No, now that you think about it, Charlie did bring you here knowing it would be safe. You can catch a little nap, at least.

You give jumping onto the nests above you another try. Pushing upward with all your might, you jump just high enough to grab into the soft lining and start to pull yourself up. Instead, the lining comes falling down with you. Good enough, you guess.

You nudge it around on the ground until you have a nest-shape. Curling up, you glance at the sky. You have no idea what time it is, honestly. The moon is missing tonight, and the stars are also gone. The dim glow of this place keeps you from accurately gauging how long you have until dawn. You sigh, shut your eyes, and wrap your tail as far around yourself as it will go. It'll be fine.

You awake just after the sun starts to rise (you think, you can't see it here). It feels a little strange to be awake when you're supposed to be asleep, but you're not alert enough to care. You stretch, groom, and ignore your grumbling stomach and dry throat. Your stump has started aching. At least the itching went away.

Charlie is let out of the twoleg place soon after you finish grooming. She greets you with a tail wave, motioning you to follow her. Having nothing else to do, you comply.

"Alright, kid," she says as the two of you walk. "I've been considering our options since last night, and I've decided that I'm gunna help you out some."

"Help me out?" you repeat. Something about the way she said it makes you wary.

"That's what I said." She guides you to another alley, which leads to spaces behind the various dens that lets you keep moving without being in the open. "Here's the thing - I have no idea where you come from or where you need to go to get there, but you're clearly from some place far off, and you ain't used to the city. So what I'm gunna do is teach you some things you need to know to survive out here on your own, so no matter what places you end up at, you'll have some knowledge to keep yourself safe."
