and there were two shell necklaces (one with a snail shell, the other a bar shell). But, on the last vacation day, you could get a totally hot hula and lei set for free!
Oh, but what about his trades? Surprisingly, you were not given items for trade ins with him. If you gave Zach three banner sea horses for clothes inspiration, you would get a random pick of a dog or one of two butterfly wolves. Also needing shell necklace supplies, if you gave Zack a conch shell, scallop, sand dollar, and string (read ‘The Mermaid’), and you got three random pets per set. The pets from necklaces supplies were random between three stunning butterfly wolves, a horse, and the only bunny in the event. A true pleasure and style setting booth!

->Ring Toss<-

The Ring Toss booth, run by an out-of-sight shopkeeper named Karn E., gave out various prizes if you traded in ring toss tokens, found in banners. The prizes changed every day. CSians could win fishbowls, necklaces, stuffed toys, and boats. However, on day six and ten of Avian and Totoro’s vacation, Karn E. switched up his prizes a bit. On day six, instead of the usual prizes, Karn E. offered only two prizes. Users could either win an aquarium dog or the fishbowl set from day one. Day ten gave us a chance of winning either the fishbowl set from day one or any of the plushies from previous days.

->The Pirate Ship<-

Captain Chickenbeard of The Pirate ship gave us a free scuba diving set on a daily basis. In the colors Red, Yellow, Green and Blue. Consisting from flippers, goggles, bubbles and a breathing tube. I love the Scuba sets, I would've liked to maybe see some more color variations, but am very happy with the ones we got. The air bubbles really finish the underwater feel.

The Pirate Ship also gave us a great new Dog Family. A Family of four. 2 Male adult Pirates, a Female Pirate and a PPS version. There was no need to collect and swap because for a ring and 6 Silver/Gold Pieces you got the entire set! ARRRRH!

->The Mermaid<-

Even in this scorching weather, you were able to cool your paws or new fins in the ocean with some pretty cool stuff! In the ocean of the summer event this year, you could find Babel the gorgeous Merdog in the underwater cave. For starts, she was handing out some adorable floaty sets (containing water wings and floaty rings) that came in five adorable styles; blue, red, yellow, green, and squiddy (to everybody’s delights).
Babel had a large variety of trading open, from items to pets. Many people were looking for string to trade to the Clothing Shop owner. To get it, you went to Babel and traded in any two sea horses (collected from the banners) and you got a roll from nets they had broken. Babel also handed out probably one of the trendiest items of the event, which soon dominated the Items Use thread with avid ice cream addicts and chilling surfers. Merdog and Sharkdog parts were a hit. You got matching shoulder fins and a tail for your dog to paddle in the water when you gave the mermaid some pearls. Pearls were obtainable through the chest as two different necklaces, a headpiece, bracelet, and a large and small pearl. There were a total of 9 different sets, and are still in fair demand as of today.
Babel’s pet selection didn’t cease to amaze. For trading in three hermit crabs (Named Zeus, Arial, and Hermes), you got a random selection of two pets from a pool of two butterfly wolves and a horse. So, Babel had a bit for everyone, and she won’t be forgotten easily!

->Squiddy<-

Squiddy, this little pink guy had already been hiding in the ocean for the first 6 days, but suddenly on day 7, we could click him. Squiddy let us trade in the missing pals for a couple extra new pets. You got 2 pets for 4 tokens. These could be any combination of Turtles, Seahorses and Crabs. We got 2 different colors of Turtle Rats, A Blue Ringed Octopus Dog, 2 new Squids, a Bubble Horse and 2 more Sea Life Butterflywolves. I quite like the pets that Squiddy Gave us, and thought it was quite funny he was already there, but not yet clickable, I had already tried to click him on the first day, because I thought A Squid must somehow be involved with the event and was disappointed that he was just decoration and didn't do anything. But then after a week he was added into the Adventure and treated me to my most favorite rats ever. The TURTLE RATS!

Corrupt Judgement: "This year’s summer event was great and many beautifully designed pets were released. I’d like to give a big hand to the artists for such wonderful line-edits. It was truly a delight to obtain such beautiful pets. As far as I’m concerned, this was a really fun, interactive summer event. I can’t wait to see what Tess comes up with next year. If it’s anything like this event, I know we’re in for a blast."

DragonLoverHere: "I adored last years summer event to no end. I even had a super hoard I was so addicted! So, naturally I was running around screaming in excitement when the new summer event came and it was official it's here to stay. The items this time around were fifty times more useful and likable in my opinion, as they will be used a lot in my dress ups. But, I like the hermit crabs best! I can't wait for another wow-tastic event next year, and hopefully it will go just a tad bit longer!"

Sweet Release: "I really loved this year's summer event. I am a sucker for extreme sports, surfer dudes, beach theme and Pirates! So the theme fit right up my alley. I enjoyed collecting for myself and many a friends, trading tokens in. I was less enthused about the pets, I just didn't really like the Butterfly Wolves but that's mostly 'cause Fish don't really interest me... What I did love were the Sea Turtles, pretty much all the items were really lovely!"

Beloved:How did you first think of this character?

Clowesia: It was a random doodle with no real meaning, I grew attached to it once I had finished. It was one of the first characters I ever drew, just when I started out teaching myself to draw (which is why its horrible looking and without legs)
Beloved: Any meanings behind the design? Quirks?

Clowesia: No not really, i was trying to go for an ocean theme, the dark greens and blues like that of the deep sea. Pho is an oriental dragon x chow, haha, and has an affinity for the sea. He eats pearls.
Beloved: What's his personality?

Clowesia: Personality: He is your average dog. Loving, full of energy (not too much, he prefers to snooze) is happy and just wants to cuddle and be petted.
Beloved: Does he have any relations with other characters of your's?

Clowesia: None at the moment.
Beloved: Anything particular you like about him?

Clowesia: He is uber fluffy and I can just imagine fluffing all his fur up even more as I pet him. He is the type of dog I'd love to play catch with, that's really what I like about him.

Imperishable: The main part is that the girl wants to be immortal; to be the the 'devil'.
CalicoWolf: How did the story/theme come about?

Imperishable: I was looking at the pets and.. it just sprung. I thought it'd be good practice.

Imperishable: They looked good together, and the 'devil' didn't look good or bad, but a bit dreaded, but the girl looks sweet and innocent.

CalicoWolf: What inspired you to make the art in your shop?

Corn Snake <3: Hmm, i'm not sure really. I remember looking for some of my favorite pets in stamp form but couldn't find any, i think at that point i decided i would make my own and see how they came out. Even if no one else liked them i knew i would, originally i wasn't doing customs, just the 08 Dogs but a member asked me for a custom just after i opened actually... since then I've been doing them both and i love it, the designs of the pets help with the making of these. They're just so beautiful i want to help people show what their dreamie's or favorites are in a small way and with each one loved it just inspires me to create more and to keep making people happy with these little things.
CalicoWolf: Why stamps?

Corn Snake <3: Well i wanted something small and compact i could use in my signature and still have my most favorite pet in without it being really huge. So i saw some stamps on DA and i thought, 'that's a good idea...' Since then, stamps have been what I've done and always will! I'm not very good at Signatures or little banner type things but i excel at stamps so i'm doing what i know well.
CalicoWolf: Why suddenly the bump signs?

Corn Snake <3: I made myself a bump sign a little while ago and only just recently made one for wolfiebaby to use while she was up at mine on holiday. It was after she started using it that i realized it was really pretty and i would love to make more of them, to share the ones i create. I know there are other users who create these and i saw them a long time ago, seeing theirs kind of inspired me to make some of my own, just to see how they'd turn out. It's taken me until now to try. I'll probably do customs of them too! hehe
Calicowolf: Anything new coming in the future?

Corn Snake <3: So far i'm not sure, i have entertained the idea of some avatars but i'm sure as they wouldn't be fancy ones, just plain and simple and maybe a few animated ones. But we'll just have to wait and see what the future brings.

Red Cherry Anime: When it comes to 'CornSnake<3' she is a very lovely and kinda person. Her stamps are to most high standards depending of the difficult and amount of layers needed. When it comes to tricky bits for her she will either make more than one stamp of the same stamp for the customer so they can chose the one they like most, or explain to them the situation and ask them to say how they would like it, trying to make it just like that the best she can. She gives her costumers a chance if they don't like the way the stamp was done to ask for a re-edit. The good thing about her shop is that it's for free. Most people making high quality stamps or icons and such would most likely ask for payment. When it comes to time limits in making the stamps we all must understand that sometimes, she will not be able to make them due to needing to look after her family. But whenever she is able to making stamps she will do it very quickly without rushing and post it as soon as it's done. She has just added slots for orders, which I think is a great idea from past times of not being able to stay online while people continue to rapidly post their forms. Now it should be much easier for her and for us, who are waiting for the orders. I wouldn't say that I would like anything to be added or removed. When it comes to the question of maybe avatars and signatures she has said to message her about such things, the reason being why it's not public is because she's not very keen with making them. I think this concludes my opinions on the Stamp Thread. In general CornSnake<3 is a very wonderful CS member who is wonderful at making wonderful stamps!

CalicoWolf: Well it seems as everything I was going to say Cherry already said, so no need to repeat myself. I have ordered several stamps for myself, clubs and The CS Gazette members [which for that batch, I insisted on paying for]. Tho she is taking care of her family, when she does get in the mood [aka has time] to make stamps, she gets on a roll and makes many in a very short time and all of very good quality. THERE WAS NO ISSUE FOR AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER BECAUSE I HAD MANY REAL LIFE ISSUES HAPPEN TO ME. I WAS IN NEW YORK, MY FRIEND'S BUDDY WAS MURDERED, MY FRIEND WAS KILLED OVERSEAS, THEN MY DAD SUDDENLY DIED OF A HEART ATTACK, THEN EVERYONE UP AND QUIT THE PAPER. THEN THE NEW STAFF, THEY HAD ISSUES GOING ON IN REAL LIFE. IT WAS JUST ONE THING OR ANOTHER. Dogs

These pups look like like they will be simple, black and white naturals. Of course, there isn't anything bad about that! Some of the best designs have been simple. And who knows what twists DisabledLlama will put in?

As expected, these dogs are nice naturals. They are obviously part of a set, while they have enough differences to set them apart, such as the placement of the black color. The different-colored eyes on the Husky Empty and the Spotted Empty is a nice touch. 8/10

Leurai made me!
Hmmm...I'm not quite sure what these pups will turn out as. We'll probably see the brown on the head somewhere, but I'm not so sure of anything else. Maybe something beach-ish, as the blanket reminds me somewhat of a beach towel.

Well, I was somewhat right! There was an outcome with a brown head. The blue colored dog was a nice surprise, I didn't really expect that. Besides the color, though, there wasn't much variety in the dogs. It's fine, but it would have been nice to have a bit more change between the dogs. 6/10

Cats

Ooh, glowing markings! That's always a good sign. The color of the blue is one of my favorite shades, and it looks great against the black. I see some nice shading as well. This is shaping up to be a great outcome.

Yup, these cats are great. The color blue looks even more spectacular against the black than it did as a newborn. They seem to just pop off the screen. The dots also look fantastic. For some reason, I really like the size of them. This is a great outcome. 10/10

Butterfly wolve time! We could only adopt 4, so there won't be many outcomes. We will most likely see blue-and-white outcomes. Some black will probably also be seen on this theses butterfly wolves.

I like these. You can see the blue, white, and black from the caterpillars, but there is also a nice pink bit on the Day 9 outcome. The remind me of frost and cotton candy. Am I the only one who thinks that? Anyway, the different shades of blue used in each outcome are good colors. You can see how they look close to the newborn's color, and yet totally different from each other. 9/10

Horses

These little beauties by Tyr could really grow up to be anything! I, like many other chickensmoothians, am expecting this months foals are based off a globe of the world or a map, with the desert, the ocean, the arctic and the coast. I’m hoping that the mane, tail and hooves will change color, but we'll just have to wait and see. The colors are pleasing to the eye and don't clash very much. I’ll be keeping an eye on these guys, that’s for sure!

Well, these, I’m sure, were a surprise to many people! Not an unwelcome one though, on the contrary, I absolutely love these horses! They look almost ancient, with the intricate swirls and exotic colors. Sadly, the tail, mane and hooves do not stand out, but they don’t really need to, with such a shockingly eye catching design. I would have loved it if the colors had been faded and historic looking, but we can’t have everything, can we? It was an outrageous move by Tyr to do something this bold, but it’s certainly paid off! Give yourself a pat on the back, Tyr, you deserve it!

Ponies

Oh, dear me! I must say, I’m not a big fan of the color choices on the ponies this month. The creams and browns go together pretty well, but the purple and blue don’t really match. I also hope that we can see a more intricate pattern on the adults. A few stripes just seem awfully simple and obvious. The cream belly of the foal is a great addition though, and I really hope it remains throughout the next stages.

Lets start with the first grown up, the brown one. I’m super glad that Leurai added more shades of color. They really blend in well, and look great and natural. The pattern pleasantly surprised me as well, with all the different markings. I love how the artist colored the mane to stand out without drawing attention away from the rest of the pony. Great job on this outcome, Leurai. Sadly though, I wish I could say the same for the other two. I was hoping to be as surprised at these two as I was for the last one, but they remained as color clashing and bizarre as I expected. I am glad that the cream belly was included in at least one outcome though. All in all, they’re not my favorite ponies.

Rat

This almost looks like 2 rats melded into one. One one side, you have a normal, close to natural color, and the other side seems to have fireworks on a blue background. Maybe the adults will have a almost natural background with little bits of color everywhere.

Ah, I see now. It was two rats melded into one! It looks to me as if Sorren Fey made the adults first, and then put them together to create the newborn. Now that I look closer, though, I can much more subtle swirls on the day 12 outcome, mimicking the flashier colors of the day 12 outcome. 8.5/10

As with most months, you can't tell very much with the eggs - but this month's owl litter looks enticing; a chocolate brown with honey golden spots that vary in size. Personally the colouring reminds me of Nutella, but according to the October Discussion Thread, some people think they look steampunk.

Well the owls grew up and they are both beautiful. The first growth is brown and gold, which is a wonderful combination many have always loved, but it also has very lovely popping eyes. The second growth is my favorite of the two owls this month. The whiting on its cheek is simply lovely. Many in the October Discussion Thread are calling them Sepia Galaxy Owls which is fantastic name for them as well.

We had two writers on the Gen Pet... One Being a Camiecat03 and the other by an Anon writer.

This time around is a little odd for 2nd gens because this litter all the the pups looked the same in there first stage. Usually they all look different. The design on this pup shows a birds spots on it's chest and a brown and green tones that come from it's Peacock parent. It has the grays, whites, and swirls from the moonflight Bobtail. These two parents will promise some very interesting outcomes that i believe will be spectacular.

There ended up being 5 different outcomes. We first got to see the PPS of the litter. It's design and color scheme seems to resemble the moonflight bobtail (the parent on the right). It has the swirls and the design on it's back as well as the greys, blacks and whites. actually it seems that the only thing it gets from the Peahen (the parent on the left) is it's green eyes. Most of the markings carried over were the swirls, the front legs and chest being different colors, the dappling on the chest and face and the pets muzzle having a different color then the base coat. I found it interesting that every outcome, except for the PPS, has a bobbed tail. Also that the only two in the litter who don't have natural colors is the third outcome with the neon green design.

this litter has four outcomes. a The patterns that seem popular in the pups is the snowflakes on the blankets, the freckles from the sock cookie (parent on right), the zig-zag designs, and the colors pink and tan. these two pets are a recipe for wonderful pets.

All the puppies have grown up and they look absolutely gorgeous. All the dogs have floppy ears in the litter. Plus all the dogs, except for the first outcome of the litter, are different shades of pink. They all are dappled and have the rough zig-zagging design. That first outcome is the eccentric pup of the litter, there seems to be at least one in each litter. It has the pink cookie's (the parent on the left) collar, solid ear colors and the front paws being two different colors. Overall, this is a spectacular group.

This month, Leurai surprised us with a nice new breeding. Parents of this pretty litter are the pink cookie from the 2008 advent and the White Sock cookie from

4 puppies to start with, and each blanket already shows clear differences. My personal favorite has to be the dark pink blanket out, the colors are great and it really sparks my interests.

As soon as they started to grow up, we could already see clear references to the parents. Most of them are pink, but they all have clear markings from both mom and dad!

My favorite adult is still the brown one, it’s a great combination of both parents, colors and markings are mixed up and i love the eyes and the collar! Leurai did a good job on this breeding.

This second litter was a mistake litter! The green pawned pup was released as normal outcomes, and only after about a week, after the first puppies had already grown, the 2nd gen tag was added and they were ‘ outed’ as a 2nd gen litter!

Parents are the kiss bobtail from 2009 and the peahen from 2010.

During the puppy stage, i fell in love with the grey puppy. But, when he grew up, he turned out to have the marking of the peahen parent, the one i like least. I was mildly disappointed by this but o m g the others worked out super great!

The grey dog is a peahen but with daddies color’s! And the others are great mixes 8D My favorite of the grown dogs is the cinnamon swirl, the little swirls on his shoulders and back are just plain adorable!

The oddball in this litter is the PPS, and i have to say, he’s quite refreshing. He reminds me of the kiss PPS, which is of course a brother to the dad of the pups 8D so that works out just great!

I typically love the dogs and wolves because Tess, Dianne, Lawliet, Solloby, Selcouth, Sorren Fey, Moonflight, Captain Wolfe, Malk and many more great artists, make them seem realistic. Dogs are popular along with the wolves although the wolves don't come out every month like the dogs do so the dogs are a bit more popular. I especially love the dogs from Christmas of 2008, my favorite is the black dog with blue eyes.

The dogs are very cool, a lot of users loved the Shima Longtail that Shima.Luan drew in November 2009. The litter was drawn by Shima.Luan, Mausoleum, equimagine, Moonflight, Lawliet, Vampiric, Fiery Gatoh, Compumon, Sorren Fey, Selcouth and Malk.
In conclusion, it is safe to say that the wolves and dogs are well known, popular and loved by probably all Chicken Smoothians.

Now, I have interviewed, WolfPackLeader77 to get her opinion on the dogs and wolves.

Shadow: What is your opinion on the dogs & wolves?

WolfPackLeader77: Well I, like a lot of people, really love the dogs. They've always been popular, but to me they're just my favorites.Shadow: Do you have a favorite dog/wolf artist?

WolfPackLeader77: I don't know if I have a favorite artist x3 I love a lot of the artists who made and designed each of the dogs.Shadow: What is your favorite dog/wolf?

WolfPackLeader77: My favorite? That's a tough one. I have so many favorites, like the Moon and Sun dogs, the Galaxy pups, the UR 09 dog, and even the Balloon dogs C:

Tragedae: I love role plays. Which is funny because I don't (only rare occasions) role play here on CS. I love reading stories and I think the best stories are created by multiple people. I also wanted a bigger site to moderate at. I already was working at a horse SIM game but we have really good users there so there's barely any need for me to be on their constantly like CS needs me to be. Plus, I love being a moderator and being on a team. forestostrander: Is it hard having to deal with not only rule breakers but also having to move topics?

Tragedae: Moving topics is not hard at all to deal with. I would actually prefer moving topics to rule breakers. Rule breakers are....they're a breed of their own that's for sure. Now, not the one time offenders, they usually don't understand but they do inquire about the rules and don't do it again. Multiple offense breakers are those who I just warn and I see a day, week, month later break the same rule that I had just warned for. (I've even seen one do it 13 mins after I had warned.)forestostrander: What's your most desirable pet to get on CS?

Tragedae: There are times where I feel overwhelmed. I take a look at the amount of threads in one forum and I think 'omg I will never be done'. However, those times I tend to just give up for the day and try again the next (or the next...or the next...or the next...). I don't think I'll ever actually get 'tired' of my job and want to stop. I've been here since practically the start and I don't plan on going anywhere soon. forestostrander: What was the most challenging thing you had to do while being a roleplay mod?

Tragedae: I haven't really had to deal with any challenging things. However, the first time I was announced, I had to deal with some serious drama/hurtful comments by some members. That comes with the territory though, people wanted my spot and since I got it, they turned towards me. If it wasn't me chosen, it would have been the other person Tess chose. I've learned to let comments (bad ones) about me just roll off of my back. I don't even react negatively anymore, I normally laugh. forestostrander: What items on here do you prefer over all the others?

Tragedae: Oh god. I'm a plushie/toy/pet hoarder. I see a bunny or a monster or a bird and I go crazy. I have to remind myself to not offer all my pets for one item. forestostrander: How is it working with the others on here?

Tragedae: It's really great actually. You know us moderators get a hard deal because we have to enforce the rules, so we get a lot of bad thoughts about us by (some) members, but the people that I work with are so wonderful. We're a tight knit family and I know I can turn to them if I need to and vice versa.

AlixZare: What is your most recent inspiration for your artwork?

AlixZare: If you could have a pet from CS in real life, what would it be?

DisabledLlama: Well I'd say a BMD but they actually do exist in the real world, so I'd choose either the Unickorn, Grey Malk Dragon, or Red X dog. AlixZare: What do you like about being a Guest Artist on Chicken Smoothie?

This month, something new, finally! Ricorn surprised us with 3 pretty bunnies. And not just bunnies, noooo, they are Jackalopes! One floppy eared and 2 pointy eared bunnies!

Let's dive into these bunnies for a bit.

The dark brown spotted jackalope is extremely cute and it seems to be the favorite of most people! My fav part about this little bunny is his tail, it's just so tiny and that little dot on there just makes him so cute!

The floppy jackalope. This is the only floppy of this litter but isn't he pretty? He kinda reminds me of the german floppy, which is just a precious little breed to have. This one my favorite, just because he reminds me of a bunny i used to own C: (And also amg that tail 8D!)

The tan jackalope. This is my least favorite but omg he's still super cute! i adore this bunny's nose, it just makes him look so adorable. It's interesting to see his coat pattern, all these different colors mixed together!

All and all this month was a great month for store pet owners!

The Halloween event on Chickensmoothie started on Saturday 20th October. My first reactions were: "Yay! The Halloween events started!" I went on to enter the draw, and start hunting for the banners.

Nick and Teas decided to hold a draw. The prizes where a massive goody bag of sweets, and C$(Chicken Dollars.) I thought the prizes for this were very good. I think the way that if you don't want the sweets, you can trade it in for C$. It's those little things in events that make people enjoy them. And Nick and Tess, if you're reading this, thank you for holding the event and draw.

Now, on to the banner. The banner is the same as in previous years, the black banner with green text and a witches coldren. I personally love this. The only thing I would change about this would be that if the banner could change every year. But, I know this would make Nick and Tess have more work to do, so its not a big thing, just a small little thing I would suggest to them if I got the chance. I would also say, make the time that you have to wait to get a another banner shorter. I would say this because I think its to long, and that if it was 10 minutes, people wouldn't get so annoyed about not finding a banner because of the waiting time.

Banner Review

I won't say much about this, as you'll want to know about the pets, no doubt.
Okay. I personally think the banners are quite good, as they stand out and aren't easy to miss. (Unless, like me, you get sidetracked and never make it to the bottom of the page)

Starting with my favourite, the pumpkin pie dog. I don't much like pumpkin pie, to be fair, but this dog just makes everything a bit sweeter. I love the dollop of cream which stands out on the plain pelt, which is textured nicely. Overall, I really like this dog.

The "Green Bone Dog", as it is unofficially known, has a gorgeous Celtic design. I love the braided tail and skull mask give it a fear factor the others dogs don't just have, and the knitted texture is a cute touch to balance it out. I don't have much to say about this pet, but I love it!

The PPS dog is a more complicated design, with the red mist and swirls of color. The skulls on the wings add a bit of Halloween feeling to the pet. The mist gives this otherwise cute pet a touch of menace.

The Moon Dog seems to be a favorite of everyone. It has a tree out of it back and was based on an old folk tale called The Moon by the Brothers Grimm. The moon is very illuminating and the colours are rich.

The tokens:

The bat token is adorable, and the cute chibi eyes and wings make me want to hug it. The pumpkins, are, well, pumpkins, and have been drawn very well for something so small. The lollipops are lovely and eye-catching, and, like said before, are very good for something so small.

The Ghost of the Banned Account Item was adorable and very cute. Seems everyone wants one. It was the only Item to come out of the Banner and nearly as hard to get as the Banner Dogs.

Free 2012 Halloween Pets and Items

Day 1

At last the Halloween event of 2012 started! We've waited days after days, because it started a few days later then it did last year. The first day started out great, There was a goodie bag to be adopted!

After adopting the goodie bag, I soon found out that my goodie bag had been different then the ones from my friends. Everybody got different items when adopting this bag. 4 different colorful lollies, 4 different types of mouths in two colors, 4 little kettles, a cup, 2 cookies, all sorts of horns and gummy dogs 8D and on top of that 4 different kinds of earrings.

The first free pets we could adopt turned out to be second gens. Parents being one of the 2011 Halloween devil dogs and a GUPPS dragon dog from Christmas. My favorite pup is the grey/red one but i have to say..this is a very interesting mix 8D Let’s hope they’ll show the brilliant features of the parents, wings and horns!

Day 2

The second day, and trading has already gone crazy. The Day 2 free gift box turned out to be pets designed by DisabledLlama. Adopt limit 3 but only 2 outcomes, a white dog and a fire dog! What i like most about these dogs is that they totally don’t fit together! Its nice to see something so opposite coming from the same box!

Day 3

Days fly by fast when you are having fun is what they say. Banner dogs are everywhere and hard to find at the moment, so it was very nice to get another free puppy. This pup is made by pitchblack and people are currently referring to them as glittercorn pups! Because they are glitter-y but remind people of candy corn! It has been absolutely lovely to see these puppies grow up tho C: They have such nice colors and the eyes, the pretty eyes! They glow!

Day 4

Today isn’t really an active day on the free gift side BUT we still got a small gift! Tea!!! We got 2 different tea items, 2 different cookies and a teacup 8D perfect for those pets who like their tea better then any other drink! I personally adore the teabag items, they are just adorable.

Day 5

Pumpkins 8D great! People are having so much fun with these! Check out the “Fun ways to use items thread!” to see some really great ones!

Day 6 and 7

Today, also only free items. On day 6 we recieved a gift with either a blue or a white set of candles. People are so creative with these candles xD On day 7, we got Toilet paper! So that we can TP all over CS! For those pets that you didn't really like, or the naughty ones! time to let them eat paper ahahhaa.

Day 8

Finally more pets! These ponies are what people call Kelpies! It was great to see them grow up to be 3 different kinds of kelpies 8D and those grins! Personally I adore these ponies, just for their smirking ways C: they make me smile whenever i see them 8D

Day 9

Dresses dresses dresssssessss! We got to adopt this gift 4 times and if you got really lucky, you got all 4 dresses! I myself wasn't so lucky, i got 2 dresses twice but on the swaps thread a swapped them in no time. My favorite is the pumpkin dress, it just works so greatly. The orange, the green. Any of you have tried putting it on the pumpkin pie dog yet? It looks amazing!

Day 10

As if TP’ing CS wasn’t enough! 8D we got eggs! Don’t like the pet you have? Well, just egg it now! I think these items are great xD they also go great with the store’s BBQ set. Imagine this; Your pretty pet, cooking with all those nice burger and sausage items, eggs all over his pretty face cause he’s quite the clumsy cook! 8D great!

Day 11

Oooooooooooh. I’ve been waiting for pets like these 8D Let’s start with the butterfly wolf. Mellow colors, it’s swirls and stripes match up greatly and it’s face is just pure beauty! Skull like markins, it’s possible the prettiest butterfly this halloween. The cat. This spicy little kitty has vampire teeth! I love the markings on his body, wing like 8D And those eyes! They are too die for!

The dogs. Oh god. The dogs. While one of these dogs was pretty easy to get (guess? 8D) the other was kinda hell. The glowy-eyed halloween dog was not only released less, it also had a great kinda of demand from the start. I ended up getting lucky and swapping a banner dog for him, but a lot of people pulled out their rareslist pets just to get him. I find their designs really super! Especially the little >| face on it’s chest xD It reminds me of a pumpkin 8D

Day 12 and with that, the final day of the event!

Today, we got to adopt 2 spiders, an orange one and a green one. When looking at them closer, you can see a faint glow in the back. But look at them even closer! And you’ll find a surprise. Their markings aren't just there for no reason, they are little monsters! Adorable!

Token Pets
Corrupt Judgement
This year, the CS artist team brought us a spooky assortment of pets to be earned with the banner tokens found through the Halloween banner. Ranging from pumpkin dogs, to wolves, to butterpillers on brooms, the pets this year were a true delight.

The biggest group of token pets this Halloween was dogs. The first dogs released were made by Leurai, and have markings resembling gourds, the more noticeable of the two having pumpkins. The pets were very cute and the designs were innovative. The second dogs released were a litter of what seems to be Voodoo dogs, also made by Leurai. The pups themselves were a sight to behold. The designs on the litter were sleek and I thought they matched the season perfectly. A touch of eeriness was placed on the litter through what appears to be stitches, keeping their mouths closed.

Later, we were presented with a swamp PPS by PitchBlack, and a dark green dog depicting typical Halloween scenes from Ricorn. Both of these dogs were charming, although in my opinion, the swamp PPS looked a little more like a decaying lily pad than a swap monster. The next day, many CSians are delighted to see EPPS bat puppies created by Bernouli on the swap page. One of my favorite designs this year, the puppies are not only cute, but very creative in my opinion. The final dogs released were a litter of PPS wolves also made by Leurai. As far as I could tell, they caused a very positive reaction from the CS community.

Other pets featured as token pets in the Halloween event included a litter of bats by Vampiric, a skeletal owl by Tyr, spooky equines by Tyr and Leurai, and costumed butterpillers by Sorren Fey. The bats, in my opinion, featured some of the most unique Halloween designs, I’ve seen in awhile. Each one was very different from normal Halloween designs and done very well. Tyr’s owl and ponies featured some spooky designs, and they’re soft shading is very pleasing to the eye. Leurai strikes again with a thorny litter of horses, each design unique, with colours that match the season perfectly. Last, but definitely not least, are Sorren Fey’s EPPS butterfly wolves, who are all costumed up and ready to go out for a night trick-or-treating.

Overall, all the token pets this year was amazing. Every one of them was unique in their own special way. The artists really outdid themselves this year, in my opinion, and I’m extremely excited to see what they’ll be bringing in the future.

As every Halloween on CS does, there were a great deal of new plushes, scenery sets, and costumes to make little ghouls and goblins of your pets! Cute, crazy, and creepy, everyone had a great deal of fun with this years token bought items, which, as always, haven’t ceased to impress us all. Now, some items came as surprises to us all, but let’s look at their releases in order, shall we?

Day one of the hunt saw many people scrambling for their token banners with the release of two costumes. The ‘Oni’ costume consisted of a creepy mask; a tiger printed and ragged costume top and bottom, and an Oni kabano (a form of spiked bat carried by the monster traditionally). It was a fun costume idea, but its demand and trade in rate seemed to remain average through the event duration. AS quoted from one member who was fond of the costume;

As well as this, there was a free witch costume released to the CS world with a cute accent. It consisted of a black and purple dress, mini hat, little cauldron, and mouth and ground spoons. Many people found the cauldrons and cute dresses a great addition to the item collection, finding many inventive ways to create their own brews in the cauldrons and layer the clothes. What’s interesting, though, is CS already had a witch set (still available in the store costumes and special sets), ready to buy for 20 C$. It includes a hat, black and white stockings, cloak, and bubbling cauldron. But, who doesn’t like variety, and who doesn’t like something cuter and easier to get than the store costume? This item was pretty well demanded, but it became a more common purchase with tokens so runs average supply and demand. At least now we can choose between two different sets to our tastes.

Day two of the hunt saw the annual creepy contact release. As in prior years, a set of different styled colored contacts was released. In 10 it was the store monster eyes, 11 the slanted eyes, and now in 12 what I will call the crazy eyes set. It consists of four colors and styles; the smoky red, wild green, yellow snake eye, and eerie black contacts. As usual, they were a big hit on the site, in decent demand so people could manipulate eye color of pets at ease and have it look real. As one member said;

Day three gave us yet another store set (costing 18 C$ in costumes and special sets) in a male and female variation. More specifically, the vampire set. Instead of just a cape and fangs, you got a suit, fangs, and wig for males, and a dress, hat, wig, and fangs for females. Not only this, but to everyone's delights, they refitted to PPS and puppies, the dress changing from a blood red to a deep green hue and the hat becoming a cute bat bow. A cute, easy way to make any dog into the year’s bloodsucking companion, cheaper and more common than the store variety, yet more to them and much more fancied.

Day five gave CS a new set of scenery to play with and make new inventive dress ups to show off. CS was set for fleas and frustrations with this new arrival, containing a cute rat, a bunch of fleas flying, a hilarious facial expression that re-fits to various pets on the site, and an ‘ITCHY!!’ speech bubble. It went down as a hit, the fleas enabling many spunky ideas to become real though they were simply made, and the facial expression giving delight to many pet owners who wanted a distressed face for their pet. Many dress ups of various kinds spawned from just this set, making it highly demanded and a must among the fashion fanatics of CS.

Another costume set wasn’t released until day eight of the hunt. Another gender styled costume set, there was both a Viking boy and girl costume released. The boys included a Viking suit, studded helmet, and buckler, and the girls a Viking dress, braided hair helmet, and hammer. As predictable, the sets caused a huge sweep of excitement for the Avengers fans of the site, as the hammer was perfect for Thor. Like the vampire set counterpart, both sets refitted to PPS and pups. Still fancied in dress ups and very cute, the suits still have a little above average trade demand, but it’s dying with time. It’s more the accessories which caused the buzz, but together the set is magnificent.

Day nine of the hunt gave us another creative costume to use in our spooky trick-or-treaters, a witch doctor costume that blew away many members. The ornamental ritualistic set contains a feathered skull mask, leather tail and arm bands with feathers, and boney necklace. The set began another small domino trail of love, especially for the bands to add to pets. It had a decent demand when released, but it fell to about a similar rate of many of the other costumes. Though it’s more accent pieces than anything, it’s still a beautiful piece to be desired by any tribal or mystic lovers.

The very last day of the Halloween event gave us several goodbye item sets to trade tokens for. The first, a fine sky effect set, contains a small crescent moon, a set of ominous clouds, and a swarm of bats to set the scene for any horror or candy searcher. The next contained two tiny little bat plushes and a sitting skeleton buddy for our pets to keep them company. Finally, as usual for the Halloween event, we got two adorable bat plushes to cuddle that look just like other bats released. The Baphet bat plush has its own touch of horns and a scythe, and the other has an eerie blue-white glow like its living counterpart the Wisp bat (of the two bat plushes, the Wisp was more popular by random sample survey).

Halloween as always never disappointed. Costumes, scenery, and jokes galore ran free from the staff to the CS community, and they are not to be forgotten easily. I personally find the event, as always, mind blowing and thrilling as to new releases, and particularly adored the wolf PPS’s, but the costumes were phenomenal! There’s still time for the candy hunt and token trades, because of Hurricane Sandy, but let’s hope that the storm won’t affect our fellows in it’s way terribly and they can still enjoy the CS life and last days of the hunt!

CalicoWolf: What is this pet special to you?

ᴄᴀʟᴇsᴛɪɪ: This pet is special to me because it looks like my little kitten in real life that died a few days ago. The lineart of those cats match her perfectly, fluffy and fat.
CalicoWolf: What gave you the idea for this dress up?

ᴄᴀʟᴇsᴛɪɪ: I was on Skype with Lerumei on CS here and I was going on about lights on/off, not being able to decide what to dress her up. At first she was a jester, then an angel but then the idea of slenderman popped up and I was like, "Let`s do it!" So thus, slender kitty jester!

It also uses one of the event pets, the slime PPS.
Secondly, it has a Halloween feel to it. It reminds me of one of those tales or movies where there is a killer ghost or spirit on the loose, haunting trick-or-treaters.
Finally, it is something that hasn't been done as far as I have seen, and the public would be delighted to see it.

A plant character is very unique, what inspired it?

Autumn's Tiger: I was together with a friend in a big store where they sell all kinds of plants. I always liked bonsai trees, since I'm a fan of the Asian culture and plants in general. In the store I decided to buy a little bonsai tree, which I then called Herbert. I liked him already right at the beginning, and the I somehow got the idea to make a character out of him. I mean.. why not? It's something completely different ^__^
What inspired his looks? Quirks?

Autumn's Tiger: I tried to make him look like the real Herbert. I gave him his blue-turquoise bowl and the form of the branches. I just added a little face on the drawings, since that makes him look more like a character.
What's his personality?

Autumn's Tiger: Herbert is a happy little bonsai tree. He has always a good mood and loves to help his friends. But when he does not get enough attention he gets sulky, and starts to loose his leaves. His biggest wish is to become popular - a real superstar, you know?
Anything particular you like about him?

Autumn's Tiger: I like the fact that he's quite small and cute. It's possible to transfer a lot of features of the real plant to the virtual charatcer Herbert.
Anything else we need or should know about Herbert??

Autumn's Tiger: Herbert is currently looking for a plant-girlfriend. It does not have to be a bonsai tree, he thinks that especially smaller plants are pretty. If anybody owns a plant-character, too, Herbert would be happy to get to know her :3

How did you come up with her design?

This is a drawing I made of some of her earlier versions.

How did they come about and to represent you?

Spotty: 3.Well, I don't really think that there is any specific way that the design represents me, except for a few details. That would for example be the tattoo on her shoulder, and the general spottyness of her species. But Spot is more like a kind of a mental representation of myself in a way that's hard to put into words, not really related to the design. However, all in all, since I use Spot as my face outwards I guess that both me and others think of me as Spot and associate her design with my person.
Do you have anything else to add?

Spotty: 4.Add? No, I don't think so, other than that I'm very honoured that you would pick my Spot for a feature^^'.

CalicoWolf: How did the story/theme come about?

•Cyr•: Well, I got the idea pretty much from Princess Luna + Celestia from MLP. :> The pet designs just looked stunning in the items I had, and reminded me of two certain other characters. Since Celestia raises the sun, and Luna the moon. Everyone sleeps at night, so of course the moon sister would feel sort of hurt.
CalicoWolf: Why did you pick those particular pets?

•Cyr•: The staff dog looked whimsical and celestial, so I figured that she might as well be the sun, and the moon dog is self explanatory. xD

CalicoWolf: What encouraged you to make an art shopAdoptable species?

DaDwarf: Im not really into adoptables myself, since i enjoy drawing and designing way too much to take something from someone else xD But, since i do enjoy making my own designs and doodles, i figured i might as well make others happy. And so i made up my chewies :3

CalicoWolf: Is there any story or description that goes with the drawing?

Vampiric: The story within the image in itself is that the older brother (Darian) is forced to take out the little sister (Kelsey) on Halloween, to go trick or treating, even though he has plans to hook up with someone later that evening (probably for a Halloween party), so he's keen to get on with this and get her back home so he can sneak back out. Unfortunately, Kelsey is not a very well-behaved child and causes some trouble at one (or possibly more, perhaps) of the houses, so he decides enough is enough and hauls her back home, much to her dismay. They exchange some idle threats but they really care about one another deep down, i'm sure.
CalicoWolf: What inspired the drawing?

Vampiric: The banner pets that are in the picture inspired the drawing. I love the designs (Moonbackdog and TigerskullPPS, as I call them) and I hope I can obtain the both of them before I hit my banner cap so I can name them appropriately to follow my picture. Usually when I draw pictures of this nature (humanised with traits) I pick the pets, then dress them if necessary, then work out what I want them doing, and then the story usually comes to me before I draw entirely.
CalicoWolf: Anything else?

Vampiric: I drew this while on a join.me, so some people were around to watch. I still can't believe it took me nearly 7 hours = = where did the time go? Sigh. Also figured out how to, and finally did then, my first vertical oekaki, it's neat. I love the new oekaki tools.

Our annual all-staff litter! This year with contributions from: Shadow, Bernouli, Leurai, Ricorn, Tiikeria, Hekomi, moonlily, Fiery Gatoh, Sorren Fey, Pluma, Spotty, Orchid Sprig, Clowesia, Selcouth, Vampiric, Satamoru, Solloby, Tyr, Drizzle, Captain Kaycee, PitchBlack, Tragedae, and our retired staff member Moonflight!
Usually every month we do a review on the newborns, but with this months Staff Litter, I'm decided something a little different. I'm getting 23 different people to do their own little opinion on one each of the staff pets, but I' also asked what inspired each individual artist to create their own part. Not all Staff answered, but the ones that did, Please enjoy!

I guess I was just going for a sleek version of the dog lines, since it seemed we had never really had a really sleek dog. The original idea was for him to be some kind of elemental wizard, but, I liked him best before the "magic" was added, so, I figured I would just go with a weary traveller/warrior.

As for what was the most fun? Definitely the design. Working with such a gorgeous color palate this year and having to create a design that could meet the expectations of CS users. The line edits were another fun, yet frustrating, part of the creation of "The Wanderer." There were so many different versions of his lines, before I finally settled on the one that we now see. Adding the cloak and the stick came next, and, finally, the arm bands.

I'm just really happy that a lot of people seem to really like my pup; it was a great reward for all the hard work put into it. It's worth it to see everyone enjoying it so much.

The extremely plain pup is supposed to signify just being a normal sort of kid. However, when the puppy grows up and he becomes resentful and jealous, the ice starts creeping in and begins to consume him. The strange markings on his legs, back and eye are supposed to represent being a magic user, though the fact that they are filled with blue again shows how he has become corrupted.
Basically, blue = turning to the dark side. No prizes for figuring out why xD

The dog went through multiple colour variations before I decided on the one I was going with. The markings are loosely inspired by a tree. I wanted a fantasy feel to it, I hope I have achieved that. Designing pets in general is a lot of fun for me, but the line edits take the cake! I love love love doing line edits, and the staff litter is one litter that lets us go wild.

People usually see gryphons as big bulky hefty things, so I wanted to make mine a little more delicate. I gave it a smaller beak after my previous gryphon persona, and a big honkin beak just didn't look right to me. I always like to try to give users an option, and the smaller beak also allows them to cover it up with the larger store beak if they wanted. I know that the pose makes it a challenge to dress up, but everyone is so creative, that I have no doubt that users will find interesting ways to adorn their gryphons--I can't wait to see them!

I wanted to use the browns somewhere, and then I had the inspiration to do socks on the forelegs. They looked out of place, so I added the tail band. The moon on the forehead was really the only 'planned' part of this dog. I love crescent moons on things, so I wanted it somewhere. Since I added a moon and the neck looked bare, I added a star necklace with it. My dog is really just chance and personal taste. xD The fluffy tail is because I almost did a 3-tailed dog, but I also was thinking about trying to do an edit. Then I realized I could use preexisting lines to make an edit, and that is how that happened. The most fun thing was probably making the tail band honestly. It was fairly easy and came out looking just how I wanted it to.

The most fun I had was with the hair. As everyone knows I am quite partial to wig making, but I wanted something more blended into the dog as though it was actually her hair, and something non-symmetrical.. something that was a little more unique and had just a hint of dated-ness to it.

These little guys are really adorable and were made by Ricorn. The halo of light they seem to emit is reminiscent of the light of a star. And their blanket covered in cloud makes me think that these little guys have a kinship with the sky ... The question arises whether these kittens will grow wings to take off or will they simply represent the sky, like the Storm Litter from September 2011? It would be really fun to have cats with a sun at the end of their tail or a cloud above their head ... I wonder what they will become! ^^

hose cat are so funny. Awake, tired and sleeping Cat are some awesome line edit. While I did think it was a "time of the day" litter, the artist confirmed it has nothing to do with it ... Is it a hint that Ricorn is sleepy? xd Who know? But for me, it made my bed scream "come to meeee" ... So *yawn* I'm sleepy. If i must separate the little in 3, it'll go like this :
The awake cat (sky blue and yellow one). It's a dawn cat, with a pretty clouds on its tail. This little guy (girl ?) seems to just be barely awake. Perhaps the impression is coming from the color, but it just gives this feeling of "ruffling" you got when you just got out of bed ...

The sleeping cat (dark blue cat with sleepy eyes). It's the design from the kitty in grow up. The sky is nightly and full of star ... Here, the tail was almost erased, the effect being of a "tail of clouds. On the front pawn they are less cloud that on the awake cat, perhaps it's due to the night ? Who know the whims of an artist... Poor guy give me the impression of being dead tired, and wanting only to get to its bed ...

Oh mah ! it's a thunder cat! It's got freaking lightening on it!! I'm in love! I can hear it, I can smell the storm in the night! It's just precious. And there is no tail on this one, it was eaten away by the black cloud ! Somehow this kitty cat seems surprised, no ? Did it hear a thunder and it made him jump out of surprise ? ^^ Well, risking saying one more time the same thing : l. love. it ! ♥

I must say this litter is one of the best one i did see this year. Just saying Ricorn did some awesome job here. With the expression come the little "cumulus" that's sooo pretty ! It's the killing detail !

This butterfly wolf’s caterpillar form is adorable. The blue’s in this set is gorgeous, especially the royal blue, one thing I saw is that the small red dots on it were not on one of the adult forms, yet both adults did have some red in them, but only one with the dots. And the white stripes were not incorporated either making the outcomes of this surprising.

The first design in this set is beautiful with its royal blue colours and the see-through wings. The design reminds me of the galaxy dogs, like Ricorn took the colours from the galaxies and put them on these butterfly wolves which I really like because I love the galaxy dogs and was wondering when they would use the galaxy idea again. I love the blue and red colours together because they go very well together and are very warm colours.
This is the one with the red dots, like the caterpillar form, there is more light blue in this outcome than the other, yet they still have the same wings, and also have some blue dots which the caterpillar form did not have, the orange on the paws of this butterfly wolf are very cool, this one still reminds me of a galaxy because of the colours and the slight shiny look of it, almost like it is a statue.

I really like the 1st stage of this butterfly wolf set. It’s really cheery looking, and this is one of the first times we’ve seen neon colours incorporated into a butterfly wolf- which is pretty cool. I feel like it makes sense to be a November outcome because it cheers us up. Even Though people may say November is one of the dreariest seasons, how could you not be cheered up seeing the bright colours on a snowy, cold day in November while you are curled up by your fireplace?

The first outcome of this litter is interesting and very different from its other kin. I love that the blue colours are not as vibrant as the other two outcomes. It’s not as focused on the neon colours like the others, which I really like. There are also more stripes in this outcome, which is something that all 3 of the outcomes share. When looking at the wings, it reminds me of the 2nd outcome’s colours on its coat. The orange colours on the front part of the butterfly wolf looks like armor which I find really creative.
This butterfly wolf is absolutely amazing. The colours are vibrant, eye-catching and there are neon colours, but they still incorporated some fall colours- giving it a ‘fall’ feel . The purple and green wings are really neat with the sparkle-looking element . I like how they utilized stripes within the tail and neck of the wolf, and even some on the face give more edge to the design. If the stripes had not been there, it probably would have been more of a softer design, which I feel to be more of a late winter\early spring mix. When looking at the wings, they remind me of the 1st outcome.
What I like about the third outcome of the November butterfly wolf set is that this one looks like they took the colours in the 1st outcome and 2nd outcome and mixed the colours to create this pattern. It’s like it’s kin in colour, but incorporates more enhanced colours and pattern. It brings its own uniqueness to end off the Nov. set with a surprising turn, which is something that I don’t think we saw coming. It made the month’s set even better, and I’m sure will be very popular for a long time to come.

Horses

Fascinating choice of colors by Tyr. All of the shades look really nice together. I like the little spots of white on the pale purple too. They look gentle and not sharp or gaudy at all. I also like how the hooves and mane stand out, a detail so often forgotten in the horses and ponies. A lot of thought was put into this design, and, no doubt, into the adult designs that we’ll see later.

Though nothing unexpected came out of this set of horses, I’m feeling far from disappointed. Each horse shares a similar color scheme, which looks fabulous on every outcome. The stand out mane and hooves, while not contrasting with the main body, look great and make a big difference. The patterns are so artistic on each and every horse, and I can tell how much effort was put into this bunch. Good job, Tyr!

Ponies

Ah! Line edits! A rare treat with ponies. I’m really glad that Leurai pulled these ones off so well. They could be a number of things, deer, sheep or goats are just a few guesses. I absolutely adore the soft, natural shades of brown, with enough detail to be interesting and pleasing to look at. Whats this? An extreme PPS? This was a unique surprise for everyone who found that they adopted a baby snow-white foal! While the PPS doesn’t seem to be very rare, it was nonetheless exciting for every pony lover! As for the little brown foals, I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for these cuties to grow and reveal their secrets.

What cute goats! I’d just like to say thank you to the artist for such fantastic ponies! The eyes are a small, but very noticeable edit and look fantastic! I love how each eye color stands out from the main body of the pet. The curled horns look great, and also have contrasting colors, and the short tails look refreshingly different from the usual pony tails. The shades of fur on the bodies looks as great as in the baby stage, and each goat has their own different pattern. What a fantastic month for ponies it’s been!

Toys for dogs? These little rats have a plastic effect that only miss the "squeak" that make these toys when dogs or cats’ teeth close on it ... If I had to make a prediction, I'd say it will be either plastic rat or rats in leather suit xD ... Well, it’s just my thought ^ ^

Well, the babies were plain (and my awesome prediction was soooo off ! T-T) but the adults are not so plain anymore. Those subtle color "magnetic" are really nice. Give a "colored grunge" effect that is good for the eyes. Personally not one of my favorite rat, but some people seem to love it, by what I gathered on the November Discussion Thread. If I must choose a favorite, I will say the orange one because the explosion is the nicest on this one.

I'm a huge fan of spiders and I have to say, I will miss them! I hope this litter will be a good litter. The colours/theme already look amazing together. I love the Purple/Blue hues...

Both outcomes are beautiful! Ricorn said that the spiders were based off of circus tents, which I don't quite see, but I've never been to a real circus... I love the blue, green and pink colours. If these really are the last spiders, they are very nice and as I said earlier, I will really miss them.

This pair were bred by Leurai !

This month's litter has 4 outcomes in the litter. Two of the babies look very similar to each other but one has stripes of the blanket. On each the blankets you see fading colors, spots, and the o with the strike through it on there. These pups seem to have a good mix between both parents and will make some amazing dogs.

All the Pups have become dogs and they are absolutely exquisite. The dogs either have a brown or grey base and each has some kind of jewelry. Each dog has spots scattered across it's back and most have them on their ankles. The first two outcomes seem to resemble the pink salmon parent more than the null bobtail. I was surprised to see the PPS was the only one with Ø in it's design. Each dog has its front legs a different color then the base color and all the dogs have bobbed tails except for the second outcome. Over all they are a nice mix of both. The artist Leurai did a great job at taking both these dogs designs and putting them together with these pets. The way she fades together the colors and the layering of the radiant reds, oranges, and yellows on dull grays and browns. Chicken Smoothie has a new litter to be proud of and Laurai's effort really shows through in this litter.

The grow-able horses of Chicken Smoothie were first created July of 2009. This horse looks like a regular horse that you'd see on a farm/ranch the only thing that you might not see on a horse is a multicolored tail, mane and greenish eyes. These horses are much different than the ones that we have now. This horse isn't a special themed kind just a regular every month pet. This type of horse went 'extinct' November of 2010. The new type of horse was created December of 2010. The first litter was created by Yulnyh. The new type of horse look like a horse or colt prancing around a field after winning a fight or something.

Various artists colour the horses now. Though it doesn't matter who draws or colours the horse because we still appreciate there help and the horses are still well done. Hopefully we'll see a bunch of new horses in the near future.

Moonlily: Actually, I've found it incredibly difficult to actually find the time to really play anymore. I used to stalk the trading threads and auctions, and was a pretty active and savvy trader. Since becoming a mod, though, when I do have the time to be on CS, I feel the need to spend my time contributing to the mod workload, and there's just never enough time left over to really focus on trading or playing. It can be frustrating at time, but I definitely don't regret taking on the position.

Well, that was certainly an eventful Halloween event. We got some pretty nice items out of it, and a lot of them aren't even heavily Halloween centralized (which you should know I love by this point). Okay, we have a lot of items to get through this time around-- and here we go. Also, please note: I am going through these items as they appear in the Halloween item listing when decorating a pets, not by the release dates.

Tokens
I'd provide a picture, but there's already going to be a lot of space taken up here, and we all know what they look like. A tiny bat, a tiny pumpkin, and an orange lollipop. There isn't really anything special about these tokens, they're

small items that function as currency. normally I would say they could function as candy, but only the lollipop really pertains to that. Again, the tokens are basic, nothing too special

or terrible.

Bat Plushies
The blue aura bat is cute, as is the reaper, but I really wish there had been outcomes of these for each of the bat outcomes. These were the last items i picked up from the event, and it was only because I had everything else already. They're really nothing special, in my honest opinion.

Viking Sets
Here we received a viking coat or dress, a female or male helmet, and a shield or a hammer. Let's face it, if you got the one set, your most likely got the other. They're either female

or male centralized depending on which set you got. Personally, the highlight of this set is definitely the coat/dress. Really, these fur outfits are great-- and I got a few sets of each version simply for the coats. The helmets tend to fall a bit flat; they're fitting on a pet is rather awkward, and the hair always seemed too dimensional, making the standard pet's facial features appear rather flattened. The (ban)hammer is nice, but it seems a bit clunky when placed in the jaw as it is supposed to go, even for a hammer. The shield is nice, but it suffers from the same shading/dimensional problems as I mentioned with the helmets.

Vampire Sets
The store vampire set still provided a better look.
I know, I know-- people like this set, mostly the female one, but it's true. The male vampire outfit looks rather awkward on a pet and both fang sets give more of the impression of an old man than of a bloodsucker. It's the size of the fangs-- they're just too small. The female's dress is nice, though, and the hair/fan combination provides a nice look overall. It's the male version that drags this set down, it just doesn't look proper for a vampire, more like a posh count. Plus, the male wig just looks terrible.

Fleas

All I can think of here is the Black Plague. Seriously, that is it. And since I don't find that very funny... I'm just not fond of this set. There isn't really much use for it unless you use the items as a full set. Plus, the rat is just a bit cute, not much. My feeling

s are short for this one.

Sky Set
This is by far my favorite out of the entire event items bunch. I'm not even kidding when I tell you all that I got nine sets of this. The clouds look amazing, the bats are a nice alternative to the separate bats from the past year, the moon is small but very lovely with that glow... it's just a great set. Really, this set seems like it's a the same level of quality as the lunar set in the store-- just with a smaller moon and no jewelry. This set can be used year round-- and I hope to see even more amazing dress-ups with it into the far future. The highlight of the event items, bar none.

Eggs and Toilet Paper
Vandalism isn't cool, man. No more to say for these Devil's Night item sets.

Witch Doctor
I actually like this set. Despite what I thought when I first got it-- the skull headset actually fits very nicely on dogs-- and a lot of other pets for that matter. The bands for both legs and tail fit very snugly and can be used on other pets as well with creativity. The skull necklace does look a bit awkward due to its shading, but that's only minor compared to some other shading issues on latter items. A simple set from early on, but it gets an A.

Eyes
Finally, some new eye edits. What did we get? Eerie black, snake eyes, crazed green, high red...
Oh, only I refer to that color as "high" red. Nevermind.

Overall, I'm not as big of a fan of these eyes as I am still of the slanted eyes from last year. These sets are just harder to match with dogs-- and only the black and green can really blend in properly with anything. They're nice, but they do fall short in comparison to the slanted eyes of last year (which also came in a much wider variety of colors).

Ivy and Pu

The ivy seems more of a summer thing, or is that just me? Whatever the case, I really do like the ivy, and the bulk amount I have on them now is proof enough of that. The vines are very nice little touches for various scenes (try pairing them with the gravestones from a past year, it looks great). The pumpkins? Eh... I like them somewhat, but it looks like someone sucker punched the "twisted" one.

Enyo Note: As I've been writing this my Celtic dog has slowly been covered in everything-- hits with eggs, a pumpkin on their foot, "high" eyes... she's a mess, the poor thing.

Dress and Accessories.
They don't look right. The outlines o

n the socks are just too thick, and the way the dresses are both outlines and shaded makes them stand out way too much on a pet. They look awful whenever I try to use them-- it looks like my dog has a sticker of a dress across half of its body. The collars look somewhat normal but that's only because they're smaller and less pronounced. The pins do, however, look nice-- but they're the only redeeming feature of this set.

Witch Set
The shadow on the hat looks awkward-- that accompanied with the shape of the dress makes me dislike this set. The set from the store is better-- just like with the vampire set previously mentioned.

Omi Set
Eh. It's okay. Again, we end with nothing that spectacular. I noticed that a lot of people liked this item set when the event first started-- but I never see it used anymore. The only upside is that my pets now have a club to threaten their enemies with. Oh, and that red mark on the mask? It looks awful and doesn't flow with the rest of the set. Just throwing that out there. [Note: Omi set is not pictured due to the absolute size of the images.]

Did you get your CS black Friday shopping on? Tess, our wonderful administrator, opened up shop on Friday to us mad men (and women) who wanted some Chicken Smoothie goodies for the holidays. Unfortunately, they were not prepared for all the sales and suddenly, everything was out of stock. Sounds like Walmart to me! Featuring key chains to buttons, this was the best CS shop we have ever seen. We went and asked some of our fellow Chickensmoothians on their opinions of the shop.

This way the fans of chickensmoothie gets merchandise at a fair price, and the website earns more money, the more money the site has, the better the site can be. From keychains to stickers, and items being sold out within the day, I feel it's highly successful. Personally, I can't wait for plushies, I might need to order one. ;o; I also love the idea of giveaways, as not all members of chickensmoothie can afford the items. But I do think we need a wider variety of merchandise, such as squiddy hats, and totoro plushies. That would be the most adorable thing ever. <3
