It was just a normal day in the life of an apprentice, and to his surprise, little Creekpaw found himself standing on thin ice
Creekpaw batted Cinderpaw on the ear playfully, "you wish!" He giggled after her former sentence, he scented the air and looked over to Thornblaze, "nothing in sight," his paws were stained white with snow that molded into his fluffy pelt.
Thornblaze sniffed the air and nodded, "Cinderpaw, Creekpaw, how about we head down to the lake and catch some fish, instead?"
Creekpaw bounced up in excitement, tail bobbing and head quickly jolting into a nod of approval, "yea!!" Cinderpaw and Creekpaw both mewed in synchronization. Thornblaze had flicked his tail in order for the two to follow. Creekpaw darted in front of his mentor in excitement, "hey, Cinderpaw, race you to the lake!" His crush had smirked and narrowed her eyes, bolting after the fellow eager apprentice, tail streaming behind her, "hey, no far, you cheated!" Creekpaw's nose crinkled, "nah-ah, I just announced it last minute!" He joked, assuring, streaking in front of the she-cat, paws hitting against the ground's surface as he approached the icy lake.
I win! he thought to himself and approached the ice, "I bet I could make it to FeatherClan and back," he whispered as Cinderpaw and Thornblaze neared him. He was quite a playful cat, always up for an adventure,
maybe a little look around wouldn't hurt, hey, and maybe I can start up a wild goose chase! He stepped onto the ice, eyes narrowed in determination as he began to slide, "WHEEEE!!" Fish swam by underneath him and he smiled, feeling the cool wind blow his fur in it's direction.
I wonder what it's like to be a fish His skate along the ice seemed to be moving slower and the two others were not too far behind
better pick up pace! Slowly, his paws began shifting and he took a step, pushing against the ice. To his surprise, he did not go faster, but stayed in an uncomfortable position, ice stabbed into his paws as he yowled out in pain. Suddenly, the area around him began to break away, icy cold water seeped into his fur as he plunged underwater, struggling to reach the small opening where he fell, but the force seemed to be pulling him underwater. He could have sworn that a shadowy figure had smirked and dunked him underwater, his eyes began to close as he reached his paw upwards towards the fading light of day. Bubbles surrounded his face during his attempt to call out for help. Suddenly, a splash interrupted his vision and Thornblaze came leaping after him. His claws outstretched and just about hooked onto his ragged fur, he felt teeth tug at his flesh as his mentor struggled to bring him to air, Creekpaw's breath seemed to be slipping away, slowly, slowly, slowly. Blackness.
He gasped for breath as he looked up at the roof of the medicine cat's den dizzily, teeth chattering as he awoke, he stared up to see Cinderpaw and smiled, "h-hey, wh-what just h-h-happen-ed?" It was barely audible yet Cinderpaw still replied, "you fell into the lake and almost drowned." Her voice dropped to a whisper, "just warning you, you are in pretty big trouble with Thornblaze and Remedysong." His fur was wet and he lay in a bed of moss, Creekpaw let out a sigh, "whatever, it's my fault anyways."
Remedysong interrupted, "yup, you better believe it," she growled, "good thing Thornblaze was there, or else by now we wouldn't be so angry." The medicine cat let out a sigh, "don't you
ever leave camp unattended, do you hear me?"
Creekpaw's eyes widened, "but I didn't! they could still see me and I just-"
"No buts!" Remedysong hissed, "just.. get some rest, Creekpaw, alright?"
Creekpaw sighed and nodded, Cinderpaw smiled down at him, a playful glint in her eyes, "see ya after your punishment!" She giggled and skipped towards the apprentice's den
