“ I didn’t always have such a happy life not like now… no cosy barn, no big field to run in. Nothing!” “ I am going to tell you how I came here the good and the bad.” I am a chestnut stallion who loves life now. Oh yes by the way my name is Dexter.

Chapter 1
Running my heart out!

It all started when I was just a foal and my owner’s could not afford me so they put up a sign “foal for sale” but I know the main reason why they sold me, because I’m different than the others. I was a chestnut Arabian like the other horse but I had some Mustang and I could be sold for loads! So I had little time left. I said I had no cosy barn and no field; well let me describe the barn to you. Smell, half broken and I was chained up and I had no water any food they only feed me when I’m good and that’s never because they are so mean to me! But I’m still alive because there people who come and see me feel sorry and they ask the owner’s to give me food and they walk off and don’t buy me! I really want to get out of this place! But the next day a man was looking at me then he said could I race and my owner said yes 100 in one day! They laughed and the man said yes and I was sold! Finally! My new owner could not wait so he put me in the box and started to drive off. I was quite small and unstable so I was wobbling all over the place! As I looked up I saw hay I tried to jump and get some but I was too small. As we can to a halt I hit my head on the door as I gained consciousness I heard in the background horse thundering along the ground. The door opened and I stepped in to the sunlight. As we walked to a building I looked around it was a big race court. Everyone was watching me as I walked they seemed to be smiling. Then I was in the darkness again the building was a stable, he put me in one of the slots and spoke right in my face saying, “ I hope you win lots and lots of races so I can get lots and lots of money” then he walked out laughing. As I examined the stool I saw food hay and oats also water fresh water. I galloped over and gobbled all of it down; I layed down in the hay and fell asleep.

Chapter 2
Born to run!

I woke by everyone running around about to train his or her horses and get ready for the races. I heard foot steppes coming toward my stool. The door opened and my new owner came in and gave me food and water. I can’t understand that my old owner didn’t look after me like him. I thought this was heaven but I as wrong I hadn’t started to train yet. He got a rope around my head and started to drag me out of the stool. I trotted along the corridor where we entered a room with lots of kit, hi-tech kit they attached me to so wires and some stick stuff at the end. They put me on a running machine and turned it on faster and faster. Until I was galloping my fastest. They then put on some leggings and preset a button, which made the leggings warmer. It was really nice until they turned it up faster I squeaked to say slow down, but you know how humans are like can’t understand anything. After the workout he put me out in the field it was quite big with lot of other horses, I ran up to then but they ran away they were playing with me. I galloped as fast as I could and I caught up to one. The horse was shocked that I caught up to him, he ran in front and then bucked. He missed me but then got me the second time. I shouted in pain and fell to the ground. He had badly hurt my shoulder but I was ok I slowly but steady got up and limped to the gate where my owner was running to help me. When he came he put a stocking on it. I yelped but he just look up at me in a happy scary way. He put a rope around me neck and pulled me along, I thought he was going to kill me! We went past the racing court and I saw lots of out of breath horse that had just done a race. Everyone started to leave as a drip went on my nose and dropped onto the floor. I looked up and drops of water came down for the sky. I heard it was called rain. Near to the stable we were running because it as pouring it down. As I got in and into my stable I shook off all the water, then started to shiver, I was freezing. Luckily someone saw and put a blanket around my body. I had some food and water and then fell to sleep.

2 Years later

I have been training my heart out and todays the day when I win my first race! I am old enough stallion to enter a race and I shall win every single one! I have a new hobby and that is to run as fast as I can along a track.

I am waiting in my stool ready for my owner to let me out and get me ready. I shall win for him. I shall win, I shall win….

Oh it was just a dream and you know it just might just that little tiny bit that I will win a race. My owner had just come round the corner and he has got a rope and everything else I need for the big race. I am worried and I don’t what to let him down but I don’t think I can do this.

Chapter 3
The big race

As I carefully walk out one step at a time into the sun I look across the track I was racing, the sunlight danced through the tree as I walked by. I saw the jockey who was going to ride me and I hoped that he was good and encouraging. The jockey jumped onto me as we waited at the gates. I was ready to unleash my talent and show everyone that I am a horse racer! The gate opened wide and the jockey on my back kicked me on, I started galloping away from the doors and then the race was on. Every single horse running as fast as they could, try to beat the rest. I think I am in the lead but not far behind the other gain in one me like I’m there pray and there the predator! When I thought of that I galloped even fasted but my jockey kicked me on and didn’t even say any thing.
I was the colour red I didn’t know what that means, but it doesn’t matter now all the does matter is winning this race! I was quite far ahead and I don’t know how long I have been running but it was getting tired. I saw everyone cheering for me as I galloped past the Finnish line. I had won the race! I was so relieved that I had done the race. I was so tired that I collapsed…. I didn’t know what happened after that but I was in my stable and someone was checking my heart rate. Then he walked off with my owner I could make out a little bit he was saying “He is not a racing horse in your case you should sell him or don’t push him to far and don’t let him do any races.” My owner nodded then looked at me. “ This horse is no used to me now I will sell him to the fist buyer. And that was that, I was going to get sold. That afternoon a lady can, she needed a school horse. He pointed at me then the lady got out some money and gave it to him. She had some rope and slowly walked over to me, I sniffed her, and she was prefect. I put my head down so she could put the rope around my head and told me to walk on. She could totally under stand me it was like she was speaking horse! As I went into the box it said at the side Mill Promise Riding stable. I was going to be a school horse. I was excited I heard some one talking about it its sound great! I know how to jump, trot and canter. As we came into the riding stable I was munching on hay and I heard horse trotting. It smelt lovely, fresh grass and hay. Am I in a dream? As I got out a rider came up and stroked me “ so this is the new horse he’s lovely what are we going to call him?” the teenager thought for a second an then said “ I know lets call you Dexter and that was that I was called Dexter and that’s what I’m called now. “ Is he good? Why am I even saying this he is good I know it!” She put me in the stable and said “I going to be your new rider boy. You’re going to be fun to ride!” she walked off smiling. She had something about her that I liked.
The next day she got me out to train, I thought I was good and she loved it! I jumped every jump in sight, well that she wanted me to do anyway. I was having so much fun but you know what they say time fly’s when your having fun and it did I was getting hungry and so was the teenager. She stopped me and mounted off then put me back in my stool and I went off to have some lunch. And so did I umm lovely hay. For the rest of the day I watch all the ponies jumping cantering and more it was quite fun until it got dark everyone when home but the teenager stayed. I believe she is called Sophie that’s what I heard. Anyway it was her turn to get ready for tomorrow, I liked her company because I was new and she is my rider also I can trust her. When she was done Sophie walked over to my stool and stroked my head then smiled and went home. It was quite after that excepted owls hooting. I managed to get some sleep ready for the morning work.

i could give you little tips....like.....afew grammer
mistakes. (aka: commas, periods.) and also acouple
spelling mistakes. hey, dont worry bout that one im not
a huge spelling person eather! but all your words that you
misspelled, i could understand!which is always a good thing!
