The Allergy

Dear Lottie,

I must welcome you to America in the greatest way. I'm glad you are here safe after that long voyage and I hope Lady Liberty welcomed you well. I know you have receded into Maine but I do not know where since your letters were not detail accurate. I would love to know where you live so one day during the summer we can come visit. Jake has been up to Maine once before on a logging trip for his company and he says every pond in Maine is filled with fish and every house nice and cool. It could be fun to hang out in your house for the summer and catch up on things.
How's Dana doing? Has she gotten over her cough? I heard about a great doctor up there so it shouldn't be too much trouble. Please write back once you get this letter to confirm if we can stay in July and June.

Dear Esmerelda,

I'm afraid you can't come up here next month. Our house is infested with termites and the ponds are dried up with sometimes only with inches left. We have a terrible time up here and we have even discussed moving down into New York with you. That house next to yours is still open, right?
I remember it being in our price range so we are saving up again to get it. Dana is doing well but her cough is not completely gone I'm afraid. We keep her away from animals so I don't get how her cough is still here. Her animal allergy is puzzling us. never mind, there must be mice in the house.
The only drawpack is the occasional wolf that will kill sheep. But it's okay. It's not like London where people were killed instead of sheep. Maybe you can come in August. We plan to have the house cleaned up by then.
