The forest was silent, apart from the rustling of leaves as the gentle breeze collided with them. Not even the birds sang their morning song. No, today seemed to be...quiet. Too quiet. The wild had never been this quiet before, but it wouldn't be quiet for much longer.
"Of on an adventure!"
Hmmm? A voice sounded through the silent air, full of happiness and excitement. I wonder what it could be.
"I am Jace, the mighty whisperer! Fear me!"
Looks like Jace is talking to himself again, thinking he is a mighty whisperer. But in reality, he was only a little bean, no more then six years old. But we should let him dream and imagine while he can, right?
Dried leaves crunched under clawed feet as the bean walked along a worn-out trail. He had snuck away from his parents, since they never let him out on his own, and he was sick of being treated like a baby that needed to be protected. He could look after himself, it wasn't that hard. He hadn't even told his brother he was going alone.
"He would've just told mum and dad, when I want to go on my adventure alone without them coming to make sure I don't do anything too dangerous." Jace said. "But after this, when I go home safe and sound, they'll let me go whenever I want! And then maybe Hatori can come too! I know I'm suppose to tell him and not hide anything, especially since we are twins, but he'd just spoil it."
The grey and blue furred bean kept walking, and even he began to notice how quiet the forest was.
"I thought birds would be chirping, but they seem to be silent, like something is wrong...have no fear! The fox whisperer is here!" Jace said loudly, hoping some creature would make a noise. But it continued to be silent.
"Maybe something really is wrong...lets go find out what it is!"
Jace then broke into a run, his eyes glinting as he ran along the track. If something was wrong, he had to find what it was and try and make it better, so the forest would be alive with animals and noise again.
As he went along, he heard noises...animals crying for help! The bean rushed towards the sounds, only to come to a clearing. There was a thing humans called a 'van' at the edge, a human sitting at the front. Scattered around the clearing were cages, a certain animal in them, and he wondered to one of the cages.
Foxes!
"They're catching foxes for their fur!" Jace said. "I cant let these foxes go to that fate...I have to help!"
But how?
That was easy, he'd just have to get them out of their cages, he'd have to pick at the locks. He went to the first cage, and stuck one of his claws into the lock, wriggling it about before he heard a click, and the lock fell to the ground. The cage door swung open, and the fox trapped inside bounded out, before looking at Jace. It seemed to thank him, by nodding its head slightly before racing out of the clearing, before the human could see it. Jace smiled, going to unlock all the other cages.
He was soon at the large cage, which held both a vixen and a fox, they were obviously mates. As Jace picked at the lock, he heard a shout. The human had spotted him! He quickly picked at the lock, and the lock fell to the ground.
"Run!" Jace yelped to the foxes, and they bolted out of the cage, out of the clearing. Jace was about to follow, but the human had caught up, and grabbed him by the scruff of his neck before he could escape.
Jace cried out, struggling in the humans grip as it cursed at him, until he head a noise. A fox!
It seemed to be one fox, but soon, more joined, screaming. They sounded like dying humans, and they were loud. So loud, the human yelled out and dropped Jace, covering his ears ad getting into his van. It took a few more minutes of screaming, but the human eventually left. The screaming died down, and each fox stepped out from where they were hiding. They surrounded Jace, their eyes seemed bright, full of happiness, and they all lifted their heads, like wolves, and screamed for a few moments, as if thanking Jace, and then they all turned and disappeared, into the forest.
Jace sat up, and he smiled, the birds began to sing their song.
"Thank you, friends. We are even, and next time we meet, we will look at each other as equals. I will tell everyone how foxes are kind and protecting creatures, and if I see someone trying to hunt you, I will stop them."
