*This post is most about the show. Sorry :D :D :D

Lilli woke up to her alarm the next morning. She had set it for 4:00 am. They would be leaving for the show in an hour. Lilli showered and dried her hair. She put it up in a french braid and moved to her closet. She picked a pair of stark white breeches, an ink black show coat, a white show shirt, and her shiny, most expensive black Ariat boots. She put them all into their designated show bags her father had sent her a few months ago monogramed with her name. She put on a sweat shirt, sweat pants, and paddock boots. She put her clothes into her designated truck and got Domino ready. She packed his fancy black and gold tack set and put that in her designated truck by her clothes. She took off his blanket and replaced it with his matching black and gold one and boots of the same design. She put on his nice black leather halter with a gold name plate and the matching lead line.

Lilli lead Domino out to the trailer in all his glory. She had put her brace back on, knowing she would need it. As Lilli put Domino in his trailer, she gave herself a minute to smile. She hadn't smiled happily for a few days and it felt good. Suddenly, Lilli felt someone loading another horse into the other half of the trailer. She saw Striker's head and calmed down. Beth secured Striker on his side and walked around the barrier. "Lilli. . ." she started sadly. Before Beth could say another word, Lilli hugged her hard. "I'm sorry" she said quietly. Lilli needed Beth in her life. They were best friends. Beth hugged her back for a second and than let Lilli go. "I'm glad to hear it" she said.

Lilli and Beth closed the trailer door and climbed into the truck. She quickly realized Brett was driving their truck. "You ladies good?" he asked the pair of friends. Beth nodded enthusiastically, but Lilli ignored him. "What did you end up signing up for?" she asked Beth. "An advanced dressage class, hunter jumper, and pleasure" Beth said. Lilli smiled for real. "Sounds fun" she told her friend. Lilli needed to work on dressage. If she wanted to compete in three day eventing, she would need to be able to complete an amazing Dressage course. Beth was amazing, and she always loved to watch her compete.

They got to the show ground and checked in. Lilli was number 126, and Beth was 273. They lead their horses to their assigned stalls, getting lots of admiring looks from the other people at their horses. Lilli and Beth split up to get changed, and Lilli had to walk her courses. The first two were easy. All straight, no loops in the courses, but her advanced jumper class had some challenging elements. She would really have to pay attention to Domino during the course.

Half an hour later, Lilli had warmed Domino up and was waiting for her turn on the first show jumping course against Rebecca and about 10 other riders. Rebecca had ridden a good round with no faults and was holding first place with her time of 58.23 seconds, but Lilli knew she could beat it. Before she knew it, Lilli was up next. She walked Domino into the Arena and stopped him inside the gate. She bowed her head to the judges as you were supposed to in a real eventing show.

The buzzer sounded, and Domino surged forward into a strong canter. She held him at this pace for the first four jumps, but as they neared a double combination, she slowed a notch so Domino could make the single stride in between. They cleared the combo no problem, and moved to the next few jumps. Domino cleared the next vertical no problem. There was one last jump left. It was the highest of all of them and a little ways away, so Lilli let Domino into a faster canter. He reached the jump, and Lilli raised up onto his neck, feeling like she was flying. It was probably her favorite Feeling in the whole world. Domino hit the ground smoothly, and the clock stopped. Her time: 43.82 seconds and zero faults. She smiled as the judge pinned a ribbon to Domino's bridle.

She competed in her second jump course next. She and Domino got first again, but she would have gotten second if the girl faster than her hadn't knocked a rail. Lilli gladly accepted her second blue ribbon of the day and went to watch Beth and Striker's dressage class. They had already collected a second and first in their other two classes, but Lilli knew Beth would win dressage for sure. Just as Lilli had predicted, Beth won her class by a landslide.

Lilli headed over to the begining of the cross country course with Domino and strapped on her protective vest. She felt someone pat her boot. She looked down and saw Brett, her mother, and her grandfather. they wished her luck, but she solidified her face and rode away from them. A few minutes later, Lilli was up. She lined Domino up at the starting line. The buzzer sounded and she let Domino run. There wasn't a jump for a while, so she let him gallop the straight. The got closer to the first jump, a log, and she slowed Domino to steady canter. They took the jump no problem. The moved through the next jumps quickly and cleanly, but as the approached the creek, Domino began to weave. Before he could refuse, Lilli circled him and lined him up again. He took it this time no problem. They took the last two jumps and reached the last flat of the course. It was about 500 feet, and Lilli het Domino gallop again. She got into a jockey position and grinned. This made her so happy and free.

10 minutes later, Lilli had her third blue ribbon pinned to Domino's halter and was loading him into the trailer.

The next morning when Lilli walked downstairs, Brett, her mother, and her Grandfather were all collected at the kitchen table again. "Lilli. . ." her Mother started. "Let me guess" Lilli said sarcastically before anyone could say another word. "You're still angry at me for what I said to the campers. Guess what! I'm still not sorry, and I'm never going to be" she finished. Brett spoke next. "Actually, Lilli, we wanted to apologize for our behavior the other day. You told the campers to stay away from Fire once, and they knew he spooked often. We may not fully agree with how you dealt with them, but we can all understand why you said what you did." Lilli smiled triumphantly. She knew this was the perfect time to ask what had been on her mind for a few days now. "Thanks" she said in a happy tone. "Actually, I was wondering if we could do a last minute entry to the schooling show next weekend" she asked them. "Sure. You want to show Domino more?" her mother asked. "Actually, I want to show Fire" Lilli said.

After finally convincing the adults to let her enter a jumping course and cross country course with Fire, Lilli went out to try to ride him. She did a quick check of his spook level and tack. She hopped on him, ready for the fire, but he stood calmly. "Good boy" Lilli said quietly. She rode him to the outdoor arena and took him over some trot poles. He responded beautifully with a smooth gait. She took him over a few low cross rails. Suddenly, a car door slammed. Lilli's heart pounded, waiting for Fire's response. She kept his reins tight and her legs firmly on his sides. All Fire did was flick his ears. Lilli praised him for a long time after that. She continued raising the height of the poles until they had reached about two feet.

After a few hours of successful work on Fire, Lilli decided to try to introduce him to some other horses. She remembered how he reacted to Audi, but he seemed to like Domino. She put Domino and Fire in a pen together, and they whinnied playfully to each other. They began playing and chasing each other, and Lilli sat and watched, thinking about her father. She really missed him today. Lilli went to grab a few apple slices from the kitchen. When she was on her way back to the pen, she saw Rebecca inside with the two horses.

Lilli waited to see what Rebecca was doing. She saw the camper clip a lead line to Fire's halter and make reins. Rebecca tried to hop onto Fire's back, but Fire wouldn't have any of it. The second she was steady, the scarred horse bucked and kicked with all his power. Domino fed off of Fire's energy and started to prance nervously. A few seconds later, Fire was finally able to get Rebecca off of his back. The girl fell hard on her butt in the dirt of the pen.

Lilli walked over to Rebecca at a normal pace, not to concerned with the girl's health, as she was already getting up and walking back to Fire. When Lilli saw what happened next, she began to run. Rebecca had gotten to Fire and was chasing him and screaming at him. Rebecca raised her hand above the mustang's rump and smacked him down. Lilli screamed nonsense as she ran to the pen. Domino was pacing in the far corner, not sure what was happening. When Lilli reached the pen, she scrambled over the fence and ran to Rebecca. She got to the camper and threw her to the ground. Fire was still freaking out, so Lilli went to go calm him before she dealt with Rebecca.

Lilli took a few minutes to calm her horses and walked over to Rebecca, who was getting up and dusting herself off. Lilli stormed over to her and shoved her to the ground. "What was that for?!" Rebecca screamed. Lilli couldn't think coherent thought other than anger. "Maybe for hitting my horse! Maybe for touching my horse! Maybe its just for making me breathe the same air as you!" Lilli screamed. She wanted to punch Rebecca in the face, and was doing all she could possibly do to control herself. "Wow. You really are an uptight, rich brat! You're not all that you know! I'm just as good a rider as you" Rebecca snarled in response. Lilli was taken back by what the other girl had just said."You know what Rebecca? I'm over this. You touched my horse -which I told you not to do- and than proceeded to ride an abuse him. And I am a better rider than you! I beat you! Do you not remember that? I can jump higher, communicate with horses in a way you can't, and I don't screw with other people's horses!" Lilli screamed. By this point, a crowd had gathered about 10 feet away from the pen. Rebecca scowled and stomped back to her cabin.

Lilli turned back around to her horses. Fire's eyes still rolled nervously, and Domino wouldn't stand still. She tried to pat Fire on the shoulder, but he crab stepped away and threw his head up, his ears going back. Lilli sighed, fed the two geldings, and went to her room.

When she got to her room, Lilli locked her door, curled up into a ball on her bed and sobbed. she had made so much progress with Fire, her last connection to her father, and now it might be gone. She heard people knock on her door every once and a while, but she couldn't talk to them. Finally after a few hours, she unlocked her door to a knock, surprised to see Andrew. "Hi. You ok?" he asked gently. Lilli stared at the ground. "No" she said, her voice flat and emotionless.

Andrew sat Lilli down on her bed and he pulled over her desk chair. They sat there in silence for a few minutes. Finally, Andrew spoke up. "I'm going for a trail ride tomorrow. Would you want to come?" he asked her quietly. Lilli looked up and met his eyes sadly. "Sure" she said.

Re: I'll Burn You up (Training-Not to join!)

Lilli woke up the next morning, her eyes still puffy and red from crying so much last night. She got changed without thinking, and than noticed she had two different boots on. She finally looked at her outfit, and decided to change. Lilli layered on smudged black eyeliner and put rings in all four of her piercings. She pulled on a black t-shirt, a skin tight black hoodie, black breeches, and black boots. She grabbed her black: riding helmet, gloves, crop, and headed out the door. She walked through the kitchen, not getting anything to eat, wondering where everyone was. Lilli walked outside, but realized how dark it was. She checked the time on her phone. It read 4:23 am. Lilli shrugged and walked to the stable. She pulled out Fire's tack (which was black) and a black saddle pad. Lilli knew she looked like a goth kid, but maybe that's what she was now. Lilli went out to Fire's pen and greeted him with a sad smile. The mustang nickered quietly to her as she got closer. Lilli quickly groomed and tacked him, needing to be on a horse. She rode him over to the outdoor arena, turned on the lights and surveyed the jump course. It was complicated, high, and would required a large amount of trust between horse and rider. "We can do this boy" Lilli whispered to her horse. Fire snorted, hopefully in agreement. Lilli warmed the mustang up and lined him up with the first jump. She urged him into a fast canter, his long legs eating up the ground. In no time at all, they reached the first double oxer. Fire gathered himself up and flew. Lilli realized that jumping on Fire was different than any other horse she had ridden. The mustang had a way of jumping that was majestic. almost unreal. His landing was smooth and soft. Lilli barley moved in the saddle. As she took the rest of the course with Fire, Lilli realized a few things. She had found the horse she loved, her horse. This horse was crazy, cooky, and aggressive. And she had trained this horse. This horse loved her just as much as Lilli loved him. This last gift from her father had been the best gift she had. As the pair flew over the last jump, a brick wall, a light popped, sending sparks flying. Fire didn't care, and Lilli realized that she had Made Over Her Mustang

I tried to tie my heart down, board up all the windows
Oh but it's too late now
I let you get too close
I know I should take cover, hide inside these four walls
But baby I surrender, it all

'Cause you're a force of nature
Look at what you've done
I can taste the danger but I don't wanna run
So pull me to the ground and I won't put up a fight
I'm a caution taker, but baby you're a force of nature
Baby you're a force of nature

I'll be here 'till we collide
I don't care if I survive
So crash into me one more time
Yeah, yeah, oh
