((last but not least. *falls on the ground and starts to cry.* Its been a great run, but its ending.))
Satisfaction ((Last segment))Or so we thought, just then the Argoth stood up very slowly and looked at us. Our expressions went from joy to horrified in one second. I guess the giant stick through his body wasn't good enough. I did some quick thinking and took the stick and pulled it out of his body. He howled in pain and fell to the ground, dying of bloodloss. I poked him with the stick to make sure he was gone for good, he was. We fell down on our backs and breathed heavily, now it and he was finished. Then, I sat up and looked over at where Cleo... well...yea. I start to cry, I stand up and pick up her sweatshirt and wash it off into a little stream nearby. Mike stands up and pats the sweatshirt."You were a good friend." He says to it.
"We'll miss you." I say sorta hugging it. It was weird, but I didnt care. She was our best friend, and she was gone...forever. We walked out of the woods, silently and slowly. When we almost got to the road Mike stopped, turned around, and bolted into the woods. Then coming back with his brothers shirt. Then, we head out to the road and there was three police cars, six police men, the group of kids, Mikes mom, Cleos mom, my grandmother, and a criminal investigator with the tape that we put on my door to keep others out from seeing my mom. We stop in our tracks, I hold Cleos sweatshirt down y my side, and Mike with Johns shirt. Then the criminal investigator walks up to us and hold out this hand.
"C'mere, lemme see 'em." He says to us. We hold out our hands and give him the shirt and sweatshirt. I saw out of the corner of my eye that Cleos and Mikes moms were bursting out in tears. I felt really bad for them, lost their beloved children. I wanted to go over and talk to them, but the investigator wanted to ask us some questions. He asked typical questions like,
what happened? What did it look like? Where is it now? We ansewerd them truly, but he thought different. He asked us to show him where we "killed" the Argoth. So, we brought him to the scene of the...lets say attack. But we were stunned to see what we found.
There was his brother, Cleos...blood, and the Argoth's blood. But the actual Argoth wasnt there. We looked around to see where it might of went, maybe shifted by the wind. The investigator laughed at us telling us we were joking but then we showed him Mikes brother and Cleo. He was shocked."You...wern't kidding, were you." He said to us. We shook our heads.
"No sir." Mike said to him with a sad face."Do you think that we would be joking at such a serious situation?" He said sternly. The inspector shook his head rapidly.
He cleared his throat."Lets go shall we?" He asks. We nodd our heads slighly. When we reach the road Mikes mother runs up to him holding little Johns shirt. She flung her arms around him and he did the same. Then Cleo's mom walked up to me and looked at me with a sad face.
"I-I'm so sorry." I said to her. "Sh-she w-was a g-gr-great friend." I said to her, my eyes watering and my voice cracking. Then, her mom walks up a little further and puts her arms around me. Then after Mike and his mom are finished she walks up to Mike and hugs him too. Then she walks to her car and talks to a man who I didn't notice before, it was a funeral worker. She wa arrangins the proper berial of Cleo and John. Well...their clothing.
Mike and I were sitting on the hill, talking. "So...where do you think he is now?" Mike asks me.
"I dont know, I dont really care. All I know is that he's dead." I say to him
"But he dissapeared when we came back." He said to me worried.
"His dead carcass will show up someday, don't worry. We checked and he was dead. You need blood in your body to survive." I say to him, trying to calm him.
"Yea...I guess you're right." He says resting his back on the hill. Then we heard a car horn and knew it was time to go.
The funeral was sad and depressing, We stood there in the cemetary wathing Cleo's sweatshirt get put into a casket and lowered down into the hole. Same with little John's shirt. We put flowers on Cleo and John's grave, sadly. We cried and gave them our words. Then we read the toumbstone. I read it out loud.
