T(b) 1: [703/700] Write about the local wildlife within your group's territory and how they interact with them. What's harmless? What's the prey? what's a threat?

Kaprosuchus

Despite being just slightly smaller than the lions that it preys upon, kaprosuchus are a force to be reckoned with. They blend perfectly into the dark waters of the Wound, where they spend their days sunbathing in the water or lazily napping on the banks, but as soon as their attention is peaked, they are quicker than you would believe. They have three large tusk-like teeth that protrude eagerly from either side of their mouth and are covered in thick scales that are near-impossible to puncture. Their tails are rather stiff, but powerful if wielded correctly, and are known to knock the feet out from under a lion with ease. As dangerous as they are, they're rather easy to avoid if you stay away from the Wound.

Urbacodon

The urbacodon are a small flightless bird-like animal. They are covered in dull feathers with spots of vibrant colors, which they use to trick their prey into thinking they are a bush of flowers. They eat mostly large insects and small birds who normally feed on flower nectar. They are not a danger to lions, but they can be a nuisance when their curiosity brings them too close to the pride's base. They have more than once torn up a Larknir's stash of herbs and medicine, much to the detriment of any ailing lions in the area. They are easily kept away with the scent of mint, thus Laeknir often grow their own small mint plants and crush up the leaves to protect their stash.

Allosaurus

Allosaurus are far and beyond the lion's most feared predator. They are rare, but when they cross paths with a lion, it almost never ends in the lion's favor. They hunt in packs of at least three and tower almost three times the size of a full-grown lion. Their bite strength is immeasurable. The only way to combat an allosaurus is to go up into the mountains, where their large body makes climbing incredibly difficult, and they often scramble for leverage while they slip down the rock face. Allosaurus are usually very dull-colored, able to blend in with their surroundings no matter where they are, and sometimes have patches of thin, lighter stripes.

Ammosaurus

Ammosaurus are long-necked animals that normally walk on four legs but can rear up onto their hind legs to reach vegetation if they need to. They have bony, clawed fingers on their front limbs which they use to defend themselves when necessary. Their body is around the same size as a full-grown lion, but their neck and tail are much longer, and they are shorter at the shoulder. They are found in many different color variations, much like horses, but also often have spots to help blend in with their surroundings and hide them from predators a little easier.

Bagaceratops

A very small, thick, hard-headed animal, the Bragaceratops is one of the lions' best sources of prey. They are abundant in the Kelree woods, where they feed on the lush vegetation, and they reproduce like crazy in all seasons but winter. They live in large groups, and when in danger they let out a loud, quivering honk to warn other Bagaceratops. Their main method of defense is, interestingly, to shove their head into the mouth of their attacker in hopes to break their teeth, because their skull is nearly unbreakable. They are the cleanest source of meat, however, since they do not carry diseases, and the lions feed upon them happily.

Dacentrurus

By far the most dangerous herbivore, taking down a Dacentrurus is a fantastic feat for any lion to achieve. They are large animals, covered in hard, sharp bony protrusions in two long rows down their back. The vibrant colors of their spines and plates warn predators of their capacity to injure, hoping that the predator will determine that it's not worth the effort to hunt them. They travel and graze in clearings and meadows, but can travel through forests if they need to. Their spines, if obtained, are used as accessories to show off the lion's capabilities, as a huge status symbol. They are never found in the mountains, and very rarely ever come close to the Wound, where they fall prey to kaprosuchus time and time again.

T 02: [162/150] Explain what natural resources are located within the territory, what is easy to obtain, and what is more difficult to find.

Konungadal is rich in terms of available resources. It has many different species of dinosaur that make wonderful sources of protein for the pride as well as hide to make things out of. A large variety of herbs can be found in the mountain ranges, which the lions use for medicine and vitamins. The forests are made up of many different trees, both coniferous and deciduous, as long as you know where to go. Fresh water isn't difficult to come by, easy to obtain in Lake Iroshaw or Ellodge lake, as well as in the form of rainfall and runoff from the mountains. The ground of the valley, however, makes it difficult to farm, which means most of the pride's food must be hunted or foraged. This makes it difficult to have a regular, balanced diet and causes the pride to be vulnerable when it comes to diseases. The Laeknir have to keep loads of vitamin-rich herbs to keep the pride healthy.


T 03: [182/150] Explain the geography/natural formations of the terrain within your territory and how it impacts your character's lives.

Konungadal seems to have a little bit of everything. The Nokotawa Mountain Range is a vast arc of impassable, freezing mountains that create a natural border to the north. To the south, the Bone-Laden Badlands are just as dangerous, with their high temperatures and formidable predators. To the west lies the peninsula of Stemlote, and west still the island of Oxmeny can be found. Little is known about these areas at the moment. The Shawbee Groveland sits on a peninsula to the southwest, just past the Dragonfly Marsh. The Wound is a series of rivers that cut through the central south of the map and is home to Kaprosuchus and other water-dwelling predators. The rolling hills of the Thesliche Expanse are scattered with trees in the southeast. There are three large forests around the Valley of the Manticore: Newmere Timberlands, Vauxrose Woods, and Kelree Woods. The Bottomless Hollows and The Sparkling Caverns are two notable cave systems in the east and west, respectfully. All in all, Konungadal sports a large variety of landscapes, and a traveling lion has no excuse for boredom.

Avriwyth has been home to the clan of cats that live amongst the roots of Yggdrasil for generations. The absolutely enormous tree with its near-impenetrable bark and nutritious leaves is held up by massive roots, creating a hollow beneath it which the cats use as a den. This den is the safest place in all the land, as all cats follow the laws of the tree, and most - if not all - other animals refuse to even come close to the tree. The Old Forest to the southwest of the tree is where the cats hunt and train, and the ruins around provide an enriching environment for young and old. The climate is temperate, with heavy snow and freezing temperatures in the winter, and plentiful storms in the humid summer.

Never one to start any sort of argument, Omen is not the best in positions of leadership. She is very submissive, preferring to simply follow orders even if she doesn't agree with them, rather than cause a confrontation. She is the best healer the clan has ever had, able to tell what ails a cat with very little information, as well as how to treat it. She knows the names and properties of just about every natural resource that Avriwyth contains, and is naturally gifted at relaying the description of such resources to those who she trusts to retrieve them. She has trouble around kits, always nervous that something may happen to them in her care, and she has yet to take an apprentice due to her discomfort at being superior to another healthy cat. Omen is very insecure about her abilities, despite the constant praise she receives, knowing that if she makes even just one small mistake it could end a great cat's life. She makes sure to take incredible care when doing her job.

Omen was born when the clan was going through hard times. A severe, fur-stealing plague had spread through the Old Forest and made its way to the roots of Yggdrasil. It afflicted almost half of the cats, one of them being Omen's mother. The ill cats were quarantined, and when Omen was the only kit that survived birth, she was given her name, seen as an omen of good luck. The plague had stolen her mother and the fur from her tail, but she showed no signs of illness. After she was born, all of the cats who were sick started to recover, and the plague lifted from the animals of the forest as well. She showed promise with medicine, and during her apprenticeship under the old and ailing healer before her, she showed her ability to memorize and use the various herbs and barks and plants that are found in Avriwyth. She is still seen as a cat with divine properties, though she doesn't acknowledge such ideas.

Razha, being one of the best Soldiers that the Cats of Avriwyth have ever had, is incredibly skilled when it comes to combat. She knows very well how to use her size to her advantage, and spends a lot of time training her small muscles to the best of their ability. She certainly comes off as a bit rude and insensitive to those who don't know her, but she always means well. She is kind and caring, she just doesn't quite know the right way to show it. Razha loves to train young cats into soldiers, proud of the small army that she has under her paw. She is a master strategist, which makes her a formidable opponent in battle, whether you're facing her teeth and claws on the front lines, or the cats that are led by her strong, commanding voice at their side. Outside of battle, she is often restless, always itching for the next brawl.

Razha was born at the Roots of Yggdrasil, and the cats around her never understood why she was so short. Her limbs simply weren't as long as those of her littermates, but it didn't slow her down. Originally the runt of the litter, she soon grew stronger than all of them and proved herself enough to become the chosen apprentice of the previous lead soldier. Under his tutelage, Razha learned to hold her own in battle and gained a sense of honor amongst the clan. She had more than shown her worth when she risked her life to save her mentor during a fight with a bear, though he died shortly after due to his injuries. The leader of the clan declared her the lead soldier, and that is the title that she has held onto ever since. She knows the danger that she faces on the battlefield, and is searching for a worthy apprentice to train in case of the worst-case scenario.

Rakott is the first member of the pride to spend more time outside the Valley than she does in it. Being a Skati, it is understood that she would travel quite a bit, but Rakott takes it to a whole other level. She is often gone for weeks or months at a time, and always comes back with some new resource or knowledge. She almost always returns with a new scar. Rakott knows how to hold her own, and has trouble working with others, preferring to go on scouting missions by herself. She insists that any other lion - even Roland himself - would slow her down. She has little care for other's feelings and will speak her mind whenever she feels like it. It is well known that Rakott has lifted items and food and such from other lions, though she hasn't stolen anything of too much importance yet. Usually, it just takes a verbal confrontation to regain any stolen goods from her.

Rakott is the first lion to be brought into the Guardians of the Manticore from the outer sub-prides, and the first of the pride to lack any stoneshifting abilities. She relies on her cunning to get her places instead of brute strength, making her a valuable asset to the pride, despite her shifty tendencies. She was abandoned as a cub at the edge of the Guardians' territory, found by Dotta, and raised as her own. Rakott always knew that she wasn't Dotta and Roland's true daughter, at least not by blood, and this always made her feel like she didn't quite fit amongst the stoneshifters. No one quite knows where she goes when she goes out "scouting", but she always comes back in a better mood, and so the lions of her pride hold their tongues. Rakott is still searching for a life partner, a mate that values freedom and travel as much as she does.
