A tall, looming building rose up into the skyline of L.A., the golden rays of the sun reflecting off of the shiny metal and windows that decorated the exterior. The building belonged to the Delta Corporation, a company that specialized in making gadgets for the FBI and CIA, and a company that held several patents on devices such as the toaster, computer chip, and headphones. In front of the building stood a young female dragon, white-ish grey in color with pink, green, and blue markings all across her body. A light, silvery scarf was wrapped around her neck and tail. In her paw was a plain white business card, embossed with green metallic ink. She looked down at the card, then back up at the building, and down at the card again.

"Is this even the right place?" Brier muttered to herself.

Shrugging off her doubts, Brier entered the building. The inside of it was just as nondescript as the outside. Black and grey walls, carpets, and furniture lined the halls, and all of the wooden items were the same, dark colored mahogany. She walked up to the front desk, where a plain Dragon was typing away on a laptop. He didn't look up from his work for one moment, and simply ignored Brier.

"I am here to see a Mr. Devin Richter." Brier announced, placing the business card down on the table.

The other Dragon picked it up, looked at it, and gestured towards an elevator Brier had not noticed before, "Take the elevator up to floor 17, 7th door on the right." He said in a boring voice.

"Thank you." Brier responded, cooly walking over to the elevator. Even it was plain and boring, and there was no cheesy music playing either.

After a few minutes, Brier was up on the 17th floor. It looked exactly like the first floor, and of course, everything was exactly the same, and boring. She knocked cautiously on the 7th door, unsure of what to expect.

"Come in!"

Brier entered the room, and was surprised by what she saw. It was decorated nicely, in shades of red, white, black, and orange. A bright blue-green abstract wall painting hung behind a red leather couch. A yellow and purple male Dragon sat behind a large oak desk, smiling happily. "You must be Miss Simran Xianthus." He said.

Brier nodded, glad that he had not bothered to check whether or not Simran was her true given name or not. "I am here, what is it that you wish to discuss with me Mr. Richter?"

Mr. Richter turned to face his window. He pressed a button on his desk and the lights dimmed, and a large screen covered the window. "You are here because I've been looking for a person exactly like you; manipulative, confident, cool headed, and skilled. This building might be for the Delta Corporation, but really, we are a sort of . . . spy service, like the CIA, or NSA." Several black and white pictures flashed across the screen, showing some of the greatest and most renowned Dragons and Government officials shaking hands with the founders of the Delta Corporation, "We exist for a simple reason: to spy on the government. Everyone knows that they are spying on us all the time, but no one really knows what they are up to in secret. So the Delta Corporation was started. Its cover up story is that Delta consists of several hundred teams of top scientists, engineers, mathematicians, psychologists, and many more that are dedicated to creating gadgets for the government intelligence agency's to use. We also hold several patents on everyday items that also bring in more funds for us."

A short, soundless video began to play, but Brier nor Mr. Richter was paying attention to it anymore, "We want you to be a spy for us. Your family, the Xianthus, has connections with a lot of government officials, and access to many government buildings. We can give you all sorts of information you never knew before, and trust me Miss Simran," Mr. Richter continued, "We know of how you love information. What do you say?"

Brier sat on the couch, staring absentmindedly at the movie screen. She clawed softly at a throw pillow, thinking about this offer. Mr. Richter hadn't exactly given her a lot of information, but she supposed it would be all she would get. This offer did sound rather good. Brier would be able to put her natural skills to use, she could probably find out everything on the Morados, and she would be a spy, a childhood dream of many Dragons. "I do not know Mr. Richter, I will have to think about this for a bit." Brier told him, focusing back on reality.

"I can understand that Miss Simran, it's an offer that not many take. Of course, we will have to change your identity a bit, and you wouldn't be able to live at the Xianthus mansion."

Brier shook her head, "Then I am afraid I cannot accept. I must stay at the Main House, Vector and Delphine do not wish for me to stray from there since I am still young, and the security there is better than anything you could offer me."

Brier stood, prepared to leave the office and forget about everything she had learned there. Her paw was on the door knob when Mr. Richter suddenly called out.

"Wait!" He said, standing up from his chair.

Brier opened the door slightly, her back to Mr. Richter. She didn't see the worry and fear in his eyes, or the determination to have her working for this spy business. "You can stay at the Xianthus mansion, but you will have to change your identity."

Brier grinned slightly, "Good, then everything is settled then?"

"Yes, I expect you to be here tomorrow morning at 8:00 sharp." Mr. Richter relaxed back into his chair, a bead of sweat rolling down his fur.

Brier nodded, her back to Mr. Richter still, "I will be on time." She exited the room, closing the door softly behind her.

Mr. Richter closed his eyes, letting out an audible sigh of relief as Brier left the room. A second later, the phone rang, causing him to jump in his seat a bit.

"Y-Yes? This is Mr. Richter speaking."

"Did everything go as planned?" A raspy voice said, sounding tired and worn out.

"Yes Mr. Morado, Brier accepted the position. She will be here tomorrow morning at 8:00."

"Good, remember to attach the micro-camera to her jewel, but make sure she doesn't notice. And make sure you have a tracker on her, and do not let on about the true purpose of recruiting her," Mr. Morado broke into a series of hacking coughs, "She must not find out that she is really working for the Morado family, that is essential. If that does happen, the blame will fall on you, and I promise that your death will not be fun"

The phone went silent, and Mr. Morado hung up. The sound of the dial tone filled the room, and Mr. Richter glanced around the room, afraid that at any minute a gunshot would sound, or that he would find a knife embedded in on of his furniture pieces. I must not let that silly girl find out anything! He thought to himself, Yes, yes, I must conceal her from the truth. It should be easy to trick her, all that has been planned will soon be in motion.

"I just hope I don't die." He muttered to himself.

Mr. Richter moved over to the window, the movie screen sliding up into the ceiling. He stared out at the L.A. skyline, then glanced down as he saw Brier leave the building. She turned around briefly, and stared up at it, directly where Mr. Richter was standing. He felt a shiver go down his spine, wondering if she knew that she was staring right at him, or if she was doing it on purpose. Greatly unnerved, Mr. Richter watched and waited until Brier was completely out of sight before he felt comfortable enough to turn his back to the window.

"This had better work Mr. Morado."
