Roll says... 4: Cat below.
You look down at the cat again, tilting your head. Maybe you can make good use of this weather and fool him into bringing you right where you want to go.
You move quickly and precariously, jumping onto windowsills and stair flights to get down. In your haste, you almost fall a few times, but you never slow down. You're back on the ground within a minute.
You wait around a corner for a moment, watching the tom. He's a lean tabby, not very tall, and so dark that he's almost black. You can feel that he's not much older than you, and he seems unbothered by the rain. Is he looking for something, or is he just pacing back and forth for kicks?
You breathe, lower your head, and walk around the corner, purposefully kicking a puddle a little.
The tom turns around. "Someone here-? Oh."
You lift your head just a little and look at him.
"Hey, I don't bite," he says cheerfully, and starts to walk off. "Come on. How on earth did you get away from the nursery?"
You lower your head again and follow him.
"Well, you don't have to say, I guess." He chuckles. "The air-ducts, right? I went through those a lot when I was little."
Your ears twitch (still, stay still you idiot).
"You must be freezing," he says after a while. "Bet you'll change your mind about sneaking out in the rain again, eh?"
"Mm-hmm." You thank Mercy above for how weirdly high the grunt comes out.
The tom turns his head just a little to grin at you. "Let's hurry up and get you back, then."
He quickens the pace. You take care to walk a little awkwardly, imitating a young cat's stroll. You look foolish (stupid, real stupid), but it works.
Only a minute or so passes before he brings you up to the third, largest building. You don't look at the group of guards, even as one stops the two of you.
"Where'd you find this one, Ash?" he says.
"Wandering around near the flower shop," Ash says. "We're both soaked through."
"Well, you can go dry out over there," the guard says, offering him a wry smile. "I'll bring in the kid."
"Ah, forget you," Ash says, waving his tail downwards. "See you when you're older, kiddo."
It takes every ounce of control to keep from digging your claws into the dirt (not kiddo he was kiddo kiddo's his name don't EVER call me). You meekly follow the guard. In the dense rain, it's nearly impossible for him to smell you, or even really get a good look at you.
He brings you to the front door and only waits for you to step through before leaving, saying, "Get back to your mother." As soon as he leaves, you stick to the wall, find the stairs, and sit underneath them, scoping out the situation as you roll on the carpet to dry off.
There's five or six mollies walking around in the lobby, all of them headed somewhere, some with a pack of tiny kittens chasing them. It's hard to see from here, but of the few doors you can see on either side, only one or two are open. You can hear voices from both, as well as from above you. Wherever you look first, you need to be quick, quiet, and stealthy. Any molly may scent you and alert the guards.
