I do have a reason for threatening him! The lack of scars indicates to me that this cat doesn't like to get into fights. I could see him as someone who backs down regularly.

As it's likely another option will be drawn can I know what would have happened if mine was?

That's an interesting observation .kestral! I ended up saying "offer to share" just because of the way the tom carries himself. He has his tail high - so that may suggest that he's not the kind of person to back down, but, like you said, he might not like to get into fights and he seems calm, so I assumed he might be more reasonable.
