To a younger, slightly geekier Edward Durand,

You're most likely in a very tough spot in your life right now. I would know because, well, I am you. I wish i could give you nothing but good advice, but if im telling the truth, things are going to be tough for awhile. There's going to be times in life where your parents are going to make you feel dumb, and times when your so-called "friends" are going to make you feel worthless. But none of that is true, and you will learn that one day. You'll learn this through meeting and falling in love with your best friend in every way possible; romantically, platonically, you name it. You'll learn this through becoming the smartest kalon in the KCPD and having kits come on field trips with a light in their eyes as they fire off questions only you can answer. You will make it out of that house youre trapped in with your parents one day. You will find a place where you belong. You'll learn to be comfortable in your own skin. You just have to be patient, as I know you can be (obviously). Also, make sure to get rid of those D&D cards when you meet Archie. It's been a decade and he still hasnt let me live that nerdiness down.

Workshop Three - Writing Prompt

Prompt:
Dante's closest friend is Silas, who he met under very strange circumstances, during a heist that left Dante's model friend captive in villain hands. After helping out Silas, the two of them continued to run into each other until their coincidental meetings became intentional, and they were sharing meals in the secluded corners of small deserted diners where the both of them dont have to worry about hiding from the world. The two of them make a strange pair, their personalities clashing as much as possible, though the two of them get along surprisingly well. Dante took months before he was able to open up to the sly, sassy model, but when he did, Silas regarded him with a shockingly gentle and reassuring air. Since that point, Dante makes sure to frequently meet up with his friend, and they even have sleep overs at Silas' home when Dante isnt out fighting crime. As their relationship progresses, Dante is beginning to fear the way his heart speeds up at the sight of Silas, though he fears even more the thought of not having the kalon in his life, and allows his feelings to do as they will, whether that means liking Silas in a heavily platonic or bordering romantic light.

Workshop Three - Day One Exercise

Has your kalon ever met their grandparents? If so, what do they think of them?
His family only knows his father Jules' parents, who are relatively distant and only visit on big holidays. They live a rich life and are unfamiliar with the relatively modest lives that Egypt and his parents both lead.

What is your kalon's relationship with their parents?
Egypt has an extremely positive relationship with his parents. One of his two dads, Aio, acts more like his brother than his parent. The two of them get into play fights and are both very laid back, humorous kalons. On the other hand, Egypt's other dad, Jules, is a more strict parent, but the two of them both have a significant love for nature, and often go on hikes and walks together.

Do they have any siblings? Are they blood related or adopted?
He has two blood-related brothers, Rue Davis and Raury Davis. While his entire family have no clue of Raury's whereabouts, Egypt tries his best to keep in touch with Rue, and is very protective of him.

Does your kalon have children? Do they/did they ever want to have kits?
Egypt has no children, and right now, he doesnt want any. He isnt romantically close to anyone, and would rather not latch himself down to anyone while he still has so much to experience.

Which family member is your kalon closest to? Why?
He's closest to both of his parents, but out of the two of them its hard to say out of the two of them which he is closest to. He relates more to Aio but tends to spend more time with Jules, and for that reason he struggles to chose between the two.

Is there a family member your kalon wishes they could know better? Who is it?
After Raury's disappearance, Rue closed himself off from Egypt as well out of fear that he would do the same. Egypt admires Rue and strives to be part of his life, to be able to tease and protect him, and grow closer.

Workshop Three - Day Two Exercise

Who is your kalon's enemy/least favorite person?
How did they come to feel this way about them?

Oswald's number one enemy is, like many others, Raury Davis. The two of them actually used to be allies, albeit reluctant ones. Their meetings were filled with tension, Raury's crude, chaotic natute making Oswald grimace and struggle to hold back his distasteful comments. The two of them couldnt be any more different; Raury is a destroyer, while Oswald is a builder. Raury is chaotic where Oswald is organized. Despite this clash, Oswald was still willing to cooperate for the better of his gang, or as he liked to call it, his "business".

That was, until, Raury Davis betrayed him. Oswald denied it at first; all the men dead and thousands, if not millions, of dollars stolen from one of his largest warehouses. But it eventually became clear who was behind the event when Raury completely disappeared, and Oswald lost all connections with him. The event hit Oswald's group hard, and now that Raury has disappeared from the city, Oswald's ambition to catch him and get revenge in any way that he possibly can.

Besides their best friend, who else is your kalon friends with?
Mae visits a poetry group every month and the kalons she knows there, she considers her friends. The poetry group is the only places she feels comfortable being herself in. In the "real world", she tends to shy away from socialization, so she doesnt have many if any other friends outside of poetry group.

What qualities does your kalon look for in a friend?
Mae aspires to find friends who wont judge her for her mood swings, and that she can get along with humor-wise. Otherwise, she is willing to look past many flaws in order to be someone's friend.

What qualities does your kalon dislike in a friend?
She hates kalons who are quick to judge others, and will stay away from them at all costs.

Would they risk their life to save a friend? A stranger?
A friend, definitely. But not a stranger.

Is it easy or hard to earn their trust? Why?
Mae relies more on how a certain environment feels before she determines whether she can possibly trust the people around her. If she's in a safe environment, she's more likely to open up to strangers around her, but in a place that stresses her out, she's very close-lipped.
