Sera stood, petrified and wide-eyed, as she stood on the vacant side-walk. The only being still in sight was a hooded man, speaking in a low, mysterious voice. His bulging eyes were blood-shot as he found his grip on Sera's pale and slender arm. She whimpered but the man quickly quieted her down by shutting her quivering mouth closed. Throwing her in the car, laid on her back, the strange, eerie man slapped on a piece of sticky duct tape to Sera's lips, preventing anything but mutters of help to be heard from her. The stranger hopped into the front seat while tears streamed down Sera's face. Terrifying thoughts played through her head, each one crazier than the last. The silver car sped through the polluted city and at last slowed to a spot. Sera peeked through the window silently and saw a place un-familiar to her thoughts. The man, who Sera had even forgot about for a few moments, kept an un-readable expression pasted to his grey face when he stepped cautiously out of the vehicle. Sera struggled to be freed, but just as she expected, she had no luck as the man hoisted her atop his broad shoulder and carried her inside a small barn, empty of any animals.
Sera closed her eyes, hoping she was dreaming as though she were in a movie or television show. "You un-happy, darlin'?" the man said with a thick accent. "Sorry 'bout ya'll luck, then!" he laughed and busily tied Sera's limbs to the ground, making it impossible to do something as simply as flex a finger. The young girl's breaths became shaky and shallow as her chest raised and dropped annually. "You, black, you'll obey my every command these next few days." The man said plainly. Sera felt as if she were going to be sick. Now she knew why the man had done this. It was her race. She had learned about this in school once before. Closing her eyes, Sera began to pray, attempting to relax. Lord, please let me get through this. Please let me go see momma and papa soon. Please let me be ok. Thank you, I love you, Amen. she whispered under her breath. The stranger strutted out of the room, and Sera, noticing the sun lowering and the moon rising, closed her eyes, assuming just to take a quick nap. Instead, she fell into a deep sleep, full of horrid, vivid dreams that scared the only eight year old girl very much.
