Roll says... 7: Ask questions.
"Okay," you say hesitantly. "Any and all questions?"
"Yep!" the molly says. "Nothing's off the table."
You take a breath. "Where am I? What is this place? Who and what are you? Why are there patrols here? Who are the 'brutes' that bint was talking about? Where were they taking my friend? What are you going to do with me? Where are we going? And what kind of name is Blitzkrieg? What does that even mean?!"
Five seconds of silence pass.
"You done?" the molly asks.
"I'm done," you say.
"Alright, cool." She looks at the cat to your right. "Cloud, you wanna switch spots?"
"Sure." He trots ahead, while she falls back to walk beside you.
"You're in the Corps," she begins. "And frankly, that's the answer to almost all of your questions, but I'll expatiate a little. This city is called Moores, and we're fighting against another group. We've got control of the eastern part of town. These patrols are part of our continued efforts to keep it that way, and maybe swing this war in our favor. And Blitzkrieg...well, do you want to explain it to him?"
The leader of the patrol turns her head just enough to see you out of the corner of her eye. She has a smile that sharply reminds you of Charlie. "I think he'll get it pretty soon."
"What about my friend?" you say. "Where are they taking her?"
The group's energy goes from relaxed to tense in a millisecond. The dark brown molly looks away. The patched tom coughs uncomfortably.
"I wouldn't worry about it," Blitzkrieg says quietly. "You're never going to see her again, anyway."
"What?" You halt, bristling. "What's going to happen to her?!"
Blitzkrieg sighs. "Gabber, take the front."
The dark brown molly gulps and jogs ahead. So does the rest of the group. Blitkrieg stops until you've reached her, then holds out her tail for you to stop. She speaks once the group is a safe distance away.
"The other side, the one who controls the western part of Moores..." She turns her head to look you right in the eyes. You can see the faintest shadow of...something. "They have a tendency to take girls from here and from any tourists in the area. The probability is, your friend is going to be...held in common."
You feel sick, just from the words. "I-I don't know what that means."
"Yes, you do." The shadow forms into a patient tiredness.
"No, I..." Every hair on your back lifts up, starting from your tail and crawling up like an insect to your neck. "They can't do anything to her. She's too young."
"Do you think that matters to them?" Blitzkrieg's voice is soft and gentle, like she's explaining to a kit why their mother isn't coming home.
You open your mouth to protest, to shout, anything, but she moves a paw towards you and leans in a little. Her gaze shuts you up before you can make a single sound.
"Listen carefully," she says, voice still low and calm. "Whether you like it or not, she's with them now. There's nothing you can do about that. The best course of action for you, at this moment in time, is to come with us and keep your mouth shut. I know-" She catches you starting to protest again. "I know how this is. Trust me, I've been there. Just do as we tell you, and everything will be fine. Can you do that?"
I can do that.
Are you joking?
Thimble...
What's next, then?
