Workshop Three - Writing Prompt
Prompt:
Uriah' "best friend" was a boy by the name of David.
They were raised together by the people who lived in the government estate of their Tribe. Said to be orphans abandoned at birth. They shared a room, and got along amazingly despite being complete opposites. Uriah was a very quiet, very well mannered kit who looked up to David and followed him, always trying to hide in the shadow of David. But David didn't like Uriah hiding, he knew Uriah was amazing and had seen who he truly wanted to be even when he wouldn't say it. He often pushed Uriah to show his true colors, the colors of a leader. But Uriah didn't want to, he had somehow grown a fear of something he had no reason to fear, and David's attempts to drag him out, only made him crawl further away and deeper into David's shadow.
They were extremely close, and often had conversations to one another without needing to actually speak, they knew eachother's habits and body language all too well, and had grown fluent in the language of the eyes.
They hardly ever were seen apart, so when they became teens, it shocked everyone to see how distant they had grown, it was during this time that it became evident how much Uriah was beginning to battle within himself, and David tried again to encourage the side that Uriah was not wanting to show. This time, things started to edge between them, and they drove further apart because of things Uriah was battling, and the things that David was holding back from him.
After an inncident that had brought them back together momentarily, David changed, and Uriah spent so much time trying to figure it out without saying anything. He tried to be supportive of David who grew into a habit of night terrors that didn't make sense to Uriah.
Their relationship became extremely strained at that time, and the paths they took grew extraordinarily different from one another in ways that hadn't existed before.
Things stayed a consistent strain though until Uriah did what David hoped he wouldn't, breaking a law that happened to be the last thing expected of Uriah, leading him into banishment. David was so bewildered by this, and with other things adding up he snapped, he took Uriah's dagger out from its sheath, and drove it into Uriah's abdomen, when Uriah didn't fall backwards off the cliff on his own, David tapped his shoulder ever so slightly, and Uriah fell over the cliff. Uriah survived, but the relation between them had clearly been turned into something much more malicious than that of the past, and Uriah is now lead to the point of blood lust, wanting revenge on David whom he believes has become power hungry.
