What will we call you:VeritatisSplendor is a pain in the neck to type, so I guess Splendor...or something. xD I honestly don't care.
What are your goals as an author? 1) To come up with a writable plot that is not a result of just randomly starting to write and seeing what happens.
2) To use this plot to write my own, multi-chapter story that is not a result of a writing partner nagging me every paragraph.
3) To overall improve my writing, grammar, style, most especially characters.
Can you give us a sample of your writing? I was having a little fun with making up a myth on why it was such a warm winter in America.

It was a typical day on Mount Olympus. It was sunny and breezy, and nymphs danced in the streets. But in an ancient, almost forgotten tower, an epic battle was taking place.
"Give ME the globe!"
Pale, icy fingers curled indignantly over the controls in front of a large, glass globe and grasped the large lever possessively. "It's my turn! You get the controls next, wait your turn!"
A golden haired girl with flowers in her hair and grey eyes the color of hail frolicked around her tall, dark haired, harsh faced, but coldly handsome brother. She whined incessantly, alternately smiling and distracting Winter by making a flower pop out of the ground before diving for the controls. "But it's so boring! Autumn had all the fun and now you are just sitting here blowing a little frost on the ground. Everything is just so darn cold!"
Winter jumped out of the way, knocking Spring aside and regaining control over the globe, which had begun to clear of the thick grey clouds that had pervaded it earlier. He rolled his eyes. "Oh, so I should just go dump a few feet of snow on them like I did a year or so back? That was fun, but it left me in a coma for weeks! Anyway, things are going to go in a nice cold snap tomorrow so hold your horses. I planned it just in time to kill all of the flower blossoms you allowed to bloom after you knocked me out for a week and took over. Remember? How it was like 68* in DECEMBER? It was horrible! I am going to make sure these humans rue the day they ever begged for snow. Don't you have hair to brush and earthworms to coax or something?"
Angry tears sprang into Spring's eyes, which had become stormy. "Fine! You go and kill all that is alive and green while I plan for spring!" She flounced off, an April rainstorm developing around her and sending gusts of rain through the room.
Winter flinched as the rain hit him, and promptly turned it to sleet. "Spoiled brat" he muttered, focusing his attention on the mortals which had just had a wild day of sun interspersed with rain and gusts of cold north wind. He delved into the task of constructing an enormous snowstorm, gathering some cold air here, pulling some moist air there, pushing it with some nice wind and all the while making sure that the mortals experienced a nice, grey, rainy winter day.
****
Spring sat brooding on her bed, legs swinging as she rested her chin on her fist, forehead crinkled in meditation.
Winter always has all the fun, making things cold and never even protecting her plants with snow! Always ice and rain, it was boring!
She lifted her head and stared out the window, eyes growing misty as she looked far off from the mortal region she and her brother had been tormenting to where her aunt allowed for perpetual summer. Why not? It was certainly better than freezing to death!
She wrapped herself in a March fog and descended silently down the stairs, feet scarcely whispering on the cold stone. Reaching the room of the four seasons, she conjured her hoe and padded silently on Winter, who did not notice her. Too late, he glanced over his shoulder and opened his mouth in an exclamation of surprise, only to be quickly struck down. Winter sprawled on the ground, out cold.
Spring leaped to the controls, redirecting the snowstorm just in time to Texas and immediately raising the temperatures once more. A sunny day, 60* and perfect, rested gently on the mortals, who scratched their heads in confusion.
It didn't take long for Winter to come to. With a groan, he sat up blearily and saw Spring at the controls. With a roar, he jumped and slammed the control board, sending the next day into a bitter cold snap. Snarling, he turned on Spring and chased her about the room. Spring shrieked in terror and ran like a startled deer. Winter, with a grunt of irritation, changed into a biting north wind and swept towards her, sending darts of icy rain flying in all directions. Spring, seeing her chance, leaped for the globe and yelled "Spring!"
The globe contracted, moaned, and produced a mild, sunny, though cool day. Winter yelled and changed back into himself, conjuring his ice sword, and slashing at the controls. "Winter!" he bellowed.
And thus it went, and for weeks the mortals were baffled by sudden warm weather followed by snows, rains, cold frosts, which were then followed by baffling warm weather once again. However, they never suspected the epic battle which produced their bizarre weather.
Winter did eventually win out, and in February put Spring into a deep sleep that would last until her turn in April. Tired out by his hard-fought victory however, he was only able to manage some freezing weather and a light snow before falling into his deep, year long slumber once more. Not to menace the mortals for another winter.
Are you currently working on any books?Yes...sort of. My bf Kess and I are working on a story that we hope to get published someday called Misunderstood.
Why do you want to join?To maybe find help and commentary on my writing beyond just "oh I like it!" And also to read and enjoy other people's work.

Also I guess to maybe find inspiration when even pressing a key to write anything feels like torture. Annd, that's all that springs to mind. *feels selfish for having self-centered reasons to join*
Do you have published books yet?No.
Do you wish to find a "writing partner"?No
What's your favorite genre to read? Write?Adventure and fantasy mostly, though I have favorites in all kinds of genres. Anything with action! To write...Medieval, fantasy, realistic set in present, anything besides sci-fi or romance I guess.
Were you a member of the old thread?Yes, I just changed my username from "HorseDreamer" page
