Vernal sucked in a breath of the cold morning air it chilled her lungs like a mouthful of ice water. She padded forward taking her time to get started. Vernal had been decided to go look at the surrounding territory today. Wanted to establish boundaries first and foremost. For the first time, she took a moment to gaze about the interior of the "ruins" despite what the name might imply the old cottage was still in pretty good shape with only minor holes and damage from the weather. It would work well as a central base for the Warren. She gazed at the tunnel she had used to enter the ruins carefully checking the walls to make sure it was still holding up okay after the vicious storm last night. Satisfied with it she crawled through emerging into the damp Moore and bounded off.
She wandered rather aimlessly at first heading north she didn't even have to wander too far from camp to find a water source she gazed at the fast moving brook it gurgled merrily as though pleased by her arrival. She made a mental note that this would be the first of their boundaries. A rustling sound caught her ear causing her to startle from her thoughts she looked up though to find nothing.
Then she headed a bit to the east where she discovered a copse of trees that appeared to bridge into a larger section of woods. She surged forward but she could feel the prickle of nerves up her spine she did not care for these woods. She felt as though something was here watching her but she didn't know what. She was quite ready to leave the ghostly woods and head back the opposite way.
Next, she bounded west towards where she would come to find the steep edge of a large cliff the black rock simply seemed to dive down into the tumultuous grey ocean and disappear under the waves. This was a boundary that wasn't optional. For a moment she stayed and watched the wild waves beat blindly into the rock wall. Before she knew she needed to move on or risk trying to return home in the dark.
She darted back when she was frozen by an all to a familiar sound. She crouched low lifting her head just high enough to catch a glimpse of the Elil. She stayed low carefully creeping past listening carefully for its movements. As soon as she thought she was far enough away she made a mad dash for the house diving in through one of the entrances to safety. As she allowed her breathing to slow Vernal complied her mental notes about the surrounding territory. She would definitely have to expand but she could do that in time. For now, she figured it was time to make some friends.
