So. It has been two months, nearly, since I have last posted something. I've gone through a lot, and I know I need to update this more. I saw a lot of you wanted to hear my opinions on drama and gossip, so here goes.
If you like to gossip; don't. If you know that some gossip isn't true, speak out about it. Don't let yourself or others have vicious rumors spread about them, in or out of school, because somebody decided to concoct a lie. If you like to create drama; refrain. Drama tears people apart, and affects everyone, not just those it is made about. The person who spreads the gossip and the drama is changed by it too, and sooner or later it comes back to bite them in the hindquarters.
I'm fortunate, I finally put my foot down, as did my family. I'm being withdrawn out of school, because my school system has a nasty habit of pledging to fight bullying, and then they turn around and do nothing about it. My younger brother used to take a shuttle bus to my school so that we'd ride the same bus home to our neighborhood. A mentally unstable girl in my grade who had a fascination with him came up behind him and throttled him; he buckled to the ground and if I hadn't been so worried about his ribs being broken, I would have defended him.
But that's a very severe case, and not the only one. I've told you before about the rumors spread about me being a lesbian, and how I finally put my foot down with that. I was the one who stopped it, plus one teacher; the administration did nothing about it. Now that's not to say every school won't, I just live in a sad little town. The point I'm trying to get at is --- it affects you, it affects the person that the gossip is being spread about, and anyone, everyone involved in such things. The best way to stop it is to keep it from happening to begin with, and keep yourself out of others' business.
Be the bigger person, whether you're the victim or the bully. Don't spread drama, don't spread gossip, and don't bully. It's that simple - be a better, bigger, and kinder person, and the world will be just an ounce better. That ounce makes a big difference.
- rivkah, over and out.
