I just moseyed on over here from the link you posted on Inklings- and wow. That's all I have to say.
Ok that's not really all :P
This was awesome. Seriously. Even in such a short piece you managed to create a brilliant, immersive atmosphere. I immediately felt sucked in and struck by the same sense of desperation and foreboding as the she-wolf. You also managed to shift the mood of the story so seamlessly- from desperation to anger to fear to motherly and protective, it all fit together so well. You're an awesome writer!
In particular I really liked this line;
A small village nestled beneath the hill’s forbidding brow, like chicks under their mother’s wing.
It painted the humans in a way that made them seem like prey or weaklings to the she-wolf, which highlighted the way she sorta flipped back and forth between fear and anger. I really liked it, lol.
Anyways, this piece was awesome. I can't wait to read more from you :)
