I have an unfortunate announcement. I've decided to officially cancel Warrior Cats: Choose Your Own Adventure 2.
For the past few weeks I've been on and off on posting in the CYOA, which is no fault of anyone's but my own. Over that time, I'm sure that interest has waned due to my own inconsistent updates, and I have been constantly apologizing for that, which, let's be honest, has grown less meaningful the more times I say it.
I'd like to apologize a final time with the fullest sincerity I can offer. I'm sorry that you new readers who have been waiting for the chance to play in a CYOA are being let down, and that my own actions resulted in a loss of the energy and enthusiasm that I've been very lucky to share in on this thread and the past CYOA. You're all absolutely wonderful people and commentators, and I'm extremely grateful that I had the opportunity to interact with you, share inside jokes and make a few of you weep and worry with my towering 8) face.
I personally want to thank each and every one of you - the lurkers, the participants, the fans, everyone - because, thanks to your participation, however small, I finally wrote a story to completion. I've been a creator and an artist for years, but not once have I ever finished a story. I even have problems just finishing a detailed picture, truthfully. But, because I had people who were invested - if not more than me, than just as much as I was - I had drive to finish up at least just this one. Rookpaw's story was the group's creation, and even though I was the one writing the events, that story could not have happened without you. For that, I'm immensely thankful.
Unfortunately, I was still riding on the energy and euphoria of completing a story that I had put a lot of thought and care into (or...didn't. I'm sure there's plenty of inconsistencies). As a result, I barely thought the sequel through other than its main premise - a group of cats leaving the Clans and striking out on their own. And, honestly, I assumed that I could just go with that alone, and let you all decide the story.
But it doesn't work like that. Not really. Not if you want a high quality story, or one that you strongly desire to tell. Why would you want to tell a long story if you're just making it up as you go?
I have stories that are at least 90% thought out that I have drive to finish (which I won't link here, because this isn't the time nor place for self-advertisement). These stories are dear to me, and I'm passionate about telling them, because of the time and work put into them. CYOA 2 was not one of them, and as a result, I let a lot of you down.
I wish that I had the same fire to burn through posts and get to the plot points that I did when I wrote the first CYOA, but I don't, and I don't think that will change any time soon. If someone else has that fire, and is willing to take over, I would be happy to pass the torch so they can light the way. Because, honestly, this isn't my story, nor was the first CYOA. They're yours, and they always have been.
Thank you so much for reading. I hope that I'll see you all around at some point or another.
