Kalons
[✏] Generally regarded as the weakest of the five main species, kalons are often overlooked by others because of their relatively low strength. However, for what they lack in brawn, they make up for in brains. They are the most populous of the nebula. The upper class is relatively small but powerful, and those that can afford it have built what are widely regarded as the finest ships in the nebula. However, the lower class is massive, and many kalon families struggle to provide for their children. If a family cannot pay the exorbitant taxes set by the rich upper class, they are sent to the government mines regardless of age. Child working laws are next to nonexistent, and even those that excel in their work don't make much. Once a kalon enters the mines, they almost never get out. Rarely, a kalon will be promoted to a mine guard, and if they survive to have offspring, the rank is passed on.

Morkam
[✏] The morkam are fanatics of friendly competition, and their games are renowned around the nebula. Their government is split apart in separate states spanning moons and planets, and only merge in times of dire need. They prize psychical and psychological prowess, and hold an annual games every year between the states. The winner receives nothing but bragging rights, but it is one of the most popular events to attend in the galaxy. Their military is known to be extremely powerful, and when someone needs brute force for hire, the underworld of their outer colonies is the place to go. The morkam are devoutly religious, and although there are two different religions that make up the majority of the populations, arguments over beliefs are uncommon. A friendly debate, however, they would gladly take you up on.

Okironel
[✏] The rat-like okironel are the main exporters of the galaxy, creating much of the goods for sale in large business areas. They pride themselves on high intelligence, and are the reason so many properties of the nebula are known and able to be used. Unfortunately, okironel are horrid thieves, and would steal the shoes from your feet if you weren't watching. Because of this, their version of history isn't always to be trusted. An okironel's tail feathers are highly sensitive, and touching one will probably result in you getting a nasty scratch over the snout. They spend a good portion of their time making sure that their feathers are safe. Damaged feathers are looked down upon and generally shunned by their society, which is otherwise pretty lax.

Panopano
[✏] The panopano's original home world was destroying in a long forgotten war, the location lost to history. Legends say that after the destruction, they made their new home between the four stars where they now reside, and their solar technology originated from the cores of those stars. After all, the panopano were the ones to invent solar sailing (although the okironel claim credit). Using both solar sailing and the panipana, the panopano became one of the first species to actively travel between the planets of others. They've integrated well, and it's not an uncommon sight to find a group of panopano traveling together on the morkam, kalon, or okironel homeworlds. They're pack creatures at heart, and their family ties are extremely difficult to break. A lone panopano is a dead panopano.

Panipana
[✏] Panipana are the same species as panopano, but appearance would suggest otherwise. Once a panopano gains enough of a following, they will begin to rapidly grow to an enormous size. Their followers can ride upon their backs as if the panipana was a ship, and multiple panipana will sometimes join together to form a battalion. Because of how large they are, panipana cannot sustain themselves on food, and must use specialized technology to harness solar energy. The process of converting solar energy is extremely tiring, and causes the panipano to fall into an almost deathlike sleep, called solar hibernation. Another trait exclusive to the panipana that the panopano do not share is echolocation. A single blast from close range could shatter the windows of even the most heavy duty transport ship, and multiple blasts? Well...let's just hope you paid the okironel for insurance.

Xanthur
The xanthur aren't one of the main senient species of the nebula, being quite a bit rarer than the rest, but almost as well known. Their physical bodies are small, sluglike beings. They are parasites, who enter a host through the nose or ear, and wrap around the brain. There is no way to tell if someone has been infected by a Xanthur. If an infected host has offspring, the offspring will have a Xanthur as well. Xanthur can take completw control of the host's body after about three weeks of infection, and there is nothing the host can do about it. Some Xanthur are kinder than others, and learn to coexist with their host, but others will force their way into power over the host's body. Due to their parasitic nature, a Xanthur will kill the host after 10-20 years of attachment, regardless of the parasites relationship with the host. Leaving a living host is painful to both the host and the Xanthur, and thus, most Xanthur wait until the host has died to leave. Any species can be infected by a Xanthur, and those that are found to be infected are cast off by society to wander alone for the rest of their lives.
