When you think of the name Reese Palmer, what do you think of? Images of Palmer's Chocolate and
Reeses Peanut Butter Cups might come to mind. But when Reese thinks of his name, that's not what
he sees. He thinks of Reese the Reaver from Marvel Comics and Ray Palmer, the Atom, from DC.
Every little boy loves superheroes, but Reese took his passion to a whole new level.

Reese was a fairly normal kid. Just about every 10 year old boy loves superheroes, and just about every one
of them wishes he could be one. Reese was on different. For him, every comic book was a doorway into a new
world, a world where normal news reporters could fly and average school kids got bit by radioactive spiders.
Reese wanted to be apart of that world from the moment he opened his first comic book. He took his passion
for superheroes very seriously. He spent hours learning about every superhero and villian and even the side
and background characters most people believed to be useless. He dedicated most of his free time to reading,
drawing, and talking about superheroes.

One day, however, Reese fell very ill. He had somehow contracted an illness called meningitis. Although he
survived, the experience left him with frequent massive headaches and complete hearing loss. Suddenly, at
age 10, Reese had gone deaf.

Now, Reese had to deal with the everyday problems of being deaf. He could no longer hear people speak
to him. He had his parents write notes to him so that he could understand them. He could no longer enjoy
listening to music. Being deaf in public school caused him to be bullied on a few, although not many,
occasions. Reese started to become discouraged about his condition. His parents were very concerned
for his well being, especially when he started renting superhero movies from the library and locking
himself into his room to watch them on his computer. They worried about his mental wellbeing and had
been talking about whether he should go and visit a psychologist.

This went on for a few months after Reese's recovery from his illness, even after his 11th birthday. But
one day, Reese unlocked his door, exited his room, entered the kitchen, and said clearly to his
mother, "Say something!"

Obviously surprised, and a little unsure, Reese's mother tentatively said, "I love you."

Reese's teeth sparkled as he grinned wide. "I love you too, Mom!"

During the months that he had been hiding out in his room, Reese had been watching his favorite superhero
movies with the subtitles on, silently teaching himself to read lips. Now, he could understand just about
anything a person was saying to him just by reading their lips!

From that day on, Reese was a changed person. Even at such a young age, he had discovered the motivation
he needed to overcome his disability.
When he got older, Reese taught himself American Sign Language so that he could communicate with other
deaf people who couldn't read lips.

During the day, Reese works at his parents' ice cream parlor. He really enjoys talking to the patrons
and making their orders. Reese has actually created quite a few unique ice cream desserts, enough
that his parents have dedicated an entire part of their menu to his creations, called "Reese's Specials".
Sometimes a new customer will get confused, thinking that all of the deserts on that part involve
Reese's brand peanut butter cups. But the veteran patrons know that "Reese's Specials" means that's
where you'll get the best possible desserts.

Reese is also going to college for art and acting. He would like to maybe someday publish a few of
his short stories and comics that he put together as a child, however, he doesn't want comics to
become the basis of his future career. Although he fully enjoys creating his own comics, Reese
believes he would do much better in an acting career. As you will discover later on, he already
devotes his night life to an acting "career" of sorts. Although he may not be the first ever deaf actor,
Reese would still like to use acting as a pedestal for the deaf community.

Reese has a very deep concern for the minorities, people with disabilities, people who go without
daily necessities, and people who are just plain different. He hates to see any type of bullying or
arguing between people, and he always tries to help the people find a common ground. Reese is a
very empathetic Plumerian. He can always tell when something is wrong, and will always be
there for those who need a shoulder to cry on. He can't stand to see people hurting inside.

Because of these feelings, Reese wants to become famous, not for his own advantage, but because
he can use his fame as leverage, a way to help people understand. He wants to be able to show the
world how important it is to help those in need.

At night time, Reese has a secret. He hasn't told any of his friends or family about it, and at this point,
he doesn't plan to.

At night, Reese becomes a superhero.

Now, you might be thinking,"So, he runs around the streets at night in brightly coloured tights, apprehending
jewelry shop burgalers and bank robbers?"

No. Reese isn't that kind of superhero.

As a child, Reese never needed someone to save him from his disability. He wanted to save others. When he
was 17, he considered going into police work or becoming a fireman. But Reese couldn't get by in either of
those lines of work by simply reading lips. He wouldn't be able to listen to walkie-talkies or hear the fire
bell ring. However, always the quick-thinking optimist, Reese came up with another idea.

Every night, Reese volunteers at the children's hospital in his city. After sunset, Reese dons a costume and
drives up to the hospital. There, he visits the children as their favorite superhero, be it Batman, Superman,
Spiderman, The Flash, or any other hero the children want to see. He asks the nurse to tell the child that
they have a very special visitor, and he enters the room. The children love it. Reese stays in perfect
character, not using pre-written dialogue, but improvising with the child's questions. Because he knows
so much about so many heroes, he can do this with ease, making a witty comment perfect for Spiderman,
or making reference to "his" previous exploits as the character. Most of the time, his hearing disability
isn't a problem, since he visits the children one at a time, so that he can read their lips, although
there have been a few slip-ups.

Many of the children truly believe that their favorite superhero had come to visit them. The older ones
understand, but most of them enjoy it just the same. The hospital workers love him just as much as the
children. Many of them, and a few of the older children, consider not the superheroes he dresses up as,
but Reese Palmer himself, to be their hero.

Castor

Castor has a very blunt, rude personality. Despite this Reese is fascinated by him. He has never
met anyone in the paranormal field before, and the idea that there might be ghosts and monsters
in the world is a totally new idea to him. Reese finds Castor's personality to be trying, and he
really doesn't like to be around him for long periods of time, however, he really does like to learn
about Castor's field.

Pastel

Pastel is Reese's best friend. He is kind and considerate, friendly and warm, all features that Reese
looks for in potential friends. The two also share a love for reading and adventure, and they will
often talk for hours on the subject of superheroes. Reese also respects Pastel because of the
similarities between the two of them. Pastel was diagnosed with severe asthma as a child, rendering
him incapable of going on any andventures like he dreamed. But Pastel overcame this difficulty by
becoming a writer, pouring out his dreams onto paper to create fantastic adventure novels. Pastel
also doesn't treat Reese as if he were below him because of his disability.

Anarchy

With a strong, conflicting personality and lots of sass, Reese doesn't get along with Anarchy very well.
The ex-police officer was fired because of her hot temper and impulsive ways, and these same
personality traits are the ones that get under Reese's skin. Although he has a deep respect for Ann's
abilities as a law-enforcement worker, he doesn't agree with many of her morals and ideals. He also
does not approove of the girl's relationship with Midas, who's underground exploits are much less than
legal. Because of these things, Reese tries to avoid Anarchy as best as possible.

Iridescence

Reese doesn't quite know what to make of Iridescence. The Plumie is wild and impuslive, much like
Anarchy, but Iri has a much softer side as well. She understands Reese and his problems and
appreciates his abilities. Although he has a much stronger relationship with Iridescence's mate Mink, who
happens to be a quieter and calmer Plumie, Reese tries to get along with Iridesence.

Eloise

Reese greatly enjoys Eloise's company. He finds the aspiring cartoonist to be a kindred spirit, someone
who also believes in hard work and kindness. He often likes to talk to her about her art, and finds her
to be very talented. The two get along very well and any time she comes to the ice cream parlor, Reese
makes a point to sit down and speak with her. He also likes to visit her at her work in the cafe. She has
an open, joking side that Reese finds to be quite refreshing.

Mark Ruffalo
Not only does he play a major role in a superhero film,
Mark is also deaf in one ear! This is a big deal to Reese.

✦Favorite Ice Cream ✦
Vanilla
Despite his appearance, Reese's actual favorite ice cream
flavor is simple vanilla. He enjoys the way the simple flavor
makes way for other toppings such as hot fudge, gummy
bears, or sprinkles.

✦ Favorite Animal ✦
Beaver
Reese loves beavers because their tails look very similar
to his feathers! One year for halloween, he even dressed
up as a beaver!

✦ Favorite Book ✦
The Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy
Reese does enjoy reading things that aren't comic books,
mostly fantasy, sci-fi, or comedy. His favorite book remains
The Hitchhiker's Guide because it includes humor and crazy
adventures, two of his favorite things in life.

Spiderman
As a kid, Reese loved Spiderman because he was an ordinary
student who was granted fantastic powers. The 2002 film
starring Toby McGuire was one of the movies that he watched
over and over, teaching himself to read lips. To this day, its
still his favorite movie to curl up on the couch and watch.

The Flash
Even he really prefers movies, The Flash captured Reese's
attention as a good TV show because it was about another of
his favorite superheroes. He likes that the show is creating an
entire new story line, instead of copying ideas from the comics,
while keeping many of the same characters. He also enjoys
the action + comedy thrill ride.[/i]

Colonel

Reese owns a corn snake named Colonel.
Many people don't quite get that the name
is a joke until they say the words
"Colonel the Corn Snake", and even then
they don't always get it. Reese enjoys
little jokes and puns and often likes to
incorperate them into everyday conversation.
