Oh lord. Paleflower is one of my absolutely favorite characters to write as, she's definitely going to be a strange deputy. ;w; I'll get the next part up in a few!

I also hope you guys are okay with all the questions revolving around the cats for now.. Hopefully we can get some more interesting questions here soon.

It's honestly fine. Characters need to be picked, and silly Things must happen, which is why I picked the young, silly one. It brings me much joy.

Froststar woke and instantly knew his duties for the day; first and foremost was the deputy ceremony. The sun had just begun to rise into the sky so the stars wouldn't be able to see his decision, but he knew that StarClan would hear him.. Ravenstar would hear him. A deep breath settled the tom as he strode out of his den.

A large boulder sat next to the tom's den and it was used for the meetings. Froststar leaped easily to the top of the boulder and curled his tail neatly over his paws.. only a few more seconds to compose himself, the tom thought once more over the cats who could possibly be his deputy.

"Let all cats old enough to stalk their own prey gather here beneath the Highrock to hear my words." Froststar's words flowed out of his mouth, remembering the words he'd heard Ravenstar utter many times before.

Cats from the warriors and apprentice's den flooded camp, queens stepped near the entrance of the nursery, afraid to leave their kits unattended, elders limped and staggered from the elder's den.. Raintail trudged out of the medicine cat's den to sit near the entrance and curl her tail around her paws. For a brief moment Froststar thought about how Raintail needed an apprentice.. but that wasn't on the menu today. Froststar needed to know that his clan approved of his choice in a deputy.

Taking another deep breath Froststar began, " I say these words before StarClan, so that the spirits of our warrior ancestors may hear and approve of my choice. The new deputy of WillowClan is Paleflower."

The pale white she-cat stepped forward, her orange points vibrate against her pale pelt. She was so young, only having had a single apprentice and so boisterous. Yet, Froststar felt she could grow into deputy, she had so much potential. Holding his breath Froststar gazed around camp, gauging the reactions of his clan.





How does the clan react to Paleflower's appointment?

A. With cheers and the usual hooray.
B. Most cheer but there are several warriors who make their voices heard that they are against the decision.
C. The Clan is quiet, concerned about such a young warrior being deputy.
D. A lot of the clan is angry, particularly one tom who believed he deserved the spot.

At first the air simply seemed still. Paleflower sat below Froststar a proud grin on her beaming face but the tom's gut told him it wouldn't last long.

"This is a joke, right?" one cat meowed from the cluster below.

"Oakfang is right!" meowed another, "Paleflower is a pushover!"

Paleflower's ears drooped and she let her head hand. Froststar's claws slid out from their sheathes and he gave the clan a few more moments of their banter.

"We all know Oakfang is the one who really deserved the spot!" a she-cat who's voice could hardly be heard meowed as the tom pushed his way through the clan toward the base of the Highrock. Oakfang was a dark orange, almost brown tom with wide shoulders and a square head. Everyone Clan cat knew he was praised for his fighting abilities and, apparently, they believed this made for a fit deputy.

Froststar's fur stood on his shoulders as he eyed Oakfang, watching him creep closer and closer to Paleflower. The leader noted that the approaching tom's claws were out, leaving tiny lines in the dirt behind him. Tail flicking aggressively, Froststar's gut told him that if he didn't intervene Oakfang would strike at the newly appointed deputy.

Paleflower pulled her head up as Oakfang came closer and let her claws slide out into the dirt. For the first time, the sweet Paleflower was holding her ground. For a moment Froststar allowed the pride to swell in his chest.

"Enough!" the leader yowled, leaping off of Highrock to stand before Oakfang, "You all truly believe that just because you can kill your enemies you're a fit leader!?" Froststar's venom filled blue eyes raked the clan before him as his tail lashed back and forth, "Oakfang, you weren't chosen as deputy for a reason," he spat, "Accept it."

Oakfang's upper lip rose as he stared Froststar down, "You've only been leader for one day, Frostclaw," a collective gasp came from the clan as the tom addressed their leader by his previous name, "and I'm already sick of you."

Paleflower rushed passed Froststar and pounced on Oakfang's back as he walked in the opposite direction of the duo. In a matter of seconds Oakfang had turned and raked his claws across Paleflower's shoulders and blood soaked into the she-cat's white shoulders. The deputy returned the strike with a paw aimed at the tom's nose. The blow connected and Oakfang recoiled as blood welled on his nose. Paleflower took the opening in a lightning quick second and head-butted Oakfang's belly. Winded, the tom was easily pinned by the much younger female.

The deputy snarled in Oakfang's face, "Respect your leader, Oakpaw." Her ears swiveled toward Froststar though her eyes never left the pinned body of Oakfang, "What do you want me to do with him?"





What should Froststar decide to do with Oakfang?

A. Let him go. A thug isn't worth the trouble.
B. Keep him out of the dens and have a guard placed with him at all times. Treat the trouble-maker like a prisoner.
C. Exile. Chase him out of the Clan's territory.
D. Apprentice duties. Clean the elder's bedding, check for ticks, and watch after the kits when the queens need him to.
